  1. Same as with the Xbone, I think that nothing they do will convince me to buy their game just because of how they had it there in the first place, showing their attitude. This actually scares me even more anyway since they're removing all this stuff at the last second, after already troubled development. This game is going to be a massive hunk of poor programming.

  2. I'm not sure how to really answer this because I generally don't play the same game for forever. I do play the Stalker games pretty often though, although I'm kind of burnt out at the moment after finishing the first game with a mod. Currently playing Death to Spies which is essentially Hitman in WWII Germany. Playing through Quake and Dark Souls at the moment too.

  3. Well the game is essentially the same every time. You need to collect a certain amount of machine pieces and bring them to the center island. Where the pieces spawn, where robots spawn, loot, and the landscape all change though. You can beat a game in about 5-8 hours generally but it's built for replayability. The issue is that the gameplay is essentially the same every time, which is probably why people are saying that. You look around for pieces and kill the robots/distract the robots guarding pieces. This was when the game only had the standard hunters and dogs though. They've added a few more NPCs since I've last played and there are more to come and that will shake things up. Remember, it isn't finished, so if you want to wait until it is to play it nobody would blame you.
  4. I pledged to the Kickstarter. It's definitely pretty cool, but it doesn't feel as much like Stalker as I would have liked. Probably because it emphasizes stealth more and doesn't have as much sense of progression. Still cool though. Really need to play it more since it's been updated a lot since I last played.

  5. I was excited for the game but it won't let me play. It crashes about 10 minutes into the game every time I play and I haven't been able to find a solution. At least Stalker gives me a hint to what's wrong when it crashes, but they decided not to include that in the 4A engine for some reason when looking at Xray for inspiration.

  6. I am so tired of people hating on thief 4 when they haven't even played it. Judging an 8+hr experience from 15mn of gameplay and a few rumors on its troubled development is stupid. You know what amazing games came out of troubled development? Deus ex 1, Thief 1, Half-life 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Morrowind, LA Noire, Fable, STALKER... the list goes on.

Developers also said in an interview that focus mode can be completely disabled from the main menu.

Also, Dishonored does NOT look like Thief 4... at all.

I hope that thief 4 is going to be great and I trust the developer (who made the best sequel to the deus ex franchise since the original) to do a good job.

Come on people, have a little faith.

Troubled development is one thing. Troubled development on top of having a garbage game that shits all over its predecessors is a completely different thing. They're doing EVERYTHING wrong. I seriously can't think of anything more that they could do worse.

As for the focus mode being able to be disabled, it doesn't matter. The game is designed around it. I was optimistic about all the casual things that could be turned off in Hitman Absolution too and lo and behold the game is almost broken when you do that because they game was designed with it in mind. Another thing is the HUD in Dishonored, which you could disable, but I recall at least one part of the game (which was one of the choices in one of the levels) that couldn't be completed because you needed the game to tell you exactly where to go. It'll be the same in this game, sure, you can turn the stuff off but it's not going to make the game any better and will probably make it worse.

Also I hope you know that, while Thief 4 is being made by the same developer as HR, it's not made by the same team, so there's really no reason to rely on them doing a good job, especially in spite of all the shitty things we've heard about the game so far.

  7. Hey Sakonosolo,

    hint:

    Look up.

    exact solution:

You can enter the greengrocer's through a window on the upmost floor which can be reached via a rope arrow or clever mantling. Note that if you solve the greengrocer quest after defeating The Evil, things will play out differently than if you do it before hand.

I climbed all around the greengrocer's place like 10 times and never noticed any entrance :P . Should play it again to do that.

I really liked this mission. Reminds me of the tower mission by Sotha in that you descend to retrieve an artifact and destroying it kills all the enemies in the level. I especially liked the part where you go around removing the skeleton's crowns. Though that was pretty funny.

  8. Hey Tr00pertj,

    Hint:

You need to have 4 of the shrines turned on, and the rest off. The ancient hammer letter tells you which ones to activate.

    Answer:

Turn on Ice, Earth (green one in the center), Cup, and Skull.

