  1. This is not a promise, nor any kind of pressure on other mission authors to make a specific kind of mission. But I am interested in what kind of missions you would like to see made and released for TDM. I will start with a few I would enjoy.

    • Giant Bonehoard-style tomb-robbing mission. Self-explanatory. Something with a large area to explore, various tombs to break into, a few puzzles and traps to spice things up, and maybe some common thread to link them. I have wanted to make one for a long-long time, but haven't gotten to it yet.
    • Weird Pagan mission: either Constantine's mansion-style craziness, or something that brings out the creepy and unsettling side of Pagans. Maybe even something like The Maw of Chaos.
    • Mines and other underground locations. Rusty machinery, forgotten and haunted sections, flooded areas and so on.

There are a lot more kind of fan missions I enjoy, of course (I enjoy most of them), but these are the ones I would love to see more of.

  2. I think what Melan and Biker are getting at is that this mission is quite difficult, and designed for experienced TDM players.

If we can get some average players to give feedback to make it more comfortable for their skill level, then the mission can be tweaked so that the "easy" skill level is enjoyable but still challenging for beginning TDM players.

This can be done while keeping the expert skill difficult and designed for the hardcore long time players who really want a beating from the game.

    Indeed!

  3. I finally played the updated campaign. Solid work all around, but.

This is a bit about me being a stick in the mud, especially with such a wonderful update, but I am sorry that all the wild flowers were removed from this version. They gave a wonderful character to the original NHAT, a look that was more Grimm than grim (fairy tale vs. gritty realism), and which looked wonderful as they swayed in the wind. That is a big loss. With such outstanding visual work through the mission pack as the updated caves in mission 1, the sewers and smugglers' cove in mission 2, and the little touches in mission 3, and the refined gameplay throughout, it is disappointing they of all things were cut.

  4. I am serious about finding a good recording of the building and using it as an ambient. It is really good, Brosius-level work. B)

As for buildings and intellectual property... nowadays you can't distribute photos of the Brussels Atomium or the lit-up Eiffel tower (!) due to IP tomfoolery, so I wouldn't be surprised.

  5. The new lights look like something that could crop up in Metropolis.

WRT their level of detail, if they are not used much in outdoors areas, a higher than average tri count is probably not absolutely relevant. Plus, as hardware gets better, even as this process has slowed down recently, it becomes less and less important.

  6. Playing this again, I am once again reminded what an excellent mission it is! I have found not one but multiple new ways to infiltrate and rob my target. This mission doles out spaces like no other. There are so many locations that are just there - streets, houses, balconies that all serve to make the place more complex. Some people would consider it wasteful or even confusing, but in truth, it is just overly generous.

    We are not worthy!

  7. You can't just link pictures of Beckford's Folly without mentioning William Beckford himself! :) The man was as crazy and almost as rich as Constantine (although his building projects ended up wrecking his fortune). He was basically designing and building crazy, super-ambitious fan missions before he could do it in Dromed or DarkRadiant. He also wrote Vathek, which is worth reading if you like gothic novels.

  8. Capela: You definitely need to visportal your level! That's very important for the exteriors just as much as the interiors. I learned it the hard way with Return to the City (and then again and again).

Perhaps Bikerdude can help you with some suggestions, since he is really good at VP-ing almost impossible places.

If you've got visportals, you can use all shadowcasting lights all the time.
