  1. Email from mrD:

    Hey Pak,

I'm terribly sorry for my unannounced and unexplained disappearance, I

guess I should've known better than that, since replying to your email

would take only a couple of minutes after all! Yeah I've been busy at

work but that's not all - about hm nearly 2 months or so ago I lost

every and each piece of hardware in my computer to a (what I assume

was) a high voltage blast from the power unit. It all went literally

up in smoke dragging 120gb of data with it, not to mention... well

everything else I had! I've used my gf's freebsd box for some time,

which as you can imagine, is hardly the perfect gaming/music

workstation. In the past month I've managed to scavenge spare parts

from work (I'm a sysadmin after all) and built a "new" workstation I

now use. I'm running a debian-based linux distro on it and have been

very happy with it. Neeldess to say, as of now I can't make much

music, mainly because I can't bring myself to learning the new apps

(there's a shitload of them, all open sourced, pretty neat!). So I

guess my contribution to the TDM is through now, I can't contribute

much except maybe testing the game on a linux system (I'm able to play

D3 without hassle) and make Spar happy  :)

I'm willing to send you the source Reason files for the stuff I've

contributed so far if you want them, since I burnt those on a cd in a

moment of clarity before disaster struck. Let me know if I can help in

some way with the limited set up I now have.

I hope you can relay the info to the gang as I can't seem to remember

    my forum password.

    Have a good day!

I keep in touch with him though, and he'll probably drop by on IRC.

Saxmeister has been missing ever since he posted about his illness. Theo mailed me and said he's back working on the footsteps. So I hope to have an update there soon. As for myself, as some of you know, I've been incredibly busy with other things for the last months, but hopefully things will slow down eventually. We're more or less milestone ready anyway, so it's not that big a disaster. :)

  2. That design could work. But instead of numbers I would rather have Oddity's spikes. Numbers look to much technical for such a theme. It's ok for Doom 3, but it doesn't really fit into the TDM universe IMO.

So if you have 20 broadheads you'd like 20 small little spikes representing them? Nonono, that's insane. :)

I like that darkness_falls. Could you make one with the healthbar under the gem?

  3. That's a possibility. I don't know how difficult that would be to do using php. I know graphically making the background fade without the title doing so and keeping everything looking good would be tricky. I'm going to see how it handles the way it's already coded first. If fading can be done, it can always be added later.

That's not something you'd do with php. Flash is the right tool here.

  4. For some reason I said three and four were corrupt. I meant two and three. Three works now tho, I'll be uploading that one.

In my own defense, I wasn't actually trying to make a bell sound ;)

    Heh, okey, you're excused. :)

OK you lost me here. Reproducing realistic piano sounds is not a problem here, and doesn't apply to this case. That patch, from a Triton Extreme keyboard, plays a piano note and then plays the same note in reverse while you hold it. It may not sound like a real piano for THAT reason, but I don't think it sounds like a synth or "MIDI" piano at all.

Ah, I didn't realise the "effect" was part of the piano sound. I just figured it was something you added on top of it. Okey, saying it sounds like midi was probably a bit harsh, sorry about that. :) Still, I guess you could add real sampled piano tones on top of the psycho piano to get a "richer", less "computerish" sound and also keep that cool reverse effect.

I guess it sounds as if it ends abruptly but all of these longer pieces are meant to have space, and then more than likely coupled with an ambient hum. If you want to just use the part(s) you like from it, you can.

Hm, I think you misunderstood me here. I didn't mean the silence sounds odd (I mean, it's silence after all) but to me, it seems like the "melody" should keep going for a while longer at 0:49. You know.. dadaadadadadaaadaaaaa. You know? ;)
