Love this mission, but I've found a bug. Once I'm on the first floor, if I open certain doors I get an error message that says ' Multiple instances of Halfrid Quill" or something like that. Then game crashes to the Main Menu.
Too bad. This is my favourite kind of mission. Some sneaking, some challenges, some stealing, no killing. Not too much equipment.

Oh, I see. Thanks for getting back to me.
This is such a good mission. It kind of snuck up on me. It seemed so cut-and-dry at first and then all of a sudden it was a multiple-location mystery. Very cool.

I think I've hit a huge bug.
I found the key in the
SpoilerChurch
And went back to the attic room. I read the updated journal, and then frobbed the potion.
I'm sent to an Arctic scene, with a ship. As soon as that happens, I get the "Mission Complete" message and the mission just...ends.
Is this a known issue and is there a way around it?

Thank you!
This mission gets more and more intriguing as I go along. Very creative story idea.

Good mission so far, but now I'm completely stuck.
I have found the key that opens
SpoilerThe hatch in the basement of the second house in the mission, and I'm outside the house. But now what? There are o further clues as to what to do next. I got sick of wandering around this area and looked at some of the hints, but that doesn't help, either. I'm supposed to find the inheritance under a fern outside along the side of the house, but I have clicked and clicked and searched for over fifteen minutes and have found nothing anywhere outside the house. Very frustrating
Is there another readable I should find? Or could someone just tell me at least which
Spoilerside of the house I should search?

I have one last objective in the mission:
SpoilerKill 7 members of the masked cult.
I've found six of them: One in the locked bedroom, in the bed, three in the chapel (including the Leader), one in the wine storage area, one guarding Lady Mary, and one Guarding the priest.
Where is # 7?
Great Mission, by the way. I decided to try it on the hardest setting, and I love the challenge.
EDIT: I did a quick second run and this time got everyone. Not sure what I missed last time, perhaps I knocked out one of the villains and forgot to end his rotten life.
-
Thanks. That would have made my life easier, though in the end I had to be a bit more crafty to accomplish my mission, so all is well.
-
I'm playing Ulysses 2, and I'm having trouble with the rescue scenarios because I can't drag bodies up stairs. If you recall,
SpoilerThe hostages are in a pit. The masked kidnapper is right beside the hostage. I can easily take out the hostage-taker, but then I get caught because I can't drag the body up out of the pit and into the dark. I could put out the torches but I only have two water arrows, not enough to rescue three hostages.
The ability to pick up a body was vastly superior from a gameplay perspective.

Is the blackjack
SpoilerAvailable in this mission? I have cleared the basement, as far as I can tell, and I have everything else but not the blackjack. Is it in the basement?

Aha!
35 minutes ago, joebarnin said:Just checking, are you arming the mines? If you just drop them (R), then they don't arm. If you use them (U), they drop to the ground and start ticking and will explode when the haunts walk over them.
Even so, the haunts have to walk pretty much right on top of them. You can try lurking nearby and hitting the mine with a broadhead when the haunt gets close.
Aha! That would be it.
I did search the forums for instructions because I was obviously doing something wrong. Aha!
This is a great mission, BTW. I've found 4 secrets so far.
I'm still stuck on the final mission objective but I suspect that last thing I need will be down in the tombs.
-
Thanks! I got confused by the fact that
Spoilerthe statue didn't need to be turned as it was already in the correct position.
Any idea why the mines aren't exploding? I just can't get them to work.

Those guys are tough! The arrows go right through them. If you aim a fire arrow at the ground at their feet, so that the explosion bursts up into them, you can kill them that way. It is hard to do, you have to aim just right. I've never gotten holy-water arrows to do damage. The most effective weapon are the mines - if they walk over them, the explosion kills them dead. There are a few land mines available when you first get into the caves.
See my post immediately above.
SpoilerThe land mines do nothing at all.
-
Also, can I kill the
Spoilerhaunts with mines? I've laid them directly where the feet of the shadow hits and they don't explode. I've tried inching them over bit by bit to make sure they come into contact and still nothing. I have even heard the mine being kicked and seen it move and still no explosion.

