  1. Doesn't work for me.

    ./tdm_update.linux --noselfupdate

  2. I run it with Ubuntu 8.10 and an nVidia card with no problems.

You could just make a new partition on your harddisk instead of buying a new one. On that you can install an older Ubuntu version with working fglrx drivers or Windows.

  3. I found a bug with the ropes. Maybe it's already fixed. But it's there in Thief's Den. When you shoot a rope arrow on one of the windows you can open and use the window then, the rope loses its "swing physics". It get them back, when you use the windows again.

  4. Yes,exactly. I can do the code, if you promise to do the artwork (heh, can I hire you to revamp my photo gallery? :D

That was no big deal. I just took an image of a letter with a feather removed the old logo put the DarkRadiant one in. Than a few lines here and there and some text :D.

But I do have some graphics editing experience for sure.

So, I can do the artwork if you want.

  5. Ha, I just played this and it was fun! Extremely short, and mostly "samey" design, but fun and cool nonetheless. Good work :D

The Thief's Den stuff is very limited :D . I think I have some good ideas for (longer and not "samey designed" ;) ) missions but I don't have the content (Textures, Models) to realize it. Is there any way to get these without being a Beta Mapper?

for some reason it caused D3 to crash.

Could you read any error messages before it crashed? Did you follow the readme and copied the xdata?

    Edit: Try this please:

Rename closemouthed_shadows.zip to closemouthed_shadows.pk4 and copy that to your Thief's Den folder. Should be C:\Program Files\Doom 3\thiefs_den on your computer.

  6. In addition to the models you could make use of prefabs. That would save much time and it will be easier to create own missions in higher quality.

A good example is the Amisfield Tower made by Komag: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=8255

That would make a wonderfull prefab. Most people won't spend weeks for a building you may see only a few seconds in game, walking by or in the background. But if they are there as prefabs you just need to load it to your map, change a few textures rotate and scale it, remove or add a few brushes if u need to and it's ready. A wonderfull building which adds great atmosphere finished in a few minutes. You could do the same with candels with already added light entity, finished fireplaces, columns or evelators. The advantage of these prefabs is also that you can change them very easy to avoid that players think "I know exactly that from the last map, it's boring."

What do you think about it?
