In my head, TDM is now a privacy themed FPS.It's fun to read chrome's translation of turkish to english.

Yeah, sorry 7318 - the idea of bringing modern shooter techniques into TDM quite tickled me, but I was being quite snarky without seeing what you had done. Fortunately the dev team are a lot more fair-minded than I am.I'm offering something not requesting.

like many modern shooters
Having an AI in my face, bellowing "NOW I'VE GOT YOU, THIEF!" and whacking me with a sword is usually enough of a HUD for me.

I missed it the first time I went up there. Actually thought you had made a newbie mistake by having a lit lamp on an upper level that didn't lead to anything interesting. How wrong I was...It's interesting to see that something I felt I telegraphed really really well (the hatch to the attic / hay storage) is so easily missed by the player.

This may be totally irrelevant/facepalmingly 'well dur' but I'll throw it out there anyway: make sure TDM is running off your Radeon card and not off your integrated graphics card (if you have one).
Just speaking from experience: when I updated to 1.08 back along, Windows 7 decided that my playing experience would be enhanced by switching TDM play from my GT550M to Intel HD 3000. Bless.

Really liked this article: http://www.p4rgaming.com/new-mirrors-edge-uses-no-buttons-in-its-controls-to-improve-accessibility/
OK, they're pretending to say it about Mirror's Edge, but we know which game they really mean.

I reckon it could qualify viaRequiem's high fantasy themes and framing some Builders as "good guys" kinda counts there too...
i) the snatching-the-crowns-off-the-heads section,
and ii) the Evil; if Sotha's concept of the Shadows in LQD counts as unusual (and it is), the Evil took that concept and cranked it up a fair bit.
The 'problem' with LQD and Requiem is that the unusual aspects were so well integrated into the story line, they may not have seemed as unusual as they actually were (if that makes sense). 'The Builder's Blocks', on the other hand, I'd say is extremely unusual, but only in strict TDM terms; in a broader gaming sense, it's actually pretty familiar.
Or am I the only person hereabouts who's played Tetris?
The fact that you can play that in TDM is pretty cool - I just wonder if someone (with more imagination than I have) could take the concept and adapt it into an integrated puzzle challenge as part of a more 'traditional' TDM FM.

In case it helps anyone; got this sorted (completely accidentally) by going into the 3D settings of my Intel HD control panel and clicking 'Restore defaults'.
I have no memory of adjusting the 3D settings, but, wevs. TDM 2.0 now operating in full 'single-figure fps whenever an AI appears' glory. Hurrah!

Look like it may be a 2.0 physics bug: http://forums.thedar...post__p__323666

In case you're not aware, you can re-use rope arrows: assuming you can reach it, just get close enough to highlight it and then frob it. If you have to climb the rope to reach it, just make sure you haven't got a huge drop beneath you when you frob it.- A couple more rope arrows would be helpful
Apologies if I'm telling you something you already know.

Nope - was forced to do some creative stacking (check the corner of the balcony in the pic I posted).Dammit, I knew I didn't check thoroughly enough. You managed to get up on the chimney (which has a bit of player clip) and from there onto the roof of the barn?
The feeling of accomplishment when I launched off and found myself mantling 'solid air'...

Yeah, getting out of bounds is my TDM 'game within a game'. Yours was one of the most challenging yet. Also, about getting out of bounds. Man, that is some determination. When I noticed that pile of furniture there on the balcony I just burst out laughing. This is simply the kind of antics that the engine allows you to do, I friggen' love it. I haven't had this much fun with gaming since I dunno' - Arx Fatalis maybe?

