    We... well I already have a musician but it's never a bad thing to have two, so welcome in the team! ;)

     

    Here comes the absolute truth:

     

    The Sly Project progresses really slowly. Why? Because almost everything is in place but I don't have any capable people to do their "jobs". I had 3-4 mappers but after a while they left me, because Real Life™ troubles. They are all nice guys but this kind of attitude destroys everything. Some of them said they are working hard, and after a couple of months they vanished. That's why I cannot show the community any touchable materials.

     

    Nowadays the situation is a little bit better. It seems I'll have a quality mapper if I can convince him to join. 2 musicians/sound designers, 1 modeler and 1 graphical artist. I also have my new HD camera. Just need to find the right places to record the cutscenes.

     

    This is a 5 missions long campaign. We need at least 3 more level designers to progress satisfactorily. If there is a good mapper out there, who wants to build a mission for a full campaign and not "just" a single mission, here is the chance!

    I was going to do a quick demo of the lead-in/looping thing, but it looks like you've already got the looping sorted for the latest tracks.

     

    I don't think you should have to upload identical ogg/mp3 versions though; admittedly it's been a very long time since I published anything on SoundCloud, but if you upload as .flac won't it generate ogg and mp3 versions for you?

     

    Yeah I thought it would be best.

     

    hm.. I have no idea :S I'll check it out.

    <br><br>How do I export as Flac.? Don't have any program for that :S<br>

    copy and pasting it work, but you should know posting url directly in forums threads never work, so just type your name and then highlight it and then paste the link into it etc..

    I like your music. I personally think it fits very good into TDM - I like the beginning of "Try Again Tomorrow" - "Fate Decided Feat. Fra" would be nice for a sad short movie sequence! Ans "Platform Ride Under suspicion Version" sounds like that you (The thief) just found out that he got betrayed in his whole life!

     

    I like your stuff... in all of them I here a story ;)

     

     

     

    Nice to hear you enjoy the other songs aswell =)

     

    Could make something similar for movie clips, that would be nice too :D

    Yeah I like epic and sad sound, it's easy to enjoy, especially when creating it.

    OrbWeaver - I definitely see what you mean.

     

    I can change it so that it's cut-off instead, making it easier to loop.

    For the length I could probably size it down, although personally I think it might take out some of the edge in the variation. Might get a bit boring listening to the same sound over and over. Of course, it's ambience, it should be easy to listen to =)

     

    I can create another smaller version for the purpose?

     

    By the way, new song uploaded. Acolyte of the City, made it today. More of an open sound in it.

    It works for me. You have to go through the usual "find the non-premium link, enter the captcha and wait 30 seconds" thing like with most file-sharing sites though. I guess it might fail if you have Javascript turned off.

     

    DarkDisguise, have you considered using a music-centered sharing site like SoundCloud? I think you get 2 hours of music for the free account.

    Excellent! Simple, but just right.

    I look forward to hearing your tracks played in future FMs. How about making the next one able to be looped without fading out at the end?

    You should be able to mask out portions of the environment map using the maskcolor and maskalpha keywords but don't take my word as gospel.

    I made a thread named "Need a musician?" over at the I want to help section, so I thought I'd check out the given submission thread :)

     

    Made one song today, short one, 2:55, inspired by Thief (duh), and hopefully something to enjoy.

    I see your point. Being an artist has it's inspiration that won't fit the same expectations people are after, not all the time atleast.

    It's hard to compare it to any other esthetic genre, but it's the building sensation of climax, like trying to halt a train on it's way into the station.

    You really want to reach the goal, but you know that if it does, it'll still be something entirely different.

    Of course, I'm not refering ambient to a pointless destination, but it is endless.

    If you want good ambience, it has to be sufficient, but also satisfying in itself.

    It's a hard line to walk.

    Still, what would a game be without the music? And vice versa.

    Note that I like music in many forms, still, it's always a fun challange to create ambience, since it's both hard, but also very inspiring.

    I've recently uploaded an ambient song called "Night Walker", and I think it's still in the process, but it'll come forth shortly.

    Don't take this as "official", but I don't think we are looking to add more ambient music to the core mod (it's big enough already). However, I am sure there is no shortage of individual mappers who would benefit from using custom music in their campaigns. My advice would be to post examples of your work and take requests from mappers when they have a need.

    For the basic mood covering. Music and audio, depends on what needs to be improved since it's already released =)

    I haven't played it yet, but I was just up over my shoulders inspired. If there's a game worthy of remaking, it's the thief series.
