I personally don't have a problem with it.

I'm thinking more of the lasting damage that the Liberals may have caused (though decidedly far less than the Republicans and W. have caused), than of a change of the party in power.

You are right. I took the D3_1.3_SDK.exe file from fileplanet.
I'm afraid that you need the 1.3.1 version of the SDK.
greebo: I already have a job, so I cannot afford so much time..Most of us don't have a lot of time. Greebo is an exception; I am decidedly not.
Over the next days, I will play with the SDK.And for the first task, I will probably let you to decide.
My only preference is to involve coding.
That's quite alright.
One more question: Is this thread public? Or should I ask what is the preffered way of discussing YM/Skype/other?Forums. This thread is internal, by the way.

If you're in the US, there are dedicated gamedev schools that would require less drastic moves.
Who am I kidding, come and live in Australia, it's a better place to live IMO.
This American concurs. He just wishes that your politics weren't even more reactionary than Shrub's.

Should I try to add "flesh" (and cloth?) as active surface for rope arrows so we can toy around with it?
That's only a legitimate question if you intend to commit to SVN. You muck about as much as you want on your own end.

I have to agree with Spar and Baddcog. The pile is too regular, but the mattress looks good.

Whoa.

Edit: TDM related questions. We only answer other questions every other Tuesday.
That is, unless you roll high on your bluff check!

-Maybe it means that he has a dark monitor and couldn't see much in the darker images, except the last three.
That's how I interpreted it, but maybe I failed my sense motive check...
Dammit, a 19 succeeds against my bluff check--barely. Your gamma in the screenshots are too low.
Now I read it several times since yesterday, and I still don't understand what exactly it means.Glad I'm not the only one...You two really ought to think about raising your Knowledge(gaming) skill.
He probably meant this:Close! http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0121.html Which of course, behind all the fourth-wall-breaking goodness, is one Giant (yay, pun!) reference to D&D.

If the denominator rises faster than the numerator, the number comprised of both the numerator and the denominator goes to zero. I'm not sure what that means on a philosophical level.
It means that they will eventually converge. I believe Marx considered this the summation of the Proletariat revolution. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that integration of numerators and denominators also represented this sort of convergence.

I wouldn't know; I just failed my spot check on all but the last three--which look great, btw.

Death Squads are an improvement over crack-dealers? Sweet FSM, I'm glad I'm living in the States!

Pretty...

As for ice skating, the only thing that I noticed is, that it takes quite long when i.e. I walk forward into a wall or in some corner and then backpedal. It almost felt as if the characte got stuck, but afte realizing that there is an animated body, I think it's because the animation takes so long to reverse the body or something like that. It's not a big deal, but it is a bit strange. When I try to take a step backwards, it doesn't take me more then a second to do that in real life. Apart from that the movement feels quite ok.
It took me a while to get used to the ice-skating effect, too. While it's not very realistic, it does feel fairly natural after you get used to it. It seems to be mostly designed around the time it takes to go from a full sprint/jog to walking/running backwards, rather than the quick changes you can do when you haven't fully accelerated yet. Again, not realistic, but natural enough for it to be believable 90% of the time.

[...]if we were going to move the project anywhere, it would be to the quite amazing upcoming Crysis engine.
I'd agree completely if I thought that CryEngine2 would ever be ported to Linux--or if it were open-sourced.

So did I. I guess some people just like living in the last ice age.

Because that's Dram's local version. I seem to recall he put it up on ftp, somewhere.

Why not just run Doom 3 in windowed mode?

You might want to reconsider what "glorified" means.
You're right. I meant to say/should have said that it "amount to little more than glorified cutscenes," not, "almost always glorified cutscenes." My mistake.
-
I have to admit, I'm kind of schizophrenic when it comes to dialogue in games. I can fully appreciate locking in the player during dialogue--if the player is given dialogue options. Outside of RPGs, though, dialogue is almost always glorified cutscene (think HL2). At least dialogue trees give you SOME choice (even if in most cases it's only the illusion of choice).
Most of the time, though, it's far better to show the player something rather than tell them, and then, it's preferable to let the player do it rather than show it (or if it's literally impossible for the player to do, let the player discover it on his own).

We got the place, I'm happy to report. Sigh. I already feel better, the need to pack and stuff is displacing the goblins twixt me ears. I cannot wait to get my fish tanks set up at the new place.
Good.

This is the same Yandros from Ttlg, I presume?
-
Well, that sounds like a huge improvement. I hope everything works out, mate.

I lika da bass!!!! Keep da bass!!
I keep hearing this being sung shouted over a heavy, thumping bass--techno style. Makes me wish I had a music program so I could write down exactly what I'm hearing--that and for whatever reason, I keep hearing it in 5-4 rather than common time. Are there even any techno songs in 5-4?

That's easy! We just start talking about office sex, which segues into a discussion over Bill Clinton and interns, which leads into Al Gore and why he should have been the 43rd president. C'mon, pick a hard one (no pun intended)!
Ouch, man. I can't say it's too much better in the States though. Medicine is just as bad, but I suspect that engineering degrees get off a little easier.
