  1. Well, that's interesting. So the fundamentals of automap already exist, but most mappers choose not to use it. That's a personal choice. Too bad. I guess it doesn't really affect the story telling or the pacing so it's ignored as unnecessary.

  2. Suggestion - Improving the Map

    If a fan mission has a map, it would be nice if the map wasn't a generalized after-thought, but a more detailed and real-time map showing where you are when you open it.

    I know this is asking a lot, and it would probably take a huge chunk of programming time, but it would be nice to know where you are along your travels. Of course, this takes away some of the mystery and suspense of investigating unknown territory, but it doesn't have to be there, just in some circumstances. 

    I can't do without GPS in my vehicle, especially when I'm in a different city. I think this reflects on my suggestion.

  3. In the flooded sewers, there is a hidden entrance that leads to nothing in particular. There is no loot in there that I could find, and no objective referring to it. Just a bunch of guys (thieves) hanging around. Is there a new objective I have to find that relates to this "isolated" room ?

  4. Thanks Snatcher for identifying the problem. However, I could only find the mission at Taffersparadise. Originally, I couldn't find it (and the sequel) through the built-in downloader, but that seemed suspicious so I went back (after reading your message) and found both under the author's Title Selis Woderose.

    I installed both successfully.

  5. One of the best missions, and I've played it 3 times. But I just discovered that there is a memento to Rowena but no mention of it anywhere in this thread except for one message acknowledging it. I found it via "noclip" but  can't find how to gain access. Looking for a lever or a button or some kind of trigger. Can't get in and once in through "noclip", can't get out.

  6. Binding a key solves the "scroll forever" problem in that you can quickly bring up the Stats once you've finished whatever it is you're doing (ex picking locks). The Compass already has a keybind , BUT it shows up in the "inventory slot" which means it keeps disappearing when you need to access some other item. 

    Back to the Lantern. It's part of the inventory, BUT it doesn't show up in the scroll list, (or inventory slot or whatever the list in the bottom right hand corner is called) which is the way it should be. You turn on the Lantern and it remains on until you turn it off. Meanwhile, the scroll list isn't affected. Why can't that work with the Compass or the Stats.

    Maybe that's a "Hud" issue which probably means the fix is too involved or difficult to bother with. Still.....it would be nice not to have to constantly toggle these things every 5 mins. Remember, when you're picking a particularly difficult lock, it's nice to be able to glance at the stats to see if you're raising suspicions.

  7. Suggestion - Visualizing The Stats / Compass

    It would be nice if the stats could be set apart from the other list items so that you don't have to scroll through multiple (sometimes many many multiple😒) items before you arrive at the Stats Listing. Like Toggling the Lantern, it would simply turn on/off without occupying a spot at the bottom right as a "list item" in an ever increasing list of things to scroll through. Same with the Compass. When you toggle it on, it takes over a spot in the bottom right listing.

    In other words, I would like the Stats and Compass to always be visible. For example, if I come to a door that needs to be picked open, once I choose the lockpick or key, I lose the Stats and have to scroll through to find them when I'm finished. At least the compass has a special key stroke so I don't have to scroll.

    Maybe a "keyboard key" that toggles the Stats and places it elsewhere (bottom left of the screen ?) so that it doesn't interfere with the list items at the bottom right. Ditto Compass. These 2 things should be treated like the Lantern.

    For me, I would love to be able to pick a lock and check the stats at the same time, as well as always knowing my orientation north. 

    I hope this makes sense. And I'm not optimistic that it would be an easy fix. Just throwing it out there as a suggestion, if it hasn't already been discussed.

  8. So v3.4 has all the stuff from v3.2 & v3.3 Once I install v3.4 and activate it, I don't need the others and can delete them. OR, I can simply inactivate them but keep them, while activating v3.4 to give it a trial run.

    If, for whatever reason, I want to inactivate v3.4 and return to any of the earlier versions, it's a simple matter of swapping.

    That's how I'm understanding this.

  9. I'm currently using Modpack v3.2

    Can I skip v3.3 and activate v3.4 which may give me the v3.3 upgrade as well or do I have to activate v3.3 as well. Or, to put it another way, if I activate v3.4 , are the v3.3 upgrades included.

