Only table is done. Maybe some day I'll make a cue and balls for it :)

The model is in the betamapper repository:

Install the pack and type "map btest" in the console. Use the candle for highlighting.

It's a beautiful model, but it looks really modern for our setting. You could stick a pac-man machine and some air-hockey tables next to it and it would look perfectly at home.

(and yes, I know billiards as a game has been around for hundreds of years)

Besides the textures, it's the mesh pockets with the rails for collecting the balls that registers as totally modern for me.

Hm, maybe make the textures a lot more worn-looking? This could possibly fit some casino-style map then.

I'm not planning changing the texture for a while. According to my intention, this table will be in a respectable house :)

At last you made a remark to the point instead of sarcasm.

These rails were made for creating a mini-game with pocketing the balls (if I will create it). It's difficult to make it with soft meshes.

Yes, nice model though. Get rid of the rails and the early pockets were just net pockets, as I recall sometimes with a tassle on the end. Also needs the baulk line and D marking on the cloth but I don't know if that was introduced early. I do recall that the very first cues were more like small mallet headed to push the balls. I think it evolved from lawn croquet.

 I'll chalk that up to language differences....

You can put whatever you want into your own mission, but what we're trying to say is that the model won't work well for inclusion in the general mod package. If that doesn't matter to you then that's fine; there's no need for you to change anything.

Here's a pic of an early version:

Sorry, your first post seemed a bit sharp for me...

Yes, I made it for my mission in the first place. Generally my mission looks somewhat more modern than typical medieval mission and I think this table will fit there fine. I don't know whether I'll recast something in it.

But any mod mapper can use it if he wants, as well as you can include or not include it in the mod depending on your wish.

Thanks to everybody for comments :)

It would fit well in a steampunk mansion...like BM.

What about it looks steampunk? Even traditional steampunk is generally pre-20th C, and that table definitely looks like it came from the 1950s or later.

Dram, are you working on Arma 2 by chance?

Yeah actually :) Recently hired as a level designer (1.5 months ago). Which is why I haven't had much time for TDM the past few months, as I was sorting my portfolio, then website, then applications, and then air tickets from Sydney to Czech Republic, as well as sorting out leaving Australia for good.

Why do you ask?

Very nice, congratulations! Armed Assault 2 happens to be the sequel to one of my favorites, Operation Flashpoint, which i played online for many months and offline for many years, on and off. I must have downloaded a GB of mods for that. I loved dodging patrols while making my way cautiously over the landscape. I tried the demo, very nice graphics and art work. I may not play it, but only because of the A.I and other non graphics realated stuff, but...

 ...will you tell Marek i'd be happy to re-animate the first-person-perspective movements and make them more balanced with reality? ....and to whoever came up and/or approved that insane way of choosing keys where you set one, then it asks whether your sure about changing it, but then doesn't erase exsisting places used by the key and you have to go find it and erase it your self. Could....and i know this is a lot to ask, but the next time that guy goes to the bathroom, could you possibly give that guy that move where you elbow him to the stomach, then bring your fist up meeting the face. Go easy! ..as we all know from the movies, he could very well end up in the next room using that move. Just send a little message, thats all im saying.... :P:laugh::D

I don't know about the game yet, but the Arma 2 videos that have been coming out have impressed the hell out of me. I've always been more a fan of sim-like games than plain shooters.

The FM I'm working on now needs a pool table that this model would be perfect for. The style (of the FM) has a few modern touches in an otherwise medieval setting, like a Terry Gilliam movie; and it's a remake of an old, old game, so I'm just running with the setting that it already gives me.

I agree the model doesn't really fit into the release package, though.

I think you guys have mentioned this before, but it might be nice to have a centralized depository of assets that won't be part of the release package, but are still something mappers might be able to use. This is something that would be good for that.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
