Ha , beat you , already got mine!me - getting free TV license this year
Must be me and not my age cos I know you know your way around Thief by the comments made on here while I just muddle along. But I still enjoy it in my own way.I'm more an arrow in the gullet than a stealth man I'm afraid!

Ha ha , so who is the other one then! Anyway thanks , great mission.
-
Ha thanks , I'll complete it now!
As I said , loved it , I'm a bit old to still be playing Thief (75) but still love the game.
This , your map , has all the fun I hope for in Thief. As to the rope arrow , I thought I'd cycled through the weapons I had at the beginning , doh , as I say put it down to age!
P.s I'm not going mad after all!Restarted the mission from the beginning and toggled through the weapons , no rope arrow. But I'm playing on the lowest level so that must be the reason I guess. Also did find that hidden area early on but didn't look around enough.pps I'd already read it but it hasn't ticked off in the objectives.

In my own simple way ( being a very average Thief player of more than average years ) I really enjoyed this one even though some folk have been a bit picky with their comments.
Never did find the rope arrow or diary though ,( probably staring me in the face as usual! )
And I had a little trouble with the steward , had to clout him with my sword ti get him moving.
But nine out of ten from me!

Thank you , really enjoyed the mission!
My desktop would be described as ancient by most on here I expect , but I never
experienced any lag at any point.

Running Tafferpatcher didn't work.
And yes , scrolls appear as scrolls without any lettering and books after frobbing as a black page with the yellow arrow curser stuck in the middle.
I'll check out the individual folders sometime.
But not the most important thing at the moment and I did manage to complete Godbreaker without looking at the written clues.
-
Thank you will do with Tafferpatcher.I seem to remember a few instances of blank scrolls.Sometimes though s blank page with the yellow
arrow cursor I mentioned.Odd.As I said , everything else works very smoothly.
-
Just a blank black screen with edging from memory with the yellow cursor arrow on it , sometimes music too.
No writing is shown for books , scrolls , letters etc , just the above when they are frobbed.
Everything else seems to work very well.

Final word ( promise! ) on this mission as I appreciate this forum isn't the place for it , but here goes.
Throughout the mission I was unable to read any readables , i.e scrolls , books , etc.Anybody else come across this?
-
Finished.Great mission , nice city to explore.
-
Nearly finished but for a poor Thief like me I find the loot levels a tad high.Even on normal I need to find 3500 and after climbing all over the place have 2800!
Never got to the sewers , maybe there's some down there if they are reachable.Or maybe I'm missing a big hoard.I think I've covered everywhere else .It's been fun though.
-
Wow , now playing mission 4 , the City seems to go on and on.What an area to explore.
-
Hi everyone. Thank you all for your kind help.
Super mission(s).
-
Thanks for the tip gnartsch!
I'd forgotten you could do that with the old Thief.
It really is well done , I've found a lot of the key to the mission spots , it's just I'm not that observant these days and miss things! And crawling around those caves was driving me potty.
I've always known , even from the beginning of my playing Thief, that the street / castle type stealing missions were the ones I liked best. Each to their own I guess.
-
Shelved this one at least for the present as I've come up against a brick wall with finding some ancient lantern thingy which I think is behind a safe I can't open. Also finding my way around the caves are driving me crazy ,always did prefer the castle Thief settings.
Agree it's well made but enough is enough of those pesky caves!
-
Biker , after your comment I was determined to get this one up and running.
I found a great site Seleck.net that walked me through and introduced me to the T2 tool.
You are right , it is a great FM.

I should have said the old computer is on Windows 10 and I used xp compatibility mode.Haven't a clue why it wont play.Guess I would just need the original game plus the fix thingy as I did with Gold and Skacky's mission which was great btw. Loath to risk another crash too.
-
Biker , I was truly really looking forward to it!
But just wouldn't play.Don't ask me what happened but it really knackered the computer and I had to reload a lot of stuff.
Loaded Metal Age/appled patch etc and zilch.
As I say , doing it with Gold worked an absolute dream.Oh well.
-
Godbreaker and Darkwalls consigned to the bin , wouldn't play after applying all fixes and in addition crashed my ancient desktoo computer, grrrrr.Never again!
Thief Gold and the fixed worked fine though
-
Finished it , good fun.Thank you Skacky.
-
Thank you yet again Melan!
Regarding the other place I found I'll have to have a search around to try to get in there too.

Don't know whether it's relevant to finding the necklace but
I've found a cell with a hammer guarding it with skulls on a shelf. But no key and lock picks don't help.
Can some kind person give me a hint. thanks!
-
Reading through this thread in a last desperate attempt to find hints to finish the mission I see I've been to said key point (can't seem to do spoilers on this tablet) where , according to Melan 'the fun begins ',and didn't find anything there so must look again.
-
Easier to set up than I thought it would be in the end thanks to TXfix.
Never did find Beric's necklace , spent all my time falling off walls!I always liked the good old rope arrow but in more moderation. In the end I was craving for a good old door lock to pick!

Any chance of a clue as to where to find a weapon ( if only to vent my frustration on the guards!)
