  1. His father died this morning at about 11 AM. I never did get a chance to go visit the father one more time, and now I never will. I was planning to do it after the holidays were over with, because they said he would be around longer than this. This is another example of why it is a bad idea to put things off to a later date.

I'm sorry for your friends loss and I'm sorry you didn't get to see him beforehand. Now comes the guilt and the embarrassment over your procrastination (only human). Please take a deep breath and call your friend if you haven't already. He's going to need all those that knew his dad.

  2. Fidcal - again thanks for your help.

In my rush to not read to much of the hint I thought you meant the room at the beginning as this was the only room I hadn't retried so off I went. Of course that didn't work. So I reread your clue - again in a rush - thinking maybe you meant the first room that I'd run through a dozen times to go to all the other desks beyond.laugh.gif Finally I had to read your nudgesad.gif and it was a good thing I did as I had tried that desk a couple of times but obviously not right in the middle. Yay completed it all! biggrin.gif

  3. I should probably give David a call. It is nice to try and help people when bad things like this happen and I would appreciate it if I were in his place.

Whether his father deserves your sympathy or not does not matter. Right about now your friend David could probably use a non-judgemental friend as it was his father's choice to smoke not David's. This is still his dad and also someone you seem to care about. Giving him a call does nothing less than letting him know he's not alone.

  4. After watching my mom die suddenly (5 wks) with cancer 15 years ago and my dad passing 3 years ago I came to the peaceful realization that when someone dies life indeed does go on. During these last 15 years I've had my kids-one born 2 months early with special needs only 2 1/2 weeks after she past. When we both knew she was dieing she and I both wondered how I could do this without her but looking back you just do. As a source of comfort I like to believe that it was her spirit that helped save him that's what my heart says. My head says its just one of those things that can't be explained and when you're dead you're dead.

Time passes despite not having our loved ones physical presence and most of us keep up with it whether we realize it or not. I find this somewhat calming as I worry how my kids will be cared for when the time comes for me to be gone. But they'll do just what I did they'll just live their lives as time marches on.

    Just my opinion.

  5. I'm on my second run through. First time was on easy as I like to knock people outblush.gif You know get them out of my way in case I have to go back to the area. Got all the loot but wanted to try and get the objectives on harder levels so am trying it on difficult.

both times now I've only had difficulty in the rooms above the guard house. It involved trying to use a water arrow on the torch in the room with the guard and arrows and loot. No matter where I shot that torch I could not put it out. I ended up throwing a candle at the door to distract him and ran in the room off the hall as fast as I could.laugh.gif Also during the second time playing, my game locked up but I'm suspecting it was because I'd saved in a doorway? I tried a previous save and everything worked fine

    Anyways I now need help

I've received a new objective at the bar near end of mission. My question is: where is the desk to put the tip on? I have the robbers book and Rowan's tip that I started with and have tried both on every desk I could find. Am I missing something else? Any clues would be most appreciated. Thanks.

  6. Thiefette, I had that same problem towards the end of my adventures as well; I sent Jesps a save and he had nonesuch so we determined it must have something to do with my nVidia 8800... do you have similar?

Also, I could spin around and find a sweet spot/direction/POV to bring the world to light again; did you experience that?

I have a nVidia 9800 GX2 and yes I just had to "do a little dance" to find the sweet spot and turn the lights on again.

I forgot this happened one of the times I was up in the rafters in the cathedral - made for some tricky walking way up there. Had to kind of walk sideways and not look down for a short while. Dancing didn't seem to help much there I just had to get past the small area and everything was normal again

  7. Finally finished!

This place was huge - managed to get lost/turned around a few times but eventually found my way. I loved the way everything looked - gave me a sense of being there. great job. I like getting all the loot so imagine my surprise after getting the key in the courtyard a glint from the window caught my eye. Had to run around to all the windows after seeing that.laugh.gif A couple of broadheads took care of those that were out of reach.

I had to destroy one haunt cause he was not moving from the doorway to the guest wing and the one in the crypt as he was hung up on something in the main room. OH YES Jesps, nice hidey job of the loot in the crypt and thanks for the hint (one broken with loot in it)

I did have a (minor) problem towards the end of play.

