I love it. This guy looks like a perfect foil. I suddenly feel the need to unload a quiver of arrows into him.

WOW!!! FINALLY! This is exciting.
-
Okey, I understand.
So we should probably start writing lines for guards then? Also, what about non-human creatures, such as zombies and burricks? Will your voiceactors do them as well?
Yup, I will have voice actors for everything. Oh, and I also have a document that should cover any state of alertness that we need. It's based on the voice set design document that I was given when I worked on Thief 2X, and believe me, it covers everything.
For the most part these will be improvised by the actors to some degree. I'll give them basic guidance as to what their state is....and of course what they can and can NOT say.
Pretty much have everything tied up on that end of things. I like to be well prepared ahead of time.

No one can possibly tear me away from Adobe Audition 2 (formerly Cool Edit Pro).
NEVER!!!!
Ha ha, took the words right out of my mouth. It's a sweet program.

If we were creating a fan mission, I would say lets have character set submissions. For this part of the project though, we're creating a set of tools for people to make Thief style fan missions, and for that I really want the quality of the voice sets to have a uniform, professional sound. That's not to diminish anyone who was wanting to submit work, it's just that I have been preparing for this in advance.
I have been auditioning experienced actors who are willing to donate their time to the project and will give us some wonderful characters.
It will be recorded here in my home studio. In addition to all that, this is the only job I have on The Dark Mod.. I need something to keep me busy while I'm unemployed.

are there going to be specific jobs for each of the sound people?
and how many do we have, is it 3?
perhaps we should all have a meeting on IRC or better yet something like ventrillo or teamspeak so we can talk real time
thanks
LB
Yup, just sent you a PM. I'll be doing all the Character voice sets so that we don't have different levels of quality.
I've been auditioning actors and have some very good ones lined up. I'll have them in for a sound test next week for you all to hear.

Yeah, that really looks awesome. Good job.
-
Hey looking great!!
-
Since the textures cost money would I be correct in assuming that gives us permission to use them in a mod? I don't think I would have a problem using the textures if they were modified, but to use them right out of the box might feel a bit like cheating to me.
They look like beautiful texture sets though. I"ll have tot hink on it before I vote.
-
Ahhh, glad to see you dropped in.
It would be great to have you on board.
-
As always Blackthief, beautiful work.
I wish I could contribute in some way to the textures as well. Hopefully I can learn.

Right on Renzatic! Lots of atmosphere in that shot.
-
Wow, simply outstanding. That is simply the coolest. Good job Springheel.
-
Now THAT'S the ticket!! I think that's the jackpot right there. I hope everyone agrees.
-
I think the rear legs need to rest a little lower on the underside of the belcher.
-
I think it should have a bit more of an grotesque/sinister look. Right now it looks almost lika a cute little innocent puppy (well, almost). Also, a bit more hair and stuff would be nice.
I like your chemistry diagram! Nice touch.
Puppy? *shudders* I wouldn't want to meet that thing.

I'm not sure now whether or not this is the place to put the concept, but i'll stick it here anyway.
Huge image, all the sketches together
Wow, this is almost exactly how I pictured it. I put my pencil down in honor of you.

well there is this,

Also, i was wondering, are we going to employ the same thing with different guard body types as they did in T3, such as a skinny, a muscular, and a chubby guard?
Thanks god_is_my_goldfish,
That works for me.
I'm not very well versed in armor.

I love it. I'm torn on the stripes like the others though. I think they look really great, but I'm not sure they work within the context of the game. Is it possible to work the red into other areas of their attire?
Damn, I really hate to be critical of this. It's fantastic.
-
Wow, they are quite amazing.
-
I picture them having some kind of sack that inflates under their neck before they belch gas. Trying to draw it, but it's been many years.
-
Very nice Springheel. That's what I was thinking too, I messed around in Photoshop....but I'm too rusty.
-
VERY VERY NICE!
You're doing an amazing job DeepOmega. It inspires me to get back into art. With the crap I draw now it's hard to believe that twelve years ago I could have gotten a job in the comics industry with a bit more honing of my craft. I really miss it.

I sent a PM to S_HOLE, the guy who made the thief Retro menu. He says that he currently doesn't know how to make the menu in Doom 3 but he might be interested. We probably won't have to wait for him, since I think we can make any type of menu we want with the Built in GUI editor. I could be wrong on that one though, but it looks promising. I posted the list of Doom Tutorials in the Documentation section.
Art Request. Game Menu Hud

Hmmm, I like that idea.
Would you be suggesting that the entire Game Menu be a book and when you hit load game the book opens to reveal the available FM's? That would be very cool and original. Not to mention the book opening effect could be reused in game.