    Using my "Generic Mod Enabler (v2.6.0.157), I know I can activate/inactivate the upgrades at will , but I wanted to make sure that hasn't changed.

    I'm assuming the limitations regards "savegames" still applies.

  11. Yes, I realized that after a bit of time. 3rd spider now dead.

    This mission was very inventive. I was  looking all over for a rope arrow considering all those wood beams and frobbable windows and it ends up you really don't need one (I did find it eventually). What you did need though was a spyglass and a lantern.

    Then moving Gilbert to his destination was tricky.

    Loved the mission.

    The mine was a dud....the spider walked over it without detonation. I even jumped up and down on it with nothing happening. I've never used a mine before. Do you have to "trigger" it on after you placed it ? Any other ideas on how to kill it ?

  14. Spiders In Basement

    Is there any way to kill the 3 spiders without alerting them ? Are there 3 different ways, one for each ?

    I killed one successfully by lighting it with fire.

    The trap door was an obvious method, but the red spider was always alerted before he fell in, probably through the noise I made using the arrow to push the release button from a distance. Also, it seems the red spider cannot be killed via fire the way the other was. I had to use "Whistle" in order to lure it into position, but the fire didn't affect it.

    I actually managed to kill the red spider after I posted this,

    by positioning myself as close to the button as possible without alerting him and pressing it manually. I was shaded enough that he wasn't alerted :)

    The last spider just didn't seem to be around anything that would kill it. Arrows didn't work ( I only had 1)

    I thought there might be something I'm not seeing or missing to accomplish this objective without alerting them.

  15. What is an Escape Room ?

    Is it like a panic room or a weather room or a bomb shelter. Some place to go to be safe?

    You must live in the countryside on acreage. I can't imagine an escape room being a part of a 3 bedroom apartment in the city.

    Or maybe it's just a metaphorical term for some room that you isolate as a place to gather your thoughts without external influence.

    Just curious.

    BTW, I had the same issue you have. I had to noclip to continue through this part. I don't know if it's related, but a different mission (Now And Then) had a piece of loot that would NOT highlight for me, making it impossible to frob. When I replayed the mission, it highlighted fine. It may be too much to ask that you restart to check as it's quite a ways into the story IIRC

  16. I think your fan missions are excellent. But they are less for newcomers to DarkMod and more for veteran players who like the challenge(s). Some of your loot placement is phenomenally difficult to see or find. Same with the secrets. I don't think I completed ONE of your missions without help. Even though I groaned a couple of times, it was still a blast to play and enjoy.

  17. It's strange. The default "noclip" is super fast. Now that could be because I have "always run" enabled. But I CAN slow it down when in noclip by pressing "Shift" & "w".

    This doesn't work for crawl. "Ctrl" & "w" shows no change.

    I know I can set the noclip speed manually, but I have to do it each time I want to use it. Kinda annoying.

    EDIT

    That was it. Disabling "always run" allows me to engage all 3 speed modes when in noclip.

  18. Loot/Stealth Presentation

    I haven't looked through this thread, so I hope I'm not chatting about something that has already been discussed.

    I just installed Version 2.11 and along with it the TDM Modpack.

    One of the things I've grown addicted to is having the enhanced "running tally" of loot in the bottom right of the screen (tdm_loot_stealth_stats.pk4). This disappears when the Modpack is enabled. Instead, I get the classic presentation of loot via the F3 key. The thing that I really miss is the total amount of loot available in the mission. The stealth stats are for ghosting, which I also use.

    I would love to spend more time using the Modpack, but not knowing how much loot there is in total makes the choice difficult. Unless I can keep   "tdm_loot_stealth_stats.pk4" enabled somehow. Is this a possibility ?

My Version 2.10 had an adjustment I installed that changed a display located at the bottom right of the screen from just itemizing Loot to a list of other information that I thought was helpful. But I can't find the file or executable that made the change. I would like to add that to my Version 2.11.

    I noticed a Modpack by Snatcher's Workshop that had something similar  but it wasn't the same.
