  1. I decided to try DarkRadiant and followed the instructions word by word until i got to the "dmap compiling" part here: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=A_-_Z_Beginner_Full_Guide_Start_Here!#Dmap:_Compiling_the_Mission The problem I was facing as a beginner is that the instructions were not enough, the path were mixed and shown forward and backward "\", "/" for folder structure. Then i tried to get smart from here http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/15152-darkradiant-and-darkmod-shortcut-folder-settings/ and still could not get the test to work, luckily, just in time this video came out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpkkE681TPo and i followed the steps EXACTLY as the video was explaining word by word and i managed to start my test mission, so i would like you to update the page "Dmap:_Compiling_the_Mission" http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=A_-_Z_Beginner_Full_Guide_Start_Here!#Dmap:_Compiling_the_Mission explanation for other newcomers how to do the first testrun of the level so they do not get frustrated like me I could see that i am not the first one to run into trouble at exactly this part of the A-Z guide, in my opinion this is the most important part, even if it sounds logical to the veteran dark radiant users out there anyhow, this is my first post in the forum so i just wanted to contribute this part as "feedback" so the A-Z can be improved at the right places for new users
  2. Hello guys, I think this is not a bad place to introduce myself, so here I go. I discovered TDM a few days ago, and I have to say the game is excellent and many missions are amazing. But moreover, I think the potential is tremendous, with so many passionate and skillful people. Could be the best stealth game ever, and make up for the trend of mainstream commercial stealth games that has been spreading lately. So I want to contribute. However, I am kind of lost in here. I know C++, but I never worked on practical projects (nor games) so I have no idea of how this works. I think AI is crucial and takes alot of work, so if I can help I will try. I had a look at the Coding wiki but the articles look too specific, where should I start ? I would love to work on FMs, possibly with others. Especially on plots since I used to write scenarii for pen & paper RPG, but I am also interested in level design. I guess I should start with the A-Z doc on DarkRadiant, right ? I can also translate into French. How does that work ? What about the readables in FMs ? Thanks for your help.
  3. Hey Taffers! I just wanted to say hello since I'm kinda new here. My friend lured me to start mapping and it's kinda growing on me ... I'm still trying to get him to work with me so he can do all the hard work Some really great maps out there, keep it up! Sound related question: So while I'm fiddling around trying to get a mood going, I found myself in need of reverb volumes ... or you know, volumes which set the acoustics to match a big space, small space etc., but I just can't seem to find anything on it. I recall it being a simple setting or volume when I modded using other editors (for some reason I don't remember if it was in Hammer or Unreal I used it?). Any help is appreciated! Hoping to share some work soon - The guy with the most epic teenager name ever, DEATHBLADE2014!!!111 (sorry, too tempting)
