  1. I'm on Linux, so that .exe is unfortunately not something I can easily run. Some admin tool?
  2. After several months of hard (although very enjoyable) work, I’m proud to announce the release of my first FM - “Cole Hurst 1: Eaton”. Mission description In the northern town of Eaton, Lord Mayor Zelmer is hosting a lavish party at his luxurious estate to celebrate Eaton's establishment... The city's elite, a famous musician and even the Queen will be partaking in tonight's festivities. Screenshots Download “Cole Hurst 1: Eaton” should already be available for download in the game, but you can also grab a copy of version 1.0 from here. To install this copy, simply place the downloaded file named “ch1_eaton.pk4” in your “[the dark mod]/fms/” folder. Notes I would say this FM could primarily be considered a “traditional mansion heist” mission. These were by far my favorite type of Thief 1/2 levels which I have very fond memories of playing through as a child. I suppose this is my humble attempt to create something vaguely similar... I have tried my best to make the story, the readables and the conversations as interesting as I could and so I really do hope that some of you will find it enjoyable. The mission features: I already have some relatively concrete ideas for a follow-on mission in mind, so hopefully I will have time to continue my mapping efforts soon(ish) :) Contributions I have been overwhelmed by the amount of people interested in helping me with this mission. A huge thanks to each and every one of you! Story Kelly Hrupa Voice actors: twhalen2600 (AKA @Benny_the_guard) Kelly Hrupa Testers: @Acolytesix- brisk puzzle solver @duzenko - the man with the admin tools @JackFarmer - objective wrangler @Shadow - a certified spider-monkey who refuse to stay caged @Cambridge Spy - an eagle-eyed book-worm @wesp5 - eager candle-snuffer @madtaffer – readability advisor @prjames - spider assassin @suzy8track – book magician @datiswous – destroyer of crates I would also like to say a special thanks to @Dragofer who has been very helpful with debugging and general advice in cases where I had absolutely no idea what to do. @duzenko has also been very responsive to any game-related bugs that I’ve encountered during the beta phase and also thanks to @nbohr1more for handling this release for me. As I am completely new to mapping in general, I also found @Springheel‘s wonderful TDM New Mappers Workshop extremely helpful when I was first getting started, so thank you very much for creating it. Known bugs/issues While this mission has spent quite some time in beta testing, I’m sure that some of you will discover shortcomings that my wonderful beta testers and I have overlooked. In that case, please do get in touch and I will make sure to address it (to the best of my abilities) in a future update. There are unfortunately also a few (primarily cosmetic) things that I have been unable to solve – at least for this release: The small church model used in Gatwick square has low-resolution textures applied Some picture frames do not match the original frame after being stolen Strange looking shadows on the greenhouses in the garden Visible vertical lines on some interior walls Various gaps/holes in some of the models that I have chosen to use The female mansion lobby guard occasionally sound like a dude
  3. @duzenko Sounds great. Let me know if I can help test something out. I haven't tried "svn" builds of TDM before, but I'm sure I'd be able to figure it out.
  4. @duzenko I suppose so yes. Although in version 2.09b, the mirror is present but causes visual glitches on the silver serving trays on the table when the mirror and the serving trays are in view at the same time.
  5. @duzenko It is encircled in red the top-right of this screenshot: Room is at: 5789.9 -1601.58 82.72 20.2 43.0 0.0
  6. I just tried deleting all the entities with shading issues in the room being discussed on version dev16390-9648 (map version 0.9 - link above) and this seems to have no effect on the mirror. The mirror texture was still black weather the serving platters were present in the sealed room or not.
  7. The view coordinates are: 5789.9 -1601.58 82.72 20.2 43.0 0.0 And here is a link to version 0.9: https://bwyan.dk/wp-content/uploads/ch1_eaton.pk4-0.9 Please note that I have manually renamed "ch1_eaton.pk4" to "ch1_eaton.pk4-0.9", so that it wouldn't conflict with my current beta version. If you need additional testing help - do let me know!
  8. @Dragofer I have removed the mirrors from the rooms in my mission where they are causing this issue. In case you need further assistance I've got a backup copy. Just for reference, it is version 0.9.
  9. Perhaps I should also mention that I'm using the Linux version of the game - just in case that turns out to be relevant.
