  1. I’m not going to dispute he has a way with words, but he’s fallen into a repetitive trap with them. His reviews are becoming horribly predictable, involving the same puns and esoteric movie/pop-culture references, and if he likes the game he’ll only briefly mention that in one line. After so many times bashing the same videogame design philosophies, it really starts to become a ‘no shit, Sherlock’ affair when watching his spiels, and I find myself barely listening to his ranting and having more interest spotting his cultural & media namedrops. He’s essentially turning into Family Guy.

  2. The combat is manageable, but isn't really exciting, and tends to get derivative after awhile. Essentially you click on what kind of attack, ability or item you want to use and wait until the enemy dies. There isn't an extreme amount of fighting when you're in the field, so it doesn't get too annoying like it can in some RPG's.

  3. Well the annoying part is someone hearing something, not bothering to find out what it means, and just using when they think a similar context comes up, just to sound smart.

Yeah, that's very somnambulant of them

  4. In the past couple years I've experimented a bit with lucid dreaming, so to induce better dreams I've tried Galamantine and Choline chemical subs. Galamantine inhibits the breakdown of Acetylcholine, and Choline promotes its production. ACh promotes R.E.M sleep where we dream most. It's a safer, healthier mindfuck than asswhipping drugs :)

  5. I had to laugh at the ridiculousness of one episode of TNG I saw, where in order to protect the Enterprise from a huge asteroid, Wesley figured out that they could reverse the polarity of the tractor beam, making it a repulsor. Apparently the senior staff was astounded by such simple logic.

  6. That dialogue sounds quite strange. So the captain tells the crew to open the frequencies to make contact, and Riker (1st Lieutenant?) overrides him and orders to fire back? If that is the whole dialogue wouldn't this mean that some kind of mutiny, or at minimum insubordination? :)

1st Lieutenant?!?! That's it, hand over your nerd badge!

  7. Depends what you're doing with them. If you're literally just sitting around drinking and talking shit, then of course it's a waste of time. Doing nothing of any consequence like that is the very definition of wasting time, it's not just my opinion.

*Looks at oDDity's over 5K posts* Since you mentioned you were long ago finished contributing your part to the DM, can you make a proper distinction of how your time spent here is not wasted, without being hypocritical?

  8. STALKER's not bad. Some of its features work purely to annoy the player, like being encumbered by weight and having to carry excessive supplies for dealing with bodily irritations. Its environment though at least tries to be different from the many generic FPS titles out there.

  9. It looks like their designing a post-apocalyptic world to accompany the games continuing fiction. I guess that cult of rage worshippers got a hold of the whole world and turned it into one big smorgasbord of murderous behavior. Thomas and whoever else that chose "compassion" are probably trying to make sense of the world and reign in that cult.

One thing I hate about Condemned is the lack of basic physical motion the game was missing. You can't lean, jump, crouch or mantle in any way, and some access points looked ridiculously easy to gain entry to if I could have just stepped over that fallen bookshelf, but I couldn't.

As long as his swings come with the accompanying "Fug You" or "You Little shi…"

One of the biggest shocks ever = Getting a close-up shot of the gym teacher, Mr. Tibbits face. Reminiscent of the sloth scene in the movie Se7en.

  10. Unfortunately here all we get is rain, fog and wet cold (aka: plus 3 degrees, wind and light rain), fog, smog and did I mention fog?

I guess global warming is really getting to Antarctica. Those conditions are pretty ripe for that part of the world ;)
