  1. Thanks for this mission, it was enjoyable to play and the crypt area underground was quite scary with the ambient sound effects.

The only annoying part I found was trying to climb out of the well. It was very frustrating, managed to do it once by bashing all of the controls but second time just couldn't do it, even faffing around with rope arrows. I have noticed similar problems in some other missions with wells and ladders coming up from sewers though. I did eventually noclip, but it feels a bit like cheating to resort to console commands..

Still, that's a relatively minor point. The stained glass windows were quite nice too :)

  2. Lol didn't think my simple question would create this much discussion :)

For what it's worth, I think getting TDM working on newer Chromebooks would be awesome (actually I don't see why it wouldn't work on the Chrunbuntu install at least if anyone tried, Crouton runs on top of the modified ChromeOS linux kernel - not sure how this affects things).

I'm not thinking of buying one right now, just writing a blog post about them.

I have an old Dell M1330 with 2.4Ghz T8300 CPU (& GeForce 8400M GS) that I have played TDM on @1280x800, and while it won't win any speed freak awards, it's still playable (maybe not all missions lol..). The 2955U seems to be reasonably close in terms of CPU power - http://cpuboss.com/c...l-Celeron-2955U . Not sure how those Intel HD graphics compare.

Bikerdude - with Crouton you should be able to run a majority of offline Linux apps (hardware restrictions notwithstanding) and some older Windows apps via WINE without forking out extra cash to MS for a Windows 8 license. You can also switch back to Chromebook mode with a key combination.

Chromebooks with Core i3 (i3-4005U with Intel HD 4400) are just starting to appear now - http://www.tomshardw...e2a73dc9630952

  3. This was a cool little mission, I think some people might be put-off at the start though if they think it's yet another mansion heist.

Realising that you have to go down into the rift at the start was pretty exciting, and going down through the various levels was a little scary.

The fact that the lost structure at the bottom was so deep down was really interesting - it reminded me of playing Minecraft and digging massive tunnels down into the ground and really feeling that you're in the bowels of the earth. I think considering that this was a contest mod, it succeeded in creating this feeling quite well.

Wandering around at the bottom was slightly confusing as to what the next step was, but after checking here and realising that you have to go back... well, it seemed pretty tricky but wasn't as bad as it looked.

The access to the church was perhaps a little too well hidden, I didn't play on the hardest level so didn't get any hints about it, however it was also a nicely done extra area.

  4. Really nice mission, very polished and enjoyable. Performance was a bit of an issue for me compared to some older missions, but I'm running it on a really crappy GeForce GT520 card so that was totally expected!

I liked all the little nooks and crannies around the city, especially with the house on the first right after leaving the slums, going up through all the rooms from the basement to the rooftop was cool.

The idea of a retro-apartment complex was good and perhaps added some more realism and drew you into the story a bit more. It also reminded me of the mysteriousness about structures that seem (on the surface) like very modern ideas existing in an entirely relevant way, but in a much older setting. I think that this is one of the most interesting aspects of the Thief-y universe & congrats on doing that.

The towers area itself was visually spectacular, both outside and some of the indoor grand rotundas. There was a nice mixture of guards, and going across the connecting hallway rafters was fun and very atmospheric.

However, I was convinced that there was some sort of pressure sensitive trap in the raised floor around the heirloom display, and went to some effort to rappel down from some rope arrows on the ceiling. Was a bit surprised to find that it was just a normal lockable case!

I did feel perhaps that this whole area was slightly too straightforward, and some sort of unexpected trap or security system could have been cool. It was also slightly confusing about the loot here - initially I thought picking up some of loot in Lancel's room might have failed one of the objectives, since it might have made it look too much like an outside job. Maybe this was addressed in the letter in the safe though, in any case, it's a minor point.