Some people have a hard time identifying Earth since while the symbol on that shrine is the closest to "Earth" I could find, it's rather abstract. Just look for the one with green lights, or specifically the one on the ground floor directly in the center of the temple.

I was just about to come ask about this. I was thinking that the circle with the x in it was earth, as it looks kind of like a rock. The one you're talking about looks more like wind to me.

  9. I really hated how frob and use item were one keybind in the first two Thief games. Combined with the default where picked up items are immediately switched to, too many times did I have a flash bomb or something else usable equipped and used it instead of opening a door if I was in a hurry. So much so that I turned off "automatic switch to picked up item" in Thief 2, which made it a pain when picking up letters/notes and having to search for them to read.

And as for above, I've never noticed items being used instead of bodies or candles either. I'd imagine that bodies and candles when holding them have priority over whatever is in the item slot.

  10. Is the FM with the forest No Honor Among Thieves, Pt. 3?

Yeah, that's it I think. The single screenshot I have of it is just labeled "Forest". But yeah, in the forest part of that level I was getting something like 20-30 fps which was apparently caused by some brush intersecting another or something like that that they're in the process of fixing.

  11. OS: Win7 64bit

    CPU: i5 760 @ 3.5GHz

    RAM: 8GB DDR3

    GPU: GTX 670 2GB (Drivers: 331.40)

Experienced Performance: Pretty good. 1920x1200 full screen with vsync on, 4x msaa and everything else maxed (bloom slider isn't entirely off but very low) and getting a solid 60 fps for the most part. Diving underneath water will knock it down to 30 fps but I think that's because of some effect that I'm too lazy to turn off. I've had the framerate drop on a few fan missions, like Mandrasola when looking at the ship near the beginning and in the forest on one of the fan missions which I forget the name of, but that turned out to be an issue with the optimization of the map which I think has been fixed.

  12. Cool, I need to practice that. Also catching bodies before they fall like in the video. At least I know it's possible (for both) now.

What I don't get (yes, I'm playing TDM for years and I still don't get things) is why hitting high on the head is less effective.

It only matters with helmet guards I think. Most people without helmets can be hit on the head anywhere, but if they have a helmet, hitting them too high on their head will just hit the helmet and do nothing.

  13. It's pretty frustrating if you're just coming from the Thief games because most guards that I've noticed in TDM wear helmets, making it so you can't just go up behind them and bump them in the head. I kind of like it though as it forces me to not just go through and knock everyone in the level out. I have managed to hit people in the face though and knock them out but that's pretty difficult to do. I haven't watched the video yet so maybe some of these things are addressed.

  14. So I'm playing through this mission and I'm kind of stuck. It feels like I've been everywhere but I haven't gotten anything that could be for the achievement about finding more info about the Heart.

I've been to the library, but apparently there's a switch or something in there that I need to find. I've been to the top of the stairs with the demon girl and gotten the objectives added to my list. I got the book of rogues. I'm sure that the info about the Heart will help me if I could just find it. Need a little help with doing that though.

  15. Sotha, your missions are always awesome. I just finished this one. Excellent mission all around. Really tense at moments

like the skeletons almost immediately relighting lights that I shot out to get past and in the weeping halls with the shadow people, which is one of the best experiences I've had in a fan mission in this mod.

There's only one thing that I could say was an issue, and it seems like it wasn't something that common.

After I put all the ingredients into the pot and boiled it, the character did his little monologue and then I started walking back through the halls with the shadows to go upstairs and kill the queen. A couple seconds after I exited the cauldren room, I heard a big crash and the character did the monologue that seemed like it was meant for when you kill the queen and I got the objective and everything. So the queen killed herself somehow and I have no idea what it was. Not sure if it's a bug or a dynamic event caused by some things in the environment or what, but figured that that's not how you wanted players to complete the level so letting you know.

    Edit: Reading the above

is it possible that the queen could have walked into the cannonball, given how it works? Does the noise the cannonball makes work if it just touches something? I didn't see her when exting the weeping halls though so that could not be it.
