'Recently Used' can fail, even crash

Recommended Posts

I've wondered now and again what that 'Recently Used' option does. Just spotted the Add and Remove buttons. So added prefabs so it's easier to reach from my project folder. Tried to import my stepladder prefab which worked ten minutes ago and got nothing. Tried again and it crashed DR. If I navigate direct then the prefab loads OK. I don't know if this problem is the same for opening maps etc. as it's the first time I've used it.

I never used this feature, but it seems to work ok now I've been trying it. Although I could track down one crash when inserting prefabs via the ortho context menu, which is fixed now in source.

This should have been crashing all the time, so I'm wondering why it didn't get noticed before.

Perhaps not many are using it? The 'recently used' tops a list of all drives and partitions which in my case is quite a few. Separated from it are those buttons. I just never made any connection. I assumed 'Recently used' would automatically list any paths I'd recently used - like a history of the last 10. And it wasn't showing any. But if you need to manually add and remove paths then should it not be called "Bookmarks" or "Favourites"? Or is that "Recently used" nothing to do with the Add/Remove buttons?

While I'm here, has this latest got the shortcut game path args? Is it the same form as for Doom?

+set fs_game_base darkmod +set fs_game tdm

I cannot say, I must admit. It's not made by me anyway, it's a standard GTK file chooser dialog, which I cannot customise much (apart from the preview window - I can add things, but not change or remove default stuff).

Ah, sorry, I should have posted this somewhere. You'll have to use this:

fs_game_base=darkmod fs_game=tdm

I didn't want to mimic all the argument splitting like D3 does with the +set and everything, it was easier this way.

      Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
