Some small things i noticed were that i couldnt seem to drop down an unconscious body after shouldering it, it happened to me twice, with different guards in different spots, and all i could do was reloading a previous point in time (saving and reloading 'with the body on my shoulders' didnt release him). After reloading and stubbornly taking the same guy out, the problem wouldnt appear. There's no "grunt" sound or anything, i tried dropping everywhere... i have a save file from Chalice but it gets too large to upload here.

If you zip or RAR it up, the savegame becomes actually miniscule in size. Upload it after its been zipped or RAR'd if you can.

I wouldn't mind running this through the debugger since I've never encountered this before.

well here we are on the fourth page full of thank you's for the team and I just don't think it has been said enough so:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I am downloading now and I can't wait to get started playing.

I loved all the demos so I'm sure this is gonna blow me away.

This is either a chair places a tiny bit into the floor (map issue), or one with a mismatched collision model (mod issue). Do you know which chair it was?

The chair in question was in the map "The Outpost", on the top floor of the building next to a desk in the room directly ahead of the spiral staircase (NOT the room with the Bishop NPC and the bed, but the one next to it). I bumped into the chair from the right side (facing the wall) while I was looking at the clutter on the desk (I believe I was looking for a readable).

My relatively uneducated guess says it's a mapping issue, as I haven't seen any other chairs do that...

Could you please file a bug report for this?

http://bugs.angua.at/login_page.php

Anonymous logins can't post bugs, and my forum account doesn't work there, so...no I couldn't, unless I missed something obvious. Sorry :\

I see both accounts on the bugtracker: Ladro and Ladro2. I'll delete the Ladro2 one and reset the password for your first one. You should receive it via E-Mail (the .org one).

Congratulations on your release!

I only pop in the forums now and then, but I've definitely been following the mod. I can't give it a shot at the moment due to my desktop PC being down (been that way for like 6 months ... needs a new power supply), but now I've got more of an incentive to get it up and running.

I finally got to play through the training mission, enjoying it immensely... The lockpicking! The physics! The water! The effortless mantling! The swinging ropes...! Everything seems to be just right, and very thiefy indeed. I'm looking forward to playing the other missions, and hopefully many more.

Congratulations on completing this ambitious project. I'm a little worried now that you won't have time to update it when you're all hired as consultants on Thief 4...

Congrats TDM team! (a bit late to say that, but better than never) It's easy to realize there are many improvements in dark mod compared to previous release. Here is my short review:

-The new combat system is the most remarkable innovation seemed to me. it's much more hard than before and needs time to get used. Besides, lockpicking is the proof of how talented the coding stuff is.

-I loved new animations & models that are welldone and still improvable.I'm sure you are aware of model stretching bug.( happens in training mission - fighting area)

-New vocals are great thanks to sound department. don't know if it is intentional, but there isn't any voice over in briefings of FMs, just texts slide. Besides it will be better to reduce AI whistling volume that annoys.

-It's sure that leveling & texture stuff also made big effort on maps. I figured out the edges of stones seems less sharper than before. it can't be only texture, or is that so?. To evaluate all maps in my perspective: I think Chalice of Kings has the most playing time compared to others. Training Mission has the most beautiful design and it's so huge! The Outpost is best example of building that size of mission in very short time period. Besides the water at the begining of mission seems so exotic, I love it. and finally... Crown of Penitence... has the shortest gaming play compared to restbiggrin.gif (less 10 min in hardest) but I have to mention that it has nice inner decorations which improves the atmosphere. Wonder how many FM are in progress that are made by beginners right now. btw. post some ss of my map already in ttlg, but decided to change it to a small mansion map to be able to complete it before new year. be ready to my pop-questionssmile.gif

Extra thanks:

Seems like many didn't pay attention to site, but new design looks much better thanks to site designer: previous banner and main site design was a little bit cold.

In short, we love you all!

Released a day after my 25th birthday, too bad I was too busy partying to notice release!! :(

Only just learned the beta is here! Downloading immediatelly!

It feels like only yesterday St. Lucia was released, how quick and painless that demo has made the last year!

Cant wait to get taffing, if St. Lucia was anything to go by this is going to be immense! It feels like one of those slightly late birthday presents I wasn't expecting, and could only have dreamed of :)

Thank you so much all involved in development, your heroes of the Thief/FM community :D

Just to expand on my original post as since then I have had a week to play with the mod...

I am utterly speechless, this mod is awe-inspiring!...

From a player perspective I cannot fault it at all, its everything A Thief fan could hope for.

On another note Chalice was a brilliant, brilliant map and I enjoyed it thoroughly!! Definately going to get the toolset out and have a crack at the map concept I have had in my head for 3+ years :)

I tried the newest version 1.0.2 also.. No idea where the problem is.

The Dark Mod: Out Thief-ing Thief!

I have played every single iteration of Thief including UT Thievery (I came late to it and was terrible but I played it anyway) and I have to say that from the view point of the player looking forward to what a game is capable of this is with out any doubt the BEST fantasy/steam-punk sneaker ever built. I have been watching this site grow since the very beginning chomping on my fingers waiting as patiently as I could. now I have played and finished all the missions that came with the original release and am almost done with "Patently Dangerous" and I am in taffer's heaven. I doubt I will ever build my own map but I will play all yours and love you gals and guys for it. I love the story you have built into the world and the potential it has for good strong story.

I know I posted a quick thank you earlier but now I've played it I have to say it again: Thank You! TDM is the best world for taffing around ever made. A Masterpiece! send it to a store and I'll buy it. who needs Thief 4? I don't see it threatening your creation no matter what they do with it. Eidos would better serve our community by scrapping the Thief 4 project and redirecting all those man-hours into building maps for The Dark Mod.

there gonna be a KOMAG contest soon?

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
