  1. The thing is that I have been in many (if not most) German cities. I can assure you that there are no cities in Germany that even remotely resemble the A'dam that I described above. Should you ever visit this city, I think you'll agree.

I was in Amsterdam long ago and hardly remember it, but if you ever want to visit a real old town, go to Venice and then away from the tourist spots in the evening. Canals and no vehicles at all! Like in another time...

  2. There would almost need to be a special key or command just to put it in & out from hand to inventory...

You could choose the "use" key to put it into the inventory, like when taking a candle and snuffing it out. Once in it could only be consumed and you wouldn't consume it by frobbing it...

  3. Not all maps are based in the same city/town/village/country/time period.

Hm, I never noticed anything pointing to different countries or time periods, TDM always looks like a generic fantasy world mix to me. And you could solve the citty/town/village issue by making different boards called "jobs out in the country" or "city jobs" or similar. Still there would be an additional problem with campaigns where the player character has a unique name and isn't faceless...

  4. ... or something like adding a town in the game

That too would be a tremendous effort, but I like the idea! Maybe expand the training mission so it is a small town and the game is always started from there. You would then need to start a FM from a black board in a secret hideout or something, like e.g. many RAGE missions were started. But as long as the mappers are working on the campaign I don't think anyone would do something like this...

  5. It's possible with a focus ability.....

Maybe, but you don't need it. If you are close enough and the takedown key appears you can't fail in nuThief...

Compared to that it's easy right now to fail at black jacking in TDM, but I read that this will be improved in 2.02!

  6. It's not the kind of change that's liable to give a developer any sense of personal satisfaction either.

I would see this differently as it affects the basic UI and any improvement there will be visible to all users, many of which might wish for something like that but do not complain here. In comparison many smaller bug fixes on the tracker most people would not even notice! Of course doing a big graphical change or something is more satisfying, I know this myself from Bloodlines. Nevertheless, I can only hope that someone will take a look at this one fine day and if it is an easy thing to do, just do it on the side. If it is too complicated, I understand that it won't be done...

  7. The bug tracker is there to make sure we don't forget. :) Have you added your suggestion to the tracker?

Can anyone add something there? Can I use my login from here or do I have to make a new account?

Update: It seems I need a new account. I will create one and add the suggestion soon :)...

  8. Well, I maintain the Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Unofficial Patch for almost ten years now and if someone suggests something that could very easily be done and makes sense, I normally do it at once before I forget about it. Especially if it's low priority ;)!

  9. And now here you are admitting that you did know, so are you just trolling?

No, I'm once again asking when this would be fixed because as I said above, right now the most logical choise is missing. Honestly, in the improvement thread people already agreed that this would make sense, but nothing ever happened although I suspect this would be very easy to do. So what has one to do here to actually be listened to ;)? I tried with being stubborn :)!

  10. That's easy it's the same key you use to put away the bow. (Makes total sense right?!)

Yeah, like in TDM you need to press attack to close readables that you opened with Frob...

Sorry, couldn't help but point that out again ;)! Will this per chance be fixed in TDM 2.02?

  11. Just finished this mission and it is one of the very best one I have played yet! Although I didn't play all FMs yet by a long shot. The only things I would complain about is that even on easy there were many locks needing three or more lockpicks, which is quite a waste of time. Also it would have been nice to be able to kill some of the invisible guys. I had a lot of holy water and water arrows left in the end, but they didn't seem to do anything thus forcing me to shadow through the last levels...

  12. 1) If I remember correctly the ugly white gray screen was already there in Doom 3, but if it could be replaced by a black screen, the whole thing would look much better.

    2) Yes, that can be easily reproduced during the The Beleaguered Fence mission. Just press ESC during the intro, but maybe this is something mission specific?

    3) Ah, I didn't know that this is more difficult that it seems. So is there a master list of all missions somewhere that would need to be updated and mirrored around?

BTW, played my first TDM mission after playing nuThief today and, man, I was always waiting for hints on where to jump and shoot rope arrows at first ;)!

  13. I know that restarting the game after installing a new mission is necessary, but is it be possible to make the intermediate screen black instead of the ugly grey?

Also I had a minor bug just recently: After I cancelled a too long intro session using escape, I got back to the main menu, but my mouse pointer was invisible!

Last not least what happened to the project to rename missions so it's more obvious to which series they belong? I just started a mission only to read in the journal that it must be one of the Thomas porter series. I wouldn't even know from name which one this would be, it's called The Beleaguered Fence.

  14. I can imagine a stream of new users questions asking about spaces in the path name and why this doesn't work/frustration/uninstall/bad comments/etc.

Also, the stream of comments on why the updater won't run from that location, requiring the no-no admin privs.

Oh yeah, I can attest to that! Once in a while, like very recently, there is a sale of Bloodlines on Steam, which does not run on modern computers without my patch because of a memory bug. Every time there is an uproar and a lot of hate against Steam because Steam doesn't mention the fact or the patch, and people expect a game on Steam to work out of the box. Then when they install my patch they don't notice that the default path is not the Steam path and there is a lot of frustration again. I'll change the default path to the Steam one in the next version because people there are so dumb! TDM should be fail-proof because people expect Steam to handle everything...

  15. Steam gives a route for interested people to do a search at any time for this kind of game and come up with a hit, so they can come to us, since we can't otherwise get to them.

This is possible on Moddb too, and this is where I would go looking for cool mods and free indie games. In fact I think this is where I found out that TDM went finally standalone :)!

Also, there's instant trust. If it passed Greenlight, it can't be just some random homebrew but has to be at least well made.

Really? To me Greenlight looks like a quick shot from Valve to take part in the whole Indie and Kickstarter hype which they overlooked completely before. They Greenlighted hundreds of games now and I don't think most of them even exist. Maybe this is why they want to close it down again. Or probably because having them on their servers for only a few downloads isn't profitable for them...

  16. If you move TDM to Steam, you will keep a Steam free version too, right? Because not everyone want's a corporate client always running in the background to play a free game. If TDM ends up Steam-only, it would be less free for me! Also I doubt that Steam alone will get more players. I for one never monitor Steam, but other sites like Blues News who report a much broader scope. In my opinion you'll get more audience if you'd manage to get new versions announced there or maybe major campaigns releases too!

  17. Normally in games, when you press the "move faster" button while crouched, your character stands up and runs. In immersive sims, you have a button for changing a stance, and moving faster/slower. When you press the "move faster" button while crouched,

Very interesting. I haven't yet understood what creep is supposed to be, but the rest makes sense as crouch running is possible. Still is there any in game info that it is handled that way? Because I normally only run to get away from guards and expected to stand up to be as fast as possible.

If NuThief was an immersive sim, those loading screens would have you select a crowbar, apply that item on the window, then press the climb- and forward keys to climb through, use the mouse aiming to turn around, and activate the window again to close it.

Sorry, but that would be a hell of annoying! I think it's quite bad already because sometimes you have to spam use, which is stupid in any game, sometimes not, sometimes you get a loading screen, sometimes not. The same is true with other things as well, like sometimes you can leave an area while hunted, sometimes not, which can be quite deadly. Sometimes you auto-rob a taken down guard, sometimes not. There were more issues like that but I can't remember all right now. How can a game be so inconsistent regarding gameplay elements?
