  1. I've been using the mission in-game downloader and was having difficulty (as described above) so I downloaded what worked and have tried the others over the last few days. Each day I get a few more so figure eventually they'll all come in. However 3 days in a row I haven't been able to get Old Habits (the original: in-game doesn't even list the rebuild) to work, it downloads twice (1 - 100% resets back to zero, starts again then fails)

  2. Finished this up before supper and have to say very impressive. Congrats on your first mission.

I loved walking the "pipe" walkway made me feel very thiefy (is that a word lol) and loved the window flower box clues - very helpful. I managed to get two of the three optional objectives and maybe the ghost (it didn't show I failed anyways) at least the second time (will explain below). Your readables provided some good clues for the loot - they were clear but not give aways.

There were just a few places I had issues with:

One was the railing between the towers in the keep - I got stuck a few times climbing over it and had to no-clip to get out of it. The other issue was a ghosting spoiler - there was nothing that would stop the killer- I tried several times to knock him out, I gassed him 3 times and then I shot him with arrows (12 of them) in the head. These actions really put him on high alert. :o He was starting to remind me of a song by the group Boney M.

On to my second playing sort of

After completing the main objectives I was on to search every nook and cranny as I am a thief who likes to get all the loot. I figured I'd keep looking until the objective checked off and then head for the end. After I had spent about an hour and a half searching, finding only a few more items it dawned on me that you had probably put loot in the end room so I headed there and the mission ended so I could not get the objective checked off. :( Using a previous save I went into the room and sure enough my hunch was right. So I loaded a previous save before main objectives completed and redid my search starting with the end room. Just a suggestion - maybe a note could be added to go there first to check it out or something. This didn't take quite as long to search as the first time because I knew where the loot I wanted was but still had guards to avoid all over again. I also hid in corners and dark spots while in the killers room. Lesson learned.

All in all I really enjoyed this mission and thank you for all your hard work!

  3. Finally getting a chance to play this so have just started when something strange happened.

This took place in the first patrolled corridor at the beginning of the mission. There is a guard with a torch and a civilian. I knocked out the civilian and proceeded to hide the body (in the rafters above him) by climbing up my rope arrow, going on to the board and throwing him - when he just disappeared. My blackjack showed back in my hand and he was no where to be found. See picture.post-3777-0-22124500-1379893446_thumb.jpg The circle is approximately where I was standing and the "x" was where I was trying to throw him.

I haven't read any posts just incase something not written in spoilers so don't know if anyone else has had this happen. Other than that I've had a great start and am enjoying.

  4. Hi Thiefette ( and anyone else reading this thread. I've all but

given up on this one now. You see , I've been diagnosed as needing a couple of replacement hips and am in a fair bit of pain sitting down so haven't the patience for the long sittings I used to play. I found the coal/ boiler room etc as instructed, made my way up the stairs and came to a long stairway where there is a bar(?) with an annoying woman who keeps popping out and who I'd like to bop but can't because of the restraints of the game. plus an old fella who sits somewhere around there and talks about opera s and suchlike.there is a snooker table in the same room. But no key anywhere , seems to me this could have been made a bit more accessible i.e hidden in the office or suchlike? so about to give up now.

But I thank you for your ever helpful kind comments and apologize for being a grumpy old man!! I hesitate to no clip because that's against the spirit of this section of the mission. I completed on assassin but this has become too much for me!! Heaven help me if I tried to do saboteur! I won't rate it just based on the one part but would like to thank Fieldmedic for the work he's put in.

Sorry its a little tricky to describe as I'm only guessing where you've been during the playing of this mission

Start back at the coal bin room - there are waterwheels in there - and go through the door by the waterwheels. In this room is a large vat of water (with a small lid that you can open). This is the room you want to be in to follow previous instructions. This room has a grated platform for you to walk on with machinery etc. underneath. Take the door with the long straight stairway (not wooden), cross a small bridge and go into the landing. Again there are 3 doors in this room. The one straight across leads to back alley, the 1st door beside you leads to stairs to the sewer. the next door in this room is the one you want. The key should be on the desk/table I believe.

