  1. For a reason I cannot remember, I never really played the first release, so I gave this one a try.

    A question:

I have the blackjack & the pagan orb. What to do now?

There are still some bugs in the map. Hovering trees, missalignment at the fireplace in the beginning.

And what about the great nothingness that you encounter if you swimm across the pound?

  2. It just pissed me off that they made heavy changes that bear the taste of mainstream, but

in my opinion they've not been necessary, the movies would have been success anyway.

    Examples:

    • Elves at Helm's Deepm (WTF, this is the humans, the times of the elves are over)
    • The whole Arwen & Aragorn story arc, the way they "hollywoodized" it...
      ....

  3. Yeah.. I begin to prefer that Lord of the Rings were adapted to an HBO series instead of movies. They seem to know what they're doing!

Amen to that! Aesthetically LotR was great, but the story changes (not the necessarily the cuts) made it almost unbearable to me!

What masterpiece an HBO adaption could have been !

(Imo all this is valid for Harry Potter as well....)

darkmod laggy as fuck , actually high system requirements is preventing more people from playing TDM

so i prefer team members to work on code cleanup and optimization

damn :( who was the first two ?

    i'm not troll

well far cry game (2004 year too) have that all except stims and it can render map with 30K entities (or more) and it playable on P3-650 mhz

i don't blame TDM team at all ! i blame this lazy guy called john carmack , who didn't write his engines from scratch,he modified previous (idtech1->2->3->4 from 1996 to 2004) so idtech4 is advanced idtech1 engine fork

I know this has been tried before, but here we go again: Can't you try to express your opinions in a civilised manner instead of constantly pissing other people off?

A language barrier is no excuse for rudeness.

And calling John Carmack, one of the most innovative and influental persons when it commes to FPS/3D gaming, the first major engine coder who open-sourced his engines, lazy?

The guys behind FarCry developed the engine (= had the whole source, something that the TDM team has not) just for that: Open beaches and such. And the minimal requirements was ~1 Ghz CPU. On a 650 Mhz machine, how did that work? 320 x 200 and everything OFF?

Plus you forget what can't be seen. Ever thought about the more komplex AI & Physics that TDM uses?

    @Tels

Sorry for the Offtopic reply to SH, but I couldn't resist.

Unfortunately I cannot add anything to the Translations.

German and English are taken, and my Tengwar and Klingon aren't what they used to be!

I could pitch in when it comes to Latin though !

  5. Thanks, finished it. Here is my verdict:

    Seasons Theme

Good, the general atmosphere felt like a moist & foggy night in early autumn. But if it hadn't been released for the "Seasons Contest", I probably wouldn't have picked up on the that at first. Some details like whirls of fallen leaves would have been nice, but I understand that this isn't an easy thing to do, especially given the short time of building & testing of six weeks.

    Aesthetics & Architecture

Awesome. 5 out of 5. The atmosphere is brilliant, I had quite some "Cradle" moments, something that TDM undead missions often give me, because compared to Thief Haunts, Revenants, Zombies aren't that easy to get rid of. Plus you do not have a sword in this one

The church is well thought through, and convoluted enough so I got confused quite a bit sometimes. Nice !

The outside with the little pool is just beautiful !

    Gameplay

Great if you love sneaking in uncertainity, bad if you love your blackjack. And due to the low number proper weapons you cannot reak too much havok on the revenants. The story is well constructed and builds up nicely via the readables.

  6. Finished it with all the loot, but one egg short

I liked the general atmosphere, stuff like the scarcity of proper food and firewood, collapsed sectors and the general state of the manor.

I also liked that each guard had its individual name.

Bonus points for the easter-eggs hunt.

The winter theme was captured very well, but it missed some details like snowdrifts, snow

on the stairs (if all servants are gone, who sweeps the stairs??)

The puzzle was a nice touch, but I would have incorporated it more into the story.

"The lack of money is so severe that we had to use some of the weird old mosaic pieces

from the basement to patch holes in the floors and walls."

A hunt for the missing pieces would have ensued..
