  1. Pinnacle scared me away, cause it wants payment. I know, it´s very good and have the walk/run-feature for the analog-sticks. Actually I´m using JoyToKey, that is very simple. I tried much some time ago and really Pinnacle was the best, maybe I look into it again, don´t remember the prize...

  2. I just tried Sons of Baltona Part 1 and as the guards saw me I instantly run away, but as getting to the starting area they catched and killed me while running. This is because:

    I changed 'pm_walkspeed' to '60' (default=70). But this breaks the runspeed too, because TDM uses a modifier. Default is '2.12'. I raised it to '2.3' but I´m just guessing.

     

    I´m sure someone (Mortem?) knows a way or a value that helps me to regain the original running speed. Maybe a value that I have to multiply with the default´s to always get the right running speed?

     

    I never tried to outrun guards before, but the player should be able to, right? Guards carry a lot more weight and otherwise it would be too much trail&error.

    Bin jetzt fertig und es hat sich nix geändert, gute Arbeit. Aber ein, zwei Fehler fand ich jetzt doch noch: (Tagebuch des Hausherrn) einmal ein 'sind' zuviel und 'Schneiderinnen' hätte ich erst nach dem 'r' getrennt.

    Mit der Bezeichnung 'Baumeister' bin ich nicht zufrieden. 'Erbauer' hört sich besser an, meiner Meinung nach.

     

    Wie ist jetzt überhaupt die Resonanz? Kannst Du rauskriegen wie oft die deutsche Version überhaupt runtergeladen wurde? Wollen die Leute deutsche Versionen? Ich würde auch beim Übersetzen helfen...

Due to my GamePad-use this is really a problem (I´m not playing from a desk, and my keyboard is at the moment on my legs, but while playing this is really uncomfortable so I place it in a vertical line left of me and in almost complete darkness it was really hard for me to find the water arrow last night...) for me so I´ll at least try...

    Ähem, I guess I should copy the content of the .patch-file into DarkMod/Inventory/Category.cpp? I haven´t done anything yet. And if so, what then? For now I´ve created a folder for the content of the code in the DarkMod-folder. I know, this won´t do anything.

     

    Are you willing to help me out, Mortem? All I know about C++ is that it is all text (not 0´s and 1´s) and with // you can add comments. :rolleyes:

     

    If it is a long way so I´ll be patient but if it will be a few steps I would really like to (let you do me) do it. ^_^

     

    edit: I just looked into a tutorial for C++ and it is really not my world. They say it is really easy, but I don´t even know C.

     

    So if this will cost me more than one day than I´ll step back to be patient. I could try to play without the use of weapons...

  5. Heute Nacht hab´ich weitergemacht und ich muss sagen dass die ingame-Texte alle super waren! Nur 'Gatte' gefiel mir nicht, da hätte ich lieber 'Gemahl' gesehen. Aber sonst ist mir nicht eine Sache negativ aufgefallen, gute Arbeit! :thumbup: Der Text der trinkfreudigen Wache gefiel mir besonders.

     

    Allerdings habe ich nicht zu Ende gespielt, als ich ins Zimmer des Hausherrn kam war ich so müde, dass ich mich quasi in sein Bett gelegt habe. Aber so weit ich mich erinnere kommt nicht mehr viel zu lesen.

     

    Aber trotzdem: Fortsetzung folgt...

  6. @ Premier: most of the things you pointed at were found during the Betatesting but couldn´t be solved. But I´m sure that there will be a future version with even maybe improvements in performance, but this will only make sense on future DarkMod versions, I guess.

     

    As for the loot in the yard, I don´t remember anything there.

    But if it´s a note you´re relating to, you should have a look at the rafters in the Dining room...

     

     

    Note to myself: I can´t believe that I still haven´t played this gem since the Beta. It was so much fun and for sure the best I played so far. The forest in mission 3 was so beautiful...

