  3. How to update from 2.09 to 2.10

    Hi, 

     

    Hope you can help. I thought there was an updater within the TheDarkMod launcher.

    I see 2.10 is released and would like to update

     

    When I open the launcher, at the first page is show "TDM 2.09/64" at the bottom left corner  When I click on that, it says I have the latest update.   So.. how can I upgrade to 2.10 and make use of all the hard work you guys have put into making this update?

     THIS WAS AMAZING!!  Felt like a whole game unto itself!

    I for one am glad it went on for quite a while.. pleasantly surprised when it did so ( why stop of great thing that is going?!) . Great plot, love the difficulty in quite a few areas... very challenging.

    Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent with all of us, and also your time you put into this!

    I think I am almost there, WOW, what a great FM!

    tho I dont get how anyone could figure to release the crystal by doing what you need to do, I was looking for

    red powder as it says in the book - I had to read a spoiler here to figure it out...maybe I missed something. I know the powder was sealed in glass...according to the book (?)- game is not in front of me now.... just trying to remember..

     

     

    One big thing i dont like about this mission is I know it has to end!!!!!!!!!

    Just curious, any thoughts to overweight models or models that are shorter / taller than the standard? Besides seeing a difference in face for the sake of variety, a difference in stature would also be welcome: is this difficult to do? Keep up the great work!

  12. Important small items Brightener

    I think I need to update it with the new video options. You can check by turning ambient rendering to normal or simple I think. If that doesn't work then check the brightener.mtr is in the materials folder within the darkmod folder and not directly in the darkmod folder.

     

    Anyway, I'll do an update of the file later. Thanks for reminding me.

     

     

    IMO, The keys should be no brighter than the clothing they are against - or whatever backdrop is against a key. To me that is more real; find my settings to be fine, I just have to look hard, after all, I am in the dark...and I have to be careful.

     

     

    Tho' thanks to Fidcal for offering this.

    Followed this from tthe begining....already a year? So much has been done, the whole thing is incredible!

     

    Thanks so much for all of the time and effort into developing this!

     

    Also thanks to the FM authors who are using it, to make some great missions!

    Not sure why you feel you need to get imporvments/updates done by a certain time,( do you put timelines on yourselves? or maybe you don't, which is fine, but must feel good when you put out an update and it be reflected in gameplay

     

     

    - still amazes me you guys don't get into heated arguments about what to work on etc. We have programmers here at work, during discussion group - they get really angry if what was prioritized was not what they wanted...

  21. Things that could be improved

    I would go for droppable keys:

     

    I would hate to have an auto-unlock if I had the right key among the 6 keys I have: The building where I work, I need access to different areas, and all the keys look the same - we are not allowed to mark them, so I have to go through a number of keys to find the right one. Thats life

     

     

    If I was a theif in a mansion, and lifted a number of keys off guards, and they all looked the same, then I would HAVE to try each one to a specific door, that's life - and makes opening the door more of a challange with guards patrolling

     

    That auto-unlock is baby-holding hands...

    And that's why adding the oil was such a bad idea. Sophomoric, cheap, embarrasing. Comedy has a place in every game, but that was just base pandering.

     

    I thought it was pretty feasible, there are a lot of very slick substances out there - mixing a heavy grease with a lite oil and put that on the bottom of your shoes and your not likely to go anywhere on cobblestone for a little while- not sure about wood ....

    Just as there are medications you are supposed to take with food, be neat if you ate before you took a health potion, it would work better..... not saying to implement it, but would be some motivation to eat some of the food - otherwise, why eat it?

  25. LCD specifications for Dark Mod

    Hi, Not wanting to spend too much ~ 160.00

     

    I've been focusing in my LCD searches on the response time: is 5 msec good enough? I would prefer 2 msec, but my choices are much fewer.

    I also pay attetion to Pixel Pitch being less than 0.3mm

     

    Any other important specifications I should be aware of?

     

    Your experience with LCD and Darkmod viewing?
