  1. sorry i had to leave this lightning thingy,

making advanced stuff like this is to risky for me ^-^.

im sorry for coming with so many questions but now im stuck with alot of bugs and stuff but anyway.

in the media browser ive used "other materials" as wall textures and after a while they turn to "shader not found" textures that isnt what bothers me what bothers me is that ingame the sides that turned into no shaders are all black :/ how do i fix this? without having to manually "copy shader" and "paste shader (natural) "

also i would like to apologize for the delay for this level very busy with school and real life now so i dont have much free time to work with this but i think it will atleast be finished in 2 weeks (i really hope)

  2. ok i have yet another question ^-^

i thought of adding thunder to a room with a glass ceiling but it would just be weird if there came no lightning, but i cant find anything in the wiki that helps.

so there is 2 questions here?

how do i make light switch on and off on a not so scheduled time (like its a 30% chance that every 10th second it will blink (?) 2-3 times and 2 seconds later the sound will come?

it sounds like a really complicated thing to do so if anyone would like to help plz do :]

edit: that was 1 question ^-^

  3. The screenshots really look good! :) Since I'm colorblind, the mansion looks quite red to me and I was surprised when everybody said it was brown. :)

Anyway, I like the look of it, because it really looks very Thiefy to me. :) And I love mansion missions. That's what I always liked in Thief. The mansions looked usually so comfy you would like to get into a chair and sit there relaxing just listening to the crackling from the fireplace. :)

    haha thas cool :)

im gonna make a special room just for you ;)

    x)

its gonna take some time since i get alot of weird bugs the more i add, and some visportals dont work because of changes.

anyway im trying to fix that right now :)

  4. hi maybe you already know about this but ill post it up here so you konw :].

the bug is when your shouldering a body and and then go pick up loot thenyou cant drop the body but the body is still there so you cant do stuff like, attack jump run and such.

just thought i'd post it up here ^^

  5. ok i got a really weird bug now, i was testing the map again and then i stood in a staircase ande was looking towards a light just in front of me it didnt lit up the floor i was standing on it was just pitch black and when i pressed the crouch button the light just disapeared and everything went black? i dont have a visportal there and im not using any of my own textures there, what could be the problem?

im gonna test checking noshadows on the light.

edit: nvm i made it into func static and it works alrigh after that :]

  6. No I would vary the theme somewhat in different areas of the house. Typically the areas divide up into the grand living areas and grand sleeping areas, the dining area, the servants areas including kitchen and sleeping quarters, rough basement/cellar, and guards' sleeping areas all depending on the size of the house.

yeah, it would be anoying going to the servants/slaves areas seing snobbish tapestrys and such.

you know any good site were i can get free (free to use) textures?

i kind of need some good paintpaper/fabric textures. nad saintlucia offers me only 2 that wouldnt be enough to textureize my mansion :)

  7. You can try reducing the radii of the lights to just leave enough shadow in between for the player to crouch. It will also look better. Same vertically; that ceiling will look better if it keeps fading into shadow.

yeah ill try and reduce it, maybe making it more "orangy" to make it more moody,

well as i said its not finished so i it will look different when im finish :]

  8. Nevermind, you already did :P

They look quite good, I like the consistent red-brown theme. As well the shadows. It looks there are no extinguishabl lights, tho, so sneaking in it will be hard :)

yes i read the wiki about the story of the world something about rich homes have electric lights, anyway i will put some electric switch or something :]

  9. Did you say you were used to mapping in Oblivion? You might need to start thinking less ambitiously as far as outside views go!

I always recommend beginners should attempt a very modest map and COMPLETE it - not just enjoy quickly making terrain and lights and add a few models. A tiny finished mission is satisfactory and playable; an over-ambitious unfinished one is not. Make a 4 or 6 room house, modest sized rooms, interior only, no exterior. Not too small rooms or too cluttered else then you get problems with AI getting stuck in corners. Visportaling is easy. Not too many lights. Add some loot and a few house guards. Start the player near an upstairs window or something. Now complete the objectives. The FM is finished, playable. Now you can improve on it as much as you like. Add more rooms or add a door that leads to an open courtyard as the start finish. At any point if you get bored or too busy to finish it doesn't matter so much - you still have made a complete mission!

Now... I must get back to my three over-ambitious unfinished missions. Excuse me....

    höhö your right :]

but its so much fun getting into big stuff x]

    but i shouldnt.

but im gonna do as you say :]

but i wont stop trying to finish this one but ill make it wait :)
