Komag Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 First issue, when I minimize my entity viewer, it first minimizes but then immediately makes all DR minimize too! http://www.shadowdarkkeep.com/files/drentityminimize.wmv (2.4mb, 17sec) Then, when it's minimized, if I hit N to "bring it up", I was hoping that would unminimize it, but it just make the little minimized thing go away and come back and forth: http://www.shadowdarkkeep.com/files/drentityunminimize.wmv (1.3mb, 8sec) Lastly, not sure what's going on, if I don't have something set up right, but I don't see anything in my entity viewer no matter what I select. It's blank: plus it's all fubared! But that only happened after I did all the messing around in the above vids. In fact, you can see in the first vid that it looks normal right at first, but after the first restore from the minimize, it's fubared as pictured. A restart of DR didn't fix the fubared-ness. A restart of my laptop didn't fix it either! Looks like I have to reinstall DR! EDIT - fixed a couple things, needed to pull down the text entry bars, they had somehow got squished up during all the minimizing junk! This also reveals the missing data! Quote
OrbWeaver Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I am not confident that these window behaviour issues can ever be properly resolved until the horrible hackish half-dialog/half-main-window stuff is removed and replaced with actual top-level windows. Unfortunately, this means that the windowing interface would act like the GIMP, with each window needing separate management, which some people are vehemently opposed to. In my opinion, there should be two windowing options: 1. The embedded view that Greebo recently added, possibly with a couple of alternative pane arrangements. This is now my preferred interface, and is suited for people with single monitors or who do not like multi-window applications.2. A true multi-window interface, without any hackery or hybrid window behaviours. Each window would be a top-level window that could be resized or placed on any monitor. This would be suited for people with multiple monitors or who preferred the flexibility of a GIMP-like arrangement. Note that this does not affect the Entity inspector's split-pane stuff, that is a separate issue I think.