I feel your frustration as I too spent a lot of time on it. Hope this is a little clearer for you and you don't give up just yet.

  5. But can anyone tell me where to find

the key to the metal door at the foot of the stairs? i found the lever quickly enough but without the key .......

I'm thinking you mean the key for the vault? There are a few ways to get to it. It is a back room between the sewers, the boiler room & the back door (not the one going to the garden) close to the back door actually. If you're in the room that has giant water tank, there are 3 doors. One leads to the hotel, one leads to the room with coal and the other leads up a long stairway. The key should be in the room in the landing. The room (I think has a name) but am drawing a blank right now.

Hope this finds you the right key.

  6. Thanks again , I completely missed

the book perched against the shelf blundering around in the dark! because of that I thought it was being kept in the office or somewhere else.Trust me to over complicate things!

You're welcome and please don't feel bad

I too spent a lot of time on this part of the mission looking for the book (and looting). I thought about it being in the foyer but every time I tried to get there I was spotted and the mission would end so thought there must be a clue elsewhere. I too had to ask.

Glad you got it in the end.

  7. I thought I was going to enjoy this one but I'm growing increasing frustrated on the ( simplest ?) assassin level. Is there some sort of

guest book somewhere as all I'm doing is wandering around hopefully looking for the intended victim. I've checked the foyer and office and no dice , all the books appear to be non frobable.

Can someone give me a straight clue on this one , thanks.

You should have a journal in your inventory with the name of your target. You then need to get the guest book and look up that name (large book on back counter in foyer) to find the room number

This can be a bit tricky (I found anyways), if you want I can tell you how I did it - let me know.

  8. When I first started playing I picked easy until I became comfortable with how things worked and looked - light gem, crouching, aiming etc.. Once I figured out my style of play and what I personally wanted to accomplish (all the loot, no fighting -as I suck at it, etc.) I tried higher difficulty settings on different missions. I'm not a fan of goals changing with the higher difficulty settings as I like to experience the whole mission and want the chance to do that without having to go hardcore. Setting the goals as optional in the lower difficulties would seem to spread out the playability of a mission. And spiders should never be counted in the "no kills" objective. In my opinion. I voted no but not necessarily for the reason listed.

  9. regarding keys in reception

when you steal the guest book - needed for the objective in the assassin mission - then the receptionist starts to wander about outside the reception desk and I could then jump over the counter and pick up the keys

Which mission and objective are you struggling with as you don't need those keys to complete any of them. I only picked them up to save the bother of lock picking - being lazy I suppose

I am doing the assassin mission - any hints on where the guest book is that you mentioned? I was looking at those keys in reception also as I was finding the lock picking was becoming tedious.

  10. Congratulations on your first mission Tr00pertj! It was a nice little challenging mission. I seem to be the only one that's had a unique experience with it so I will speak of that.

I had no trouble realizing the loot goal in fact that was my first and only goal checked off for quite awhile as I could not find a secret room anywhere. From reading the clue in the diary and reading here I knew there was one but was having no luck so left it over night and came back to it this morning. Found it finally fairly quickly even though I'd been in the spot several times. Anyways once in the room I grabbed the valuable loot and this happened (note the lower left corner)post-3777-0-66604800-1375031492_thumb.jpg this stayed until I picked up another item of loot. The next difficulty I had was trying to find a way into the church as noted in the diary. I tried to kill the spiders (because I must) and could not because they seemed to be stuck in the wall. (this happened in another mission but don't remember which one) so I used a noise arrow to draw them out so that they would continue on their path. I had to wait quite a while for them to settle but I finally managed to kill them. I could not find a church entrance anywhere in the cave so went into the sewer and was surprised when the mission ended and I was still short on loot (I like it all). I spent quite a lot of time running back and forth between the church and the cave looking for a missing entrance until I ended up no-clipping around between the two out of frustration(sorry) and much to my surprise I spotted the missing loot. Never did find a way into the church as the diary hinted at.

Anyways despite some frustrating occurrences I did enjoy the mission and look forward to more from you. Sorry this is all bunched up, I can't seem to make paragraphs in my posts any more.