  7. It seems wrong to quickload and spoil these little emergent moments. cool.gif

     

    I completely agree with you. But sadly I suffer from the 'love to push the quickload-button'-disease. But I´ll try to see it more as a game and not as an alternate Life where failure is not an option on future attempts. I know there is put a lot of work into AI´s but as I experienced guards loosing sounds after seeing me, this spoiled a much of immersion for me, sadly... :( And it seems no one knows what causes this.

  8. I played this mission a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to tell that I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very good. I remember too the blocking AI´s by the double-door in the middle of the first floor, if I remember right. And they didn´t unstuck as I came back 20 minutes or so later.

     

    But I really liked it and will play it again soon to train my stealth skills.

     

    As I read the first posts I was wondering how one can get a stealth score of 8 by killing everyone? (I always get zero) At least on dying the AI should know that there is someone.

  9. I experienced a slowdown by the lockpicking room in the Training Mission as I run it at full (16Q)-AA on my Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT. (I like the name of my card :) ) But now I reduced the AA to 4 and I have 60fps, so no slowdown anymore. As I remember I didn´t had slowdowns in the forest. (I did not play it since betatesting it though) And I have to say that the AA isn´t worse on 4 than on 16.

    And I´m really looking forward for the mission to come out. Because of Komag´s comment you know that there is nothing else now but to complete and release this gem, don´t you?

  11. @ ungoliant: There is a lot, really a lot in your list that fits me perfectly. Only Rammstein and the solo stuff (aside from his work with NiN) from Chris Vrenna is missing. Oh and some things from The Cure. (to make it my list)

    But I have to say that in the last eleven years there was only one artist/band I consistent listened to until now. And that is Marilyn Manson. Especially the last two albums. (though these were the most un-successful) I can tell that Manson does exactly do the music I really love. Don´t know what it is, but nothing else seems to fit me...(I really love his voice, though his live performances ATM are worst ever, sadly)

  12. I feel exactly like Diego. That´s why I thought in the past of a (optional) limitation for saving or loading during the mission.

    But last night, as I replayed DarkMod after almost two months, I found myself sitting out situations rather than reload and it was fun. (I always avoided this in the past because of the disappearing footsteps-bug after AI´s saw me)

     

    I never played Daggerfall but from how you describe it TDM seems to be the next step from this system...

     

    The sword/fighting-system in TDM I can´t praise often enough! Really, the difficult-option is working quite well! As I played with the Medium-skill I very often could kill guards with three slashes without hurting myself and now, as I play with the expert-skill it feels damn good. The sword should be a last resort and because of that the actual system is so damn good, because you never feel sure enough to take every guard that crosses your way, I´m very happy with the system! :)

     

    As for the need of a sword: Well as I said, it´s a kind of insurance policy. And it can add greatly to the atmosphere if just seen on the screen. :ph34r: In Thief 1 I always took it out in Cathedral-like missions as I sneaked around, I just felt more secure with it. And I liked to backstab Haunts. And I loved the BlackSword. (especially after the patch from NamelessVoice and some other with an optional new skin for the sword - I very often pushed the Block-key to just look at the sword, this is sth I do still in TDM, I very like to just watch swords)

     

    So, the sword is important for me, though I really use it very sparingly. Because of this I would like too more situations there you have to use it to get through sth and so on.

     

    Ok, I´m drifting away, but look at this shot:

    This areas are for me the places the sword was made for. Just to see I have drawn the sword gives me the creeps. In a positive way. (hey, I never used this phrase before)

  13. When I quickly glanced at the thread list here in Off-Topic, I thought I had read "Aidakeeley's Mushrooms". While an unhealthy relationship with 'shroomz would explain a lot of his/her occasionally rather... strange behaviour,

     

    Äh, did I miss sth.? And what about this flames-stuff? Sth to do wiht getting much hits? And yes, the topic name sounded interesting that is why I´m here. :rolleyes: And another question: 'astonishing reputation of -29' :D Hah, it´s true! Just checked. How did you do this, Aida? And are you female? I already have a girlfriend, so my mind can stand it! B)

     

    And @ Mortem: You can´t hide your relation to this little sect known as Christians. ;)