Just played through on all levels, and can only back up what everyone else has said so far: really good, tight little mission.
Got spotted and whacked a few times but managed to tough it out without reloading (although a healing potion or two in the kitchen would have been welcome).
The guard turning the lights back on was excellent, although I noticed (i) he didn't do it every time (in the bedroom anyway), and (ii) a couple of times he came into the bedroom when the light was off and the bathroom door was open; checking the bathroom door seemed to take priority over turning the light on - not a biggie, just seemed a bit odd. I'm afraid I usually neutralised him by
waiting outside by the bureau for him to go into the bedroom and then putting the bureau chair in front of the door.
I have no shame.
I did have a little "Huh?" moment when I opened the secret wardrobe switch on medium level. It would have been nice to have had a bit more of a challenge on the highest level (maybe a surprise guard down with the spice?) but I'm nit-picking.
The only other problem I had was that you had playerclipped the outer walls and roofs rather too effectively for my liking, but with a determined effort and (if I may say so) some rather creative stacking of furnishings & fittings I managed to get somewhere I shouldn't:
I am truly, truly sorry.
Anyway, my near-OCD determination to go skybox-walking aside: well done again! Excellent first-time map which may even stir me into trying to go through the tutorial. Again. Thanks for your time and effort - much appreciated!

It's the wings/scrolly things on either side of the light gem - they should flatten down when you crouch.
-
It isn't just the fact that TDM/Thief punishes you for getting into fights that makes me love it so; it's the fact that it rewards you for running away and hiding.
Like Obs, I usually never win in a fight, but some of the best gaming moments I've ever had, ever, in all the games I've ever played, have been the times I've been discovered in Thief/TDM, followed by me running away and hiding.
In case I haven't made it clear, I think running away and hiding =  . Yes, seriously.

Just installed this, and having a smaller light gem is actually really neat; only thing is (and sorry to sound picky), the crouch indicator no longer works. Any chance of getting it to work? Can I adjust something in my settings?

And that's unfortunate....??? Finding those areas where you can get them but they can't get you is about the only thing that makes undead missions playable for me (but I'm a total wuss when it comes to the undead).Unfortunately, tables and the cauldron containing the acid allowed me to kill all the undead in the mission without getting killed
If you haven't done it yet, play The Lich Queen's Demise. You can do the same thing but
there's no point cuz they just respawn.

Not to mention the FM author(s).often too, they can exhaust the player.I've said it before, and I'll say it again: 'Too Late' is one of my favourite missions, and there's pretty much no story here at all. 2 empty rooms, an outdoor area, one big room, then another big room divided up into smaller areas. At some point I may rip it off totally do a heartfelt homage to it, but I think even that might be beyond my spatial & architectural cretinousnessnessness.
However, I'd also have to say that my most immersive TDM experiences have been from the big missions (e.g. Heart of Lone Salvation, No Honour Among Thieves and Requiem).
Ah, heck. I'm just glad people can make these things, whatever the size.
Do you know something we don't?Oh, hi Aida! Be sure to behave this time around.- 1

I guess most of you guys have already seen this, but for us new(er)comers: -

Finally finished the whole thing last night, and, yeah - wow! Many thanks for all the improvements, some really atmospheric sections. Gotta be about two years since I last played and boy, the memories keep flooding back. It would be nice to get the cosmetic details sorted at some point (as pointed out earlier by skacky, AH etc), but I can imagine that'd take quite a bit of time, and I just wanted to say I really appreciated being able to play it NOW. Thanks again for all you guys work.
yeah, that was really cool. How the crap did you get a "No Honor Among Thieves" Overlay on the main menu while this campaign is the currently installed FM?

A question in relation to the noise arrow...was surprised to find that after using it I could pick it up again. Is this normal
Yes.

And this is where this thread started to get a bit snarky.Am I the only one that thinks certain 'review' threads like this are just a provocative method that some new players use to get special handholding privileges most of us would ignore otherwise?
@Thedarkbunny & 161803398874989 - Ungoliant may not be the only one who thinks what he does, but I'd say he's in a minority. As the majority of this thread (indeed, forum) demonstrates, most people here are happy to help newcomers, willing to respond to feedback & questions and give suggestions/help when they can.
Dunno if this is relevant but I'll chuck it out there anyway - FWIW, I know 'how' (in theory) to use flashbombs, but in practice I nearly always bork it, so I hardly ever bother using them. (I have especially fond memories of the times I managed to blind myself and leave the AI totally unaffected. )You can't get mad about people "twisting your words" if you're going to directly contradict yourself:
So in my case, knowing how to do something doesn't mean I've learnt how to do it (i.e. properly), so 161803398874989's point isn't necessarily self-contradictory. Dunno if this is what he means though.
My 2¢.
Thief 4 is trash.
