  1. I don´t understand why DarkMod is copying the missions in the Doom3-folder and not instead moving them! And if a mission got uninstalled the mission is still in the Doom3-folder!

     

    As the number of FM´s grow, so does the size on my Harddisk in double!

     

    Example: As I was now betatesting GC´s new Campaign I got all together 800 MB for the three missions. The missions itself in the DarkMod-folder count 200 MB! This all is copied to the Doom3-folder and then 2 Savegames (a 86 MB or so) added. So all in all I had 800 MB for three missions!

     

    But I can delete the missions in the Doom3-folder myself without causing trouble, right? I mean I want to save the save-games, but that is not necessary. What about DarkMod doing this itself?

     

    I just wanted you guys to know but I´m sure you´re already aware of this HardDisk-eating method.;)

  2. While I´m still waiting for my TTLG Forum access so I´m asking this here:

     

    I tried the new Thief2skies-patch and looked at the Thief2-mission 'Life of the Party'. You know, the big rooftops-mission where you get to the Mecha-tower. Angelwatch, I always liked that name a lot. Ok, it seems there was in the original mission a fog-bug, means fog disappearing from the starting point. I saw some pop-up effects in the distance while walking away. But there is a fix (an old one) and one can fix this in the ddfix.ini (required for Thief2skies). So I tried both methods but it seems so wrong ´cause the fog/sky is so bright. I´ll add a screenshot that you see what I mean. Later in the level, as I deactivated the fog-fix it looked better, but the sky was still so bright. And with the fix there is fog even inside the buildings because the fix makes the fog to be everywhere.

    What I wanted to ask: I think in the original it was no bug. I think they wanted to start the mission early in the evening, and when you get on it get´s darker! But for the sky it´s not working, it is always so damn bright. Only if I deactivate the fog it looks right, look at the third screenshot.

    And this bright fog, is it meant to simulate industrial smog? What do you think?

  3. Another strange thing I noticed was that the headless guard started grunting and groaning like I was attacking him, however I never went near the guy.

     

    Maybe demagogue has put some kind of strange invisible monster in this mission? Who knows...

    But there wasn´t blood spilling out of the guard, or was it?

  4. I was thinking about it and I came to think about SystemShock. There was a really cool thing called "System Shock rebooted" in the making with the Doom3-engine but was shut/shot down due to legal issues. Very sad. I could only found one mod in the making and that is a remake of System Shock 1 for System Shock 2. This way there will be no legal issues and the screenshots looked very good but this is now really off-topic.

    I just wanted to say that I would like a SystemShock-mod more than DeusEx, but then again, something of both...

    I played the mission too on TDM1.01 and all was fine but the loud ambiance. I suggest just restarting the mission and hope this never happens again! ;)

     

     

    As for Crattick: It was a very good idea to make him come from behind. This way you have a real fight and not just sneaking up behind him, one sword slash and that´s it. No you gonna get hurt and get your pack of adrenaline rush! cool.gif It was very cool for me ´cause I killed him on the first try. Sad, I wasn´t able to hear his footsteps. (Maybe I was too distracted by the female body... rolleyes.gif ) If I would´ve heard him it would have felt more like he sneaked up on me and spied on me. Have to replay this myself, never had Harlan rescued...

     

  6. If you let the file active and the program running while you´re online it is always uploading. How much the upload speed will be is up to you.

    On torrents you have sometimes very fast and very slow connections. Depends on the speed of the other uploaders. Maybe at evenings the speed is better. How many Seeders and Peers do you have to choose from? (The program chooses the best itself)

     

    But you should try the updater as well in the future. Has to work. As I used the update it was very slow though.

  7. Yes, Dark Metal.

     

    I heard first of it when I installed 'GarrettLoader', the newer replacement for the Darkloader FM-installer. This thing even supports the DarkMod itself. And it tells me about Dark Metal to be a heavy Mod for Thief 2, but nothing more. As I googled it, there was only a thread on TTLG (dated in 2005) that leads me to the (great) Enhancement Pack by NamelessVoice.

    In google I saw the description for it: a DromEd-mod that enables Thief 1 FMs to be played in Thief 2 or something. Can´t find it anymore, but there wasn´t something useful behind the google-link.

    So I wondered if someone here does know more about it?

     

    As I played a couple of weeks ago after a long time Thief 2 with all the great fan-made updates that are around I often thought that it would be so cool to play the whole Thief 1 in Thief 2! The looks and lighting would be so improved! And this new Skypatch for Thief 2. And what I 'heard' about 'Dark Metal' seems to be exactly what I dreamed about. But I can´t find it. But if the GarrettLoader supports it, so I assume it is out there and ready?

     

     

    BTW: I´m still waiting for my Activation at TTLG-forums. It´s two months now or even three. Don´t know whats wrong. I tried two times before one year ago. Nothing happened too. But last year I saw Activation-mails, but they arrived half a year later as I don´t used my old Email-account and then I tried them they were outdated. Why does it take so long? Someone here who knows?

  8. Hell, sorry! I forgot to comment this mission, it was the second DarkMod mission I played and I was greatly entertained! After getting into the kitchen I instantly got the good old THIEF-feeling! :ph34r:

     

    The optics looked very nice and I enjoyed the readables though I never can have enough. I can´t remember nothing I didn´t liked. Ok, it was very short, but for a one week mission there was nothing to complain. :)

    I have a solution for disappearing music after reloading: just tipping the ambient-slider in the menu brings the music back!

     

    And for the footsteps: be a ghost!

     

    But I´m still waiting if others have tested 'Penitence' with my method... :(

  10. I have a damn good soundcard with latest drivers! (Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer) But I think too it is a problem of pre-1.01-missions or the sound design itself. I´ve not played the newest missions yet so I can´t tell about them right now...
