  1. Are they on models? If so, there is a bug in DR 1.5 which makes them display sometimes as not found.

Are the on the world and appear *after* you dmapped? Then you likely have a leak, or a not-closed visportal.

    Screenshot?

No they don't appear ingame. It's a large outdoor area without any visportals, so that could probably be it.

The textures that are missing are on the clocktower prefab.

  2. Oh dear. Seems I ignited a new contest discussion. I have no delusion of actually winning this, but I shall step down if anyone asks me to. But some people are better at planning and visualizing things in their heads than I am. I use DR for this purpose. So while I concider what I'm working on now a draft, I'm obviously working on something that's intended for an entry to a contest. But it could also be released outside the contest as it ties in with the main story line of something I'm working on. This contest opened up the doors to my protagonists past, something I have to keep exploring as it is deeply intriguing.

  3. To be fair,I start my map after contest be declared

Sorry.:( If it's a problem I'll of course refrain from entering the contest. But this is a little too strong to be stopped at the moment. Creative juices are flowing. No, not that kind of creative juice...

  4. I've poked my freakin' nose where it doesen't belong again... I tried to install ubuntu 10.10 alongside my Vista installation using Wubi. Now Vista won't boot. The installation couldn't be repaired either so I restored it to a point before Ubuntu. Now I can't uninstall ubuntu, or boot Vista. Some would argue that this is a good thing, but not for me as I require access to windows for a lot of things. Any tips?

  5. @ Baddcog: Thanks. I'll check out that particle thingy.

@ Serpentine: Wow. That demo would be great!

@Springheel: No idea what you're talking about, but it sounds super awesome!

My god! I just had an epiphany of what this mission is about. It's great. Thanks nbohr1more for setting these gears in motion.:)

  6. Yes... Working with ideas for that Seasons contest. Nothing solid, yet. But I remembered how magical winter was when I was a kid. Seeing how the snow glitters in the light of the streetlamps. Pretending it was the stuff dreams were made of. And I was wondering if there is a way to simulate that glittering effect on snow textured surfaces when illuminated.

And also if it would work to replace the rain/snow with falling leaves, and if so... how?

  7. I assume there's a certain element of "open for interpretation" here. And I think it should be, because that opens up a whole bunch of creative avenues. How do I implement this concept into my map? I would think that most of us look for a challenge rather than throw in some snow patches or lush green fields and leave it at that. It will be interesting to see what comes out of this, if it is left up to the author how to implement the seasons concept rather than give them a bunch of guidelines.

  8. I am on the opinion that a contest could be the best way to teach yourself. You've got a focus, you've got a deadline and you've got a community that's ready to help you if something goes wrong.

Perhaps I should enter? The worst thing that could happen is total humiliation, which I'm fairly used to anyway. I gather I can't be sued or anything if it turns out I can't meet the deadline and have to step down?

  9. Perhaps a vote on the actual theme of the contest introduced too many individual ideas and opinions from the start. I can only speak for myself, but I started creating a map in my head to go with my favourite theme when the vote was going, and I registered a slight disappointment when it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Perhaps this phenomenon is real for others as well, and interest gradually wanes. The crowd splits and returns to everyday lives after the execution. "Nothing more to see here."

I'd love to enter even though I didn't get my Dark Secrets, but at this point I feel I am simply too unexperienced to provide any quality mission within the time limit. Mapping and atmosphere is one thing, introducing challenging gameplay is another.

  10. I can't seem to reproduce this. So, I've no idea.

But while we're on the subject of Audacity and sound editing:

When adjusting the volume to the desired level (I'm using Audacity), I've always worked on a line by line basis. Meaning I extract one part of a larger file and adjust it's volume and save it. But this can't be the best way to do things as the volume level will vary more or less in relation to another. So, how do you do it?
