Looking good. Can't wait to return to the city... again.

I'l be warned or banned on darkfate for message like that (1)
You made a post just to see if you would get banned?
so what with contest guys ?
Still on I hope.

A spring mission could be full of flowers. I'm somewhat positive on the idea of a seasons contest. I have had an idea for quite a while that would fit the theme perfectly.
-
Have you tried changing 'fiduration' and 'foduration' to something higher, say 5?
-
Love those shots Bikerdude.
Here is some of my work from a personal testmap.
What they show are nine different buildings duplicated several times and strewn about the map. The idea is to add them to the map as facades and backgrounds. Change the textures on some of them and BAM! you have bunch of buildings for decoration.

Fun mission.
First I played it on expert, and was only missing the get out objective, when load the saved game (my error, not the game's). So I finished it on easy.
Gameplay: 3/5. The many guards made it challenging to sneak around. And there were a few occasions where I had to jump for my life to avoid the guards. There were some poor monsterclipping in some places so the guards would walk endlesly into a e.g. a tree.
On easy I could just knock down all the guards, which made the map a bit dull.
Apperance: 3-4/5. The arcitecture had a very 'real' look to it; narrow streets, balconies etc.
Story: 4/5. Quite a lot of readables gave life to the characters and places.
I found couple of bugs:
-
Even the undead are in a holiday spirit!
They had to resurrect some more of their mates to reach all the way around the tree.
-
Looks very impressive. I wonder what the system requirements are.
The link you posted in the original post, Biker seems to point to a single image. Did you mean this?

Generally clues are not something I would personally want to use, unless I was completely stuck. If they must be implemented I would suggest something like Springheel suggested, adding them to the end of the readable. Or simply just giving the clue-containing readables a different inventory icon.

Sorry for the late reply. Haven't been well lately.
@Thiefette
haunt [...] not moving from the doorwayDammit, I thought that had been fixed.
the world went black when I opened the door - only able to see lit torches (I remember this happened in one other mission)Do you remember what mission that was in? Or under what general conditions it was under?
@STiFU
The player coughed occasionally (mostly in front of pictures). Was this supposed to communicate something to me. I was suspecting a secret, but couldn't find anythingActually it was the paintings coughing (it was supposed to scare you )
@Diego
Couldn't find the treasure map, thoughIt is
hidden
in room 4
in the desk
look for a hidden switch
@fraten
I really hoped to meet some courageous Builders somewhere in the mission to help meI had actually considered making the undead incapable of entering the cathedral because it contains 10% more holiness than the next leading building. But it is supposed to have happened quite some time ago, so any builders would have starved to death by now.
@Mr Mike
Surprised this thread is only 3 pages longHuh, on my computer it is only 2 pages
@everyone. Thanks for the replies, comments, and votes.

i missed a rediculous amount of loot... jesps, you are evil like bikerdude.
:insert evil villain laughter:

Thanks for the replies.
I never found the
treasure map
though. I found the 'clue' that said it was hid where it could never be found
It is in
the same room as the clue
in the desk
in a secret room

Very different. Sometimes I dont start DarkRadiant for an entire week. Other times I spent 20 hours during a weekend.
-
Glad you guys like it
@pwl:
there is a hint in the necromancer's journal (the one you read to get the objective)
And please use spoiler tags.
@PranQster: Is this under Linux? If the map leaks it could hint that the download is corrupted. Have you tried redownloading it?

@SiyahParsomen
Boring areas: I suppose this is the hallways mostly. The problem with them was that I made them too big from the start.
The gravestones can be a bit tricky to hit. And the animation is bad because there is no animation The intact stone is just replaced with a destroyed one.
Yup the stone texture used almost everywhere is Melan's.
An in game video? I suppose you mean for the briefing right? Not some 90" LCD monitor in the map.
Spot on on the next mission prophecy!
@Sotha
Wow, praise from Ceasar, I mean Sotha
You just gave me a good idea. Some lightning that shines though the windows when you destroy the book, would have been cool.
Considering the crypt haunt's alternative; walk between 6-7 predefined spots for all eternity, I think you did him a favour.
Thanks for the reviews, I'm glad you liked the FM.

Finished
That was quick
Thanks for the screens.
Is the original post more readable now?

Thanks fibanocci. Added the link to the original post.

Flakebridge Monastery
In this mission you will visit a Builder outpost to steal some
valuable books. It is the first in what I hope will be a series about Selis
Woderose.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank my beta testers:
Aprilsister, Bikerdude, Chiron, lost_soul, and prjames. As well as Fidcal for
his starting map, and Melan for his texture pack.
I'll be going on a trip out of towntoday. At the foot of the mountains to the north lies an old Builder outpost, by
the name of Flakebridge Monastery. It is no longer in use by the Builders and no
one knows why. The Builders have never stated anything official about it, so
little is known about what really happened there. Most rumors are either wild
stories about undead monsters, or simply a Builder priest who has gone rogue,
and broke off from the order. Either way I will have to be prepared for a
challenge.My target is not the usual gold or silver, but a book. It
contains the unpublished works of Jerome Dunham, a musician whose last known
location is the outpost. Furthermore the priest in charge of Flakebridge
Monastery had or has a rare copy of the Builders holy 'Book of Amos'. This
should fetch a nice price if I can get my hands on it.This is the first
mission in (hopefully) a series where you play as Selis Woderose, an orphan who
was taken in by one of the thieves' guilds and raised, and trained to almost
perfection in the arts of thievery. He now works for the guild, carrying out
some heists for the guild, but keeps most of them to him self, to avoid paying
guild taxes. A confrontation will eventually be
inevitable.BackgroundFlakebridge Monastery was build more than two
hundred years ago next to the village of Flakebridge. Overlooking both the road
and river leading to the once wealthy region around Lake Coulter, the outpost
soon flourished from tariffs and donations. Like many other Builder outposts,
Flakebridge Monastery offered travellers a safe haven on their travels, provided
that they could pay for it.Little is known about what has happened there
recently, but anyone who has gone near has not been heard from again. The few
travellers that still need to get through choose the long way around through
pagan infested lands.
Known bugs:
A small number may appear at the bottom left corner of your
screen when the mission loads. Press sheath weapon to make it disappear.
As already mentioned this is the first mission in a series. When
you have completed it you may know what you'll be going after in the next
mission. You may even know where!
Enjoy! And please use spoiler tags where appropriate.
A couple of screens: (thanks lowenz)

Yep, I would very much like to use your textures Melan.
-
Bug report filed.
-
One of my beta testers reported that the number "5" shows up, in the lower left corner of the screen, when the mission started. This happened to be the number of moss arrows he had. I tried it my self, and it seems to be consistent with the number of moss arrows the player starts with (starting item + purchased).
It goes away when you pull out a weapon. What I can't figure out is how to make it not show up at all.
-
I send you both a PM
Do you use shalebridgecradle as a testing forum?Would I know it if I did? Lol. Is there any advantage of using it?
-
Hi,
I am in need of a few beta testers for my next mission, Flakebridge Monastery.
So post here, or send me pm if you are interested.