I am unable to proceed in this mission because
Spoilerafter finally working out the puzzle in the mausoleum, I am unable to climb down the ladder. No matter which way I try to get down, it just isn't open wide enough for me to fit. It's as though the coffin hasn't slid over far enough.
Any help would be appreciated because otherwise I have no idea what to do anywhere else in the mission. I have found quite a bit of loot and a couple of secrets, but I am unable to progress any farther.
EDIT: Never mind. I tried it again and realized that I was standing in the way.
But I do have one more question: I am supposed to investigate Nehmiah, or whatever his name is.
SpoilerI have not been able to complete this objective. I found some information about him, and I have turned the statue, but turning the statue doesn't seem to do anything. I've been looking around literally for hours and hours (probably three or four hours spent down there) and have found nothing related to the statue.
I have his second journal, but not the first one. What am I missing here?

I've been trying to play this mission since it first came out, and I get stuck at the same place every time. Right near the beginning, you break the door and go into the barn, up the stairs, and then jump over to a ledge with an openable door. Through the door you're in a ruined building with a collapsed floor. I can see across the room to where I believe I have to go, but I have never been able to actually get there. It's so dark I can't see what I'm supposed to do. It's basically pitch black if you end up falling to the floor. Every time, I jump randomly for a few minutes and give up.
If I could only see what I was doing, this looks like it could be an absolute blast, but as it is...
Can anyone give me a hand with this spot in the mission? The one video playthrough I found was even darker than my screen, so no help there.

Where is the key for the lockbox (made of glass) that contains another key?
It's a little too convoluted. I destroyed everything out of frustration.
But great atmosphere.
Thanks. I do hate using walkthroughs, though. I'll have missed something stupidly obvious, no doubt.

As far as appearance and atmosphere goes this is very impressive. However due to the key hunt nature of this FM I am not enjoying myself. Hunting keys and searching everywhere for hidden switches are just not my thing. This is more my personal preference and less of a criticism. As a result I have no desire to complete this FM. Perhaps I will give it a second go some other time. Until I complete it I will refrain from voting.
I have to say I agree with this assessment, after several hours of frustrating running around. Every time I find a new key I think I've finally cracked it, but the keys don't open anything new. What use is a thief who needs keys to open doors, I wonder? The mission is also far too dark, even with my brightness and gamma set to maximum, so I might be missing things as a result.
It's a shame, because otherwise this is a decent mission and I would have loved to complete it.

So...good mission overall, but I've searched as many places as I can and now I'm left with the dreaded key search, which for me is like the big Monty Python Boot squelching down on the mission. I hate key searches. I have opened every door I can. What's left is unpickable. Tiring of going in circles, I have three places where a key is needed:
Armory
Locked cupboard
Blue door.
And sorry for the lack of spoiler tags, but I can't seem to locate the appropriate icon.

Whee! A bank heist. Just what I was in the mood for after the sombreness of WS #4.
Amazing. This whole series is just amazing.

Awesome mission. So much so that when I got lost and started to get frustrated, I kept going. Still stuck, but enjoying it.

I've done almost everything in this large and wonderful thiefly mission (who doesn't love robbing a huge mansion full of stuff?) But one objective doesn't update, and I'm not sure if it's my bad or whether, in fact it just doesn't update.
It's the quest to
place Grimmore's skull into his sarcophagus. I went into the catacombs, found the hidden stairs, looted the crypt, and put the shiny skull into the crypt along with the rest of Grimmore's bones.
The quest doesn't update. Have I used
the wrong skull? Is there another one?

Hey, thanks for the reply. In this mission, my problems were all my own! I had neglected to go to the Thieves Guild shop so I had no rope arrows.
Your missions are truly wonderful, by the way.

Wow I've been playing Thief for 20 years and yet I cannot for the life of me make some of the jumps in these missions. For some reason it just seems so difficult compared to the actual game.
I find it ruins otherwise wonderful missions (see my other post about another jump-related problem) I'm seeing balconies that would be totally reachable in Thief but for some reason I can't get to them. Jump/fall. Repeat ad nauseum till I get too frustrated to go on. I feel like I ought to be playing Tomb Raider, not Thief, with some of these jumps.
Is there a secret to jumping in The Dark Mod that I haven't learned yet? I'm hardly a noob, so this is frustrating.

This is a beautiful mission.
I'm stuck, though.
Above the bar, there is a building with red lights and pipes, which I assume I can get to. Trouble is, I can't. I've tried climbing up the round balcony to get onto the roof to get to the rope, but after about 50 tries, I've given up jumping over to the rope. The corner of the building above the rope blocks me and I end up falling without grabbing the rope, or even getting close to it. Very frustrating. Any help here would be appreciated.

I haven't finished the mission yet -- it's been holiday madness around here.
If that area isn't part of a main objective I'll just cruise along through the mission as far as I can get.
Cheers!