  10. @Dragofer In dev16215-9224, the mirror texture is working as intended and the shading issue is present on the serving platters: In dev16225-9284, the mirror texture is no longer working and (curiously) the shading issue is still present: I hope this is helpful to you. Let me know if I can provide any other information that might be useful.
  11. @Dragofer I don't see rev 9232 on this list. Do I need to get a hold of that version in some other way besides using the installer? Just FYI, I tested using dev16390-9648.
  12. Hello, I just tested my mission using the most recent development build and in this case the problem is not present, but the reflective mirror texture that I am using is also entirely gone/missing (all mirrors appear completely black). I'm not sure what conclusion to draw from this... Does the "textures/common/mirror" texture behave differently in 2.10 or should I perhaps use an entirely different texture to be 2.10 compatible?
  13. If anyone is aware of how to create the skin that Dragofer mentions above, then please do let me know
  14. @Dragofer Thanks for your feedback. I thought I should also mention that there is one other instance where this also seems to be to be the case. In this example, I have a door frame with a glass awning on top (model name "models/darkmod/architecture/modules/interior_mansion01/mansion01_door02.lwo"): I managed to solve this in my mission by inserting a black texture just behind the glass part, so for me this is not an issue - but perhaps others might stumble into this same problem.
  15. Apologies. I just realized that this is perhaps not the correct forum for this kind of post. Please feel free to remove it. I will ask the same question over on "DarkRadiant Feedback and Development" instead.
  16. Hello all, I am in the final stages of beta testing my FM "Cole Hurst 1: Eaton" and I've been pointed to a (possible) game bug that causes some objects to shine in an unusual way. As seen in the screenshot below, in rooms with proper reflective mirrors, if the player has both the mirror and (in this particular case) these silverware serving platters in view, they start to glow in a very odd way: Does anyone know if this is perhaps a known game bug? I've tested TDM 2.09a and 2.09b and this issue is present in both those cases. I suppose it could also be something to do with my map in particular (perhaps those silverware platters needs some special spawnarg?), but I'm not entirely sure.
  17. @Acolytesix, @JackFarmer: The FM is now available for testing over on the "TDM Mission Beta Testing" forum.
  18. Thank you very much. I will make it available soon...
  19. Great! I will ping you as soon as it's available. I'm currently doing some changes based on the feedback I've received so far...
  20. I have updated the screenshots to better reflect the perceived lighting while playing the game. I will consider what can be further improved based on Dragofer and demagogue's suggestions...
  21. Thanks demagogue, I do have some of that going on in the other smaller rooms and hallways that the mansion consists of (also the city streets), but I suppose I really need to think of some changes for the few larger rooms that I currently have. Thanks for the feedback!
  22. Hello Dragofer and thank you for the warm welcome. I will definitely look into the resources you mentioned regarding voice acting options - thanks for those. In hindsight, I suppose that I should have scaled down some of my larger open areas (the screenshots I posted are primarily from those), but it would be quite challenging for me to redo those rooms - at least in a way where I can effectively make use of more visportals to allow for more lighting. Regardless, I will consider what I can manage without ruining the current layout. Thanks for your comments
  23. UPDATE: Beta testing is now open to anyone interested. --- Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and also to mapping in general. I've spent about 3-4 months learning DarkRadiant and creating a new FM for TDM. Now, I could use some help running the map through it's paces. Mission description: In the northern town of Eaton, Lord Mayor Zelmer is hosting a lavish party at his luxurious estate... Most of Eaton's elite, the Queen and a famous musician will all be partaking in tonight's festivities. I plan on making the map available for testing over on the "TDM Mission Beta Testing" forum as soon as I (hopefully, fingers crossed) have received a couple of replies I've tried my best to make the mission as interesting as possible, but I fear that I may have made the plot a little too convoluted - hopefully not though. During the Beta-phase, I am also hoping to recruit one or two voice actors, but I'm not quite sure if I ought to look into this separately. Any advice on this would also be greatly appreciated. Generally speaking, all the important voice acting is already present, but I would love to replace one poorly acted scene and also to have some non-essential dialogue recorded by someone other than me and my partner (and preferably by a native English speaker). Thank you for your interest and thanks in advance to anyone interested in beta testing. I promise to be as receptive as possible to any feedback I receive.
  24. I am a newcomer in this community, but I just wanted to pay my respects. Grayman is largely responsible for my own forthcomming venture into creating mission for TDM and I am a big admirer of his work.
