  1. You have a guy who's given countless hours of his time over many years, and the thanks he gets is a ban?

No, I'm pretty sure the thanks he got for his countless hours were near universal praise from the membership for his work, and constant helpful attitude.

I've been watching, also. Some heavy-handed adjustments to older missions for bugfixing. Some wanton use of templates. Really? That justifies exile of an important content creator? Of an industrious workhorse? For real?

If you've really "been watching" you'll know the things he's being punished for. "Heavy handed adjustment for bug fixing" = remodeling significant parts of a map that weren't considered buggy? Or even altering a map that permission wasn't given for and inventing entirely in his own head that permission was even given? "Really?"? How heavy this hand must be!

"Wanton use of templates" is the same as copying whole-cloth from other missions and doubling-down when confronted on it? "For real?"? I don't think you've been watching all that closely at all. That or you think everyone else is a liar?

  2. .. even if we make up clear rules, you can't really hinder anyone from breaking them.

No, but you can censure their asses to the ground, and have an easily linkable and justified reason for doing so. It's sorta almost the same thing with a law IRL. Making a law that says murder is illegal doesn't stop people killing each other. It does give you a pretty solid justification for locking the murderer up for x years, because there's a law against murder, and they broke it.

  3. As far as I can see/am concerned, the issue is when the situation appears to be like this:

Regardless of intention, it looks like plagiarism. During my studies I was warned repeatedly against plagiarism, and one fellow student in the second year was facing a possible expulsion level disciplinary action because he'd forgotten to correctly cite a significant portion of one area of his work. Plagiarism is not a joke, avoid the hassle and either cite, or do your own work. That way forgetting something doesn't lead to this mess, where people are discussing whether or not someone who's been here from the very start should get the boot.

  4. Plagiarism

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence.

  5. The first two chapters are supposed to be getting a rework in time for the chapter 3 release based on the feedback they got on them (they are too hand-holdy and fetch-questy currently), but they do function as Springheel noted, as an extended tutorial. I got the game back when it first went early access on Steam, only had survival mode, and had 1 map for it. I think it took me 6 or 7 tries to live longer than a single day. Still playing it all these years later, 530+ hours, and don't regret the purchase. Amazing game, story *hopefully* gets better, but survival sandbox right now is where it's at. Can't really compare it to anything I've played so far, except *maybe* Don't Starve.

edit: Looks like the sale has ended, bad luck to anyone who missed out.

  6. When they're alone. But what happens when they get a bunch of other awkward losers who agree with them, and they whip themselves into a frenzy and start trying to get the political power to become a real politician, and start coverify each other's backs so they can break the law to harass minorities whole hiding their actions from the Feds? What happens when they start never using condoms so they can have massive families, and teach their children to be like them, swelling the numbers of their racist group faster than non-racists? Shouldn't someone in the government step in and publicly denounce not only their views, but the members of said hate group themselves, to shame them and their family into, if not changing their ways, keeping their yaps shut?

This is some prime StormfrontOrSJW material right here.

  7. Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. - C.S. Lewis
