  1. Uninstall Doom 3 first, delete the folder c:\games\doom3 (backup any saved info you want to keep first). Install Doom 3 again, apply patch. When you browse to the proper location with the patcher make sure it doesn't add "Doom 3" to the end, if it does delete this.

Thanks mate, I got it working. I went through all that trouble and fixing the problem was as simple as deleting the "Doom 3" at the end of the patch location.

Thanks a lot, and to everyone else who "attempted" to help me but gave me wrong solutions and suggestions.

  2. I installed the patch but it still remains at version 1.3.1302. When I installed the patch I install it to C:\games\doom3\Doom 3\

Is this correct or am I installing the patch wrong?

Ok let me add that when I go to programs and into doom 3, there are 2 doom 3 icons. 1 of those icons let me start doom 3 up but it's at version 1.3.1302 and the other icon comes up with

    couldn't load default.cfg

  3. There's your problem then. You need 1.3.1.1304.

See this page for details and instructions.

    Basically:

    1. Download this patch: http://72.8.59.188/TheDarkMod/Files/DOOM3-1.3.1.exe

    2. Uninstall Doom 3.

    3. Reinstall Doom 3.

    4. Use the patch above to patch Doom to version 1.3.1.1304.

    5. If you still have problems, double-check the version in the console again.

I installed the patch but it still remains at version 1.3.1302. When I installed the patch I install it to C:\games\doom3\Doom 3\

Is this correct or am I installing the patch wrong?

  4. Ah, I see, it's just a fancy XP theme - no Vista glass. OK. You probably have 32-bit like everyone else then (although 64-bit Windows XP Professional does exist), so that's not likely to be the problem.

You said you can run ordinary Doom 3 without any problems. Do that, then press Ctrl-Alt-~ to bring down the console. It should say "DOOM 3 1.[something]" in the lower-right corner of the console. What's the exact version number it displays there?

    It says 1.3.1302

  5. It would solve the problem of people not putting all the files in the right place (since the installer would do the right thing for them), which seems to be what has caused your problems. Extracting the Saint Lucia package directly into C:\games\doom3 (not into a subfolder) is the correct procedure and should have avoided at least your original problem (and possibly this one too).

Could you show us your Doom 3 folder structure?

    C:\games\doom3

And into there is the doom 3 folders and I extracted the files into there.

  6. Don't listen to komag, he's a mormon. If you killed and ate his wife, he's still shake your hand and invite you in for coffee.

The rest of us are all the sort of depraved heathens who have no mercy for div kids, so don't push it.

No mercy? How could you show any lack of mercy over the net anyway? And telling me not to push what?

Personaly I don't give a damn who the rest of the people on this forum are.

But anyways... things that make me enjoy a thief map much is how cozy it looks :)

I love seeing cozy fire places in a map, just makes the map seem 10 times better.

Well thats my opinion and it's shit. :)

P.S. I don't want any critizim towards me, just stick to the thread.

  7. Yeah. That is one aspect that they capture really good. I often go out at night with my dog, and then I encounter houses with frontgards, which really reminds me of some Thief maps. Never had this with other games. And it feels really good to see the fireplace with a fire lit, when it's cold and ugly outside. :)

    Well, a poor-mens-fireplace. :)

Yeah I also walk my dog at night, it's a different atmosphere.

But in australia it's currently summer, and you don't really feel like walking your dog when the sun is out, and plus the flys in australia are abosolutly annoying!

  8. Ok good news, I have downloaded Thief's Den again and extracted the files with out a problem, this time it didn't report of any corrupt files. But when I start thief's den up it still comes up with that error on that blue windows `couldn't load dynamic library'.

So corrupted files couldn't be the problem because there weren't any when I extracted them.

  9. Playng Thief in winter is very special. Much different than in summer. It feels much more cozy. :)

Well, here in Germany it's raining in summer most of the time, and that is no good way to play Thief. In autumn the weather slowly changes to rain and wind, so you get more into the mood. In winter it rains all the time, which is the perfect weather for playing Thief, until spring comes around again, when it starts to rain a lot here, and you don't get so much in the mood of Thief anymore. You need the proper winter raining to do this.

Finally some one who feels the same as I do!

One thing I also love about playing thief in winter is going inside the houses. The houses in Thief deadly shadows are always so cosy looking and almost all of them have a nice warm fire burning inside the house. It makes me feel so warm when I see that.
