  1. Starting from the first TDM updates and until now with the update 1.04 to 1.06 I have the same error with tdm_update.exe. I run it, click "Continue", and get this:

     

    Downloading mirror information... failed, cannot continue.

    No mirror information available - cannot continue.

    Total bytes downloaded: 0 bytes

     

    Here is TDM update log:

    Step thread finished: 0

    Step thread started: 1

    Step thread finished: 1

    Step thread started: 2

    Downloading mirror list from bloodgate.com...Initiating Download from http://bloodgate.com/mirrors/tdm/pub/pk4/tdm_mirrors.txt

    Download failed: Couldn't connect to server

    Mirrors download failed: Couldn't connect to server

    Step thread finished: 2

     

    Tried many times - result is the same.

     

    Windows XP, temp folder is empty.

     

    Any suggestions?

  2. What are you waiting for? Santa Claus? Just fire up DR and build it! We work our butts off for over 5 years[0] to give you a complete toolset, and all you do is waiting for someone to build more stuff for you? Unbelievable!

     

    It is not necessary to be so nervous, there was a proposition in the first post of the topic to share opinions from darkfate, I state one of them, and not only mine, but also of many people from there. Thats all.

  3. 1) There are people who want more complex maps from TDM, with more object interaction, something that would take hours of play to solve.

     

    Damn yeah! ;)

    As for me this is the main... hmm... "problem" for now in most of TDM fms, I really like almost everything in the mod (i mean sound, graphic, gameplay etc), but most of fms are like a small part of one really complex huge mission, but I understand perfectly, that the main thing there is time for the mappers to learn how to use TDM tools on full capacity... So - wait, wait, wait... :)

  4. If need, steal and grab on real life ;) .

     

    Maybe i really should try :wacko:

     

    Author game must drive player by plot. He must report to player where need come and put obstacles, that conscious him. No maze-like gameplay.

     

    Of course, but only softly, by gentle hints, not in a straight line.

  5. I'm until not FM-maker. But ideas:

    * Adding road decree. If not do automap, they help to orient.

    * A key books or notes, that contains scenario info, must remove to invertory. And trash and atmosphere notes - still lie. Then player understand - what text need reading for walkthrough.

    * When player try picklocking door, important for scenario, character must say "Locked. I need key to open it.". Then will be understood.

    * When player gets in important room, character may say "<Thing> must be here".

     

    In general, something should happen, when player walk to right way.

     

    Most TDM fms are much more easier than T1/T2 fms, do you want them to be even more easier? Not a good idea at all... The door doesn't lockpick? Then look for the key or for another way to enter - it is clear without any help. "Important room"? But player can't know it, he came to the place in the first time, and he must do everything himself "to find a way through the quest", that's for me one of the main things in the whole Thief series and in best fms for it.

  6. Hello to all the TDM community. I’m not fm-maker or programmer, just a Thief big fan, but I want to say, that it is really great to see you guys did (and do) a lot of work for such huge project The Dark Mod is. Waiting every new TDM fm, and the last ones are really impressive. All the best to TDM team in developing and keeping alive all THIS!

     

     

    And about Dark Fate – most of us keep an eye on TDM with big hopes and expectations, don’t make your viewpoint about all the russian (and in general post-soviet) community only because of some negative or crude posts of single members ;)