When I had accomplished all the objectives and had quite a bit of loot I went to go to the cathedral through the courtyard door by the beautifully lit spiral staircase to do a double check, the world went black when I opened the door - only able to see lit torches (I remember this happened in one other mission) so closed the door and took the long way around only same thing happened with the other courtyard doors. Went back to the spiral door as I knew the door to end the mission wasn't far from there so figured I could make it. I took one or two steps out into the courtyard and everything was back to normal. I had managed to find more loot in that time so just went and finished up the mission.

As I said earlier loved this mission and look forward to more, More, MORE!!

    Oops sorry about that.

P.S. Yes, I got it all!

  8. Congrats on an excellent mission Sotha.biggrin.gif Ended up doing it twice as I finished the first time before I realized itlaugh.gif and missed so much loot had to do it again. Now have to go back and find 2 more loot.

    I really liked the

lighting from the windows. Made you really have to sneak around. Also enjoyed casanova's secret attic - which was where most of my missing loot was.

Enjoy your break but come back soon we'll miss you and your cleverness.

  9. OMG! Just finished this mission and enjoyed it all. Had a few minor spots that were a little out of line

pots in the garden by tavern could be moved but the plant stayedlaugh.gif , a couple of jerky spots going from one side of the city to the other through the walkway with the stairs, and had some difficulty navigating the water in the cove - kept getting stuck unless I found the exact way I went in. This was the most frustrating part of the game but such a small part

but didn't let that spoil my fun.

there was so many places to look where stuff might be it took forever to get through the city. The "extra" attic in the guys house took a long time to find as I never thought to look up there as I'd already been up in his house. Very clever hiding something out in the open.

All in all I must say congrats on an awesome mission. Now must go and find the rest of the loot. Perhaps recheck some more obvious places - hmm. wink.gif

  10. I thank the powers that be for giving us Tommy Douglas everytime I hear about the American health system. Here in Canada we know that if we get sick or hurt we can see a doctor or go to the hospital without having to bring the bank with us. Some provinces do pay small premiums I think but I'm fortunate to live in one that doesn't have them. Sometimes we complain about our waiting times being really long but it's the price we pay to get the treatment needed. I guess that's pretty scary too, especially when you're really sick and need specific tests but I'm not sure I would want the alternative. I don't think forcing people to buy health insurance is the answer either.

  11. Can totaly sympathize with you. Broke my foot last year (have broken lots of bones) but the foot I think was the worst as had to keep all weight off for over two months and spend another two weaning back into using it. Screws up all your other joints just keeping all your weight on the crutches. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.laugh.gif

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

  12. Those cats have good taste.

What's the site? lolcats? icanhascheezburger? catsthatlooklikehitler? mycathatesyou?

That's the ones I can think of. happy.gif

icanhascheezburger - We were just looking at it a few min ago. I'll have to check out the other ones. Thanks.

  13. Presenting: The green olive cat! It took 4 olives to get these shots. The other cat, Skitters is a slow eater and missed out.sad.gif This one, Cheemo aka tasmanian devil cat, can't believe his good fortune.laugh.gif His motto is you snooze you lose.

  14. I have two cats I took in as kittens from our back lane several years ago. One can't get enough lovin, I don't know how he'd ever have survived in the wild. I think he got fat just so he'd have more belly to rub.laugh.gif The other thinks he's a dog and has taken to begging at the table. He turns into the tasmanian devil (the cartoon version) when he sees another cat outside and can't get at it so takes it out on his brother when he comes over to see what all the commotion and howling is aboutwacko.gif . They both love green olives.laugh.gif

There is a hilarious site (don't know if I'm allowed to say the name so won't) on the web that the whole family will spend time killing ourselves laughing at. I recognized some of the pictures sent in from there.

  15. Redid the mission as it wouldn't let me go back in (to get the rest of the loot)

past the stairs after the first set of rope arrows.

As with the first time, I enjoyed the mission except for

the spiders. The teleporting was a little confusing but with some help I got that figured out.

There was great use of vertical space if not a little repetitive but all in all had no problems.

Forgot to add my thanks Stumpy for great mission.
