Thanks Mircea. I've noticed a number of prefabs and assets that have issues. It's funny, that drawer sound has always bugged me in other missions I've heard it in, but I didn't even notice it in my own.
SpoilerThat was a strange thing that happened to Astrid after sitting in the boat. I wonder if the lamp somehow interfered - it's the only thing that isn't bolted down in there. I should make it immovable.

Thanks. Outside the mansion is the slowest area for me too, although my crappy old laptop still manages >30 fps. I haven't tried Linux though.

Using the newspaper gui definition (guis/readables/sheets/newspaper_bridgeport03.gui) on a readable creates multiple warnings in TDM console.
It still works fine, but there is a wall of text:
The same is true for the other newspaper guis.
Full info: to create a readable newspaper I used the model newspaper01.iwo and then changed the class to atdm:readable_immobile, then edited the info using the Readable Editor - I assume this is the correct way to do it. I also tried using one of the other readables such as atdm:readable_immobile_paper01 and selected the gui definition of a newspaper, but got the same result.

This is a really nice mission. It's just the right size and difficulty, looks great, and the mission objectives provide plenty of challenge without being obtuse. The manor seemed to be absolutely swarming with guards but there were always opportunities to slip by if you were a bit patient. I finished on the hardest difficulty with a perfect stealth score and about 1800/2024 loot.
I encountered a bug where the LOD of the hanging lantern outside the manor door overlooking the fountain is messed up. From inside the house the lantern is invisible and emits no light; as soon as I step through the doorway it appears and brightly illuminates me.
Thank you.
SpoilerThe disappearing lamp is unfortunately by design. Otherwise there is a bug where if someone opens any exterior door, that lantern suddenly shines through the wall (which I thought was more noticeable). It's bizarre.

glad you liked it teknokrat and thanks for the suggestions.

for a SupremeGhost !
when you rescue the girl at the mission end it´s too late --- the spider will rest at the Campfire !
But - when you do it early - he is still moving - so it´s just a question of timing .
? so what´s the trigger for the Spider ? (to not moving anymore)
by time --- by solved Goal --- or had it just been a bug on my Playthrough?Possibly the spider got stuck on something if it stopped moving, I'll take a look at that.

Congratuliations on the release and what incredible quality for a first-timer. The story was really neat and felt very authentic. Gameplay-wise, I also had a lot of fun, although it got really messy at times. You see, I like to play with the rule to only reload when I am dead, so I am forced to play through my mistakes, which can be really fun. A mistake in this mission often meant, that almost all the guards got alerted because a huge portion of the mansion is connected without any doors. And with so many guards, trouble often snowballed, which made this mission pretty difficult. So many guards in one spot also very frequently lead to AI misbehavior like continuously running into a wall etc. For your future missions (hoping there weill be more), I would suggest to split up areas more so that not so many guards come flocking on you on a single mistake.
Thanks STiFU. Yes it's easy to aggro all the guards. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely keep that in mind for the next one.

and here´s my Question (-s) ? : is killing the Spider a break of Rules (BlackJacking my girl is Mission-Fail)
and second : when the 2Guys in the Cellar get angry when they discover they´ve been bestolen ?!?
It´s a scripted behaviour (when you(me) bring back the Light .
They distroyed the Table Candle themself !Wow, that is supreme ghost! I am not so stealthy.
SpoilerKilling the spider is pretty much necessary, otherwise it's unlikely that Astrid would make it to the boat alive.
Yes, the guys in the cellar are scripted to notice the missing loot. I was not sure if I should leave it like that, but it's more realistic. -

This would be cool. He pleads to you that he will be doing only good from now on and you believe him.. and then a follow up mission where you found that he lied and you have to kill him for good.. Or something..
Or like a whole campaign of 15 missions like this. In the end of every mission you get a cutscene where he (again) convinces the player to give him another chance. In the end of mission 15 he dies a natural dead (age).
Edit: Oh I see, I think you mean that the player could surender and like in thief 3 you go to jail.
Ah, I read that wrong too.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Well the beta testers kept me busy making sure it didn't suck.
A surrender option would be a cool thing to implement. I'm not sure if I've seen it done before in TDM, but I think it should be possible to build that into a mission.

This is very enjoyable. I'm playing on Expert, and need a hint.
I've found the secret ladder into the attic, which I think was the first secret, but despite searching the mansion quite carefully I need a nudge as to the location of the second secret. Also a readable talks about a drainage grate - I haven't found that either.
SpoilerHi, glad you like it so far. The other secret is back in the woods. There is no drainage grate, the purpose of that note is just to tell you where you could find a mine.

No further crashes, but I have questions:W
Spoilerhere do I find the antidote and the evidence?
I have a note with important dates, but they don't seem to be the safe combo.
(Apologies for formatting, posting on mobile)
SpoilerYou are very close, the combo is in the note but less obvious than just one of the dates.

That's awesome, thank you. It was fun to learn how to do this. It often felt like I didn't know what I was doing, but I've played every single FM, so I must have picked something up along the way

After taking a gaming break for 1 week, i decided to get back into playing games yesterday especially stealth game like TDM. Coincidentally, this new fan mission appeared in the online mission archive when i was clicking "download mission" button, so I decided to download & try playing it.
SpoilerI like this manor/estate fan mission so far. i like the starting point of this FM where you have to venture silently into small-scale spider-infested forest. On a related note, i have sporadic spider phobia and again this mission helped me to desensitize myself to spider. I usually find the entry point to the manor disguised as a wall with loose bricks or covered with tall green grass but i have to find stone walled key for this one
I'm glad you are enjoying it so far. You are the second person to mention arachnophobia, I guess that is not uncommon.

I finished the mission yesterday, i think it will remain as one of my favorites. The only thing I didn't like so much was the ending,
Spoilergiving the antidote to the girl, after putting the spider into orbit with the mine. Something twisted about having to first take the antidote out of the inventory to release it on the girl, instead of being able to apply it directly
and a little more reaction from her, would also have been desirable.
But hey, overall I really enjoyed this mission. Thanks Zerg, I really appreciate the input. I agree, "use item" would have been a more intuitive way to handle the potion.

Just finished it on Expert!I really, really loved the start.
SpoilerSneaking through the wilderness was very atmospheric and there was lots of loot around, it's like every corner had something to find and there was no empty space. The manor after was also well crafted, with just enough guards, lots of loot to steal, and enough readables to flesh out the characters. After knocking everyone out, I took my time to explore the place.
The plot was fun to follow - a simple premise that offers something more than merely robbing the rich guy, as the player has to assassinate someone as well as save their sibling.
Thanks!
That spider must have killed so many people based on the number of skeletons scattered around
Thanks Kopfrkingl, that's very reassuring to hear.

Congrats on the release of your first mission, the image in the OP is very moody!
Thanks, I think Halloween may have influenced the image, but the FM is not spooky.
