  1. I really like the idea of presenting the bow and the clothes in real life this way. I could not imagine this for T1,2 or TDS back then. It's a nice idea and a big effort!

It's a classic case of throwing money at something to make it more appealing. I'd be willing to bet there are entire worth-while indie games produced on the same budget as the suit and bow by themselves. If Thief is broken, some neat trinkets aren't going to fix it.

  2. I've got a major bug to report, I'm having a nearly total input failure. None of the GUI/HUD buttons work once the game is started. I've tried clicking all of them with the mouse cursor, no response. I've tried starting the FM in all 3 difficulty levels. Not sure what to do... the mouse sensitivity function does work, i need to reset it every time I quit. Nothing else in the game works.

*note: The back-room mechanisms for the game are steampunk as hell!!! Total awesome!

  3. Reading these quotes I wonder if the developers have ever played a Thief game? <_<

No, dey hav played de Teef gemme.

Seriously though, based on screenshots its pretty much already 100% confirmed that there are QTE takedowns even on the frontside of the AI. RIP stealth. Also, I hate what they did with Garrett, and I'm pretty sure they're not using Stephen Russell... the only garrett quote we got so far was text... and I didn't even like it.

    I smell failure.

  4. I'm not sure how to feel about this other than that I get this sinking feeling that things like rope arrows, climbing gloves, stealth ko's/kills, are going to be heavily contextual, and QTE "press the button(s) when standing in just the right spot"-ish.

That grappling looking thing seems to me to be the new "rope arrow". It looks like its a hook attached to a short piece of rope, effectively limiting the height to which you can attach to things, and probably the type of things to which the hook will attach. meh.

  5. it'll be a cinematic trailer with no gameplay, but at least it'll tell us if they fucked up the atmosphere or did something drastically retarded like sniper rifles. I look forward to confirming Stephen Russell and Garrett, but I don't expect much else.

  6. I think forcing the player to make notes is antiquated and obsolete.

Only because we live in the age of casual no attention span gaming. I always enjoyed games that make you put in a little extra effort. An in-game note system like TDP/TMA is about as modern a system as is necessary. I never used the "notes" section in the back of game manuals, as I like to leave their condition pristine and unmarked, fooling myself that my games might be collectible over time

  7. Yeah, I've played some recently. I've beaten the game on Normal twice now, once with Kestrel type B, and once with Slugship type B, which only starts with a healing bomb and artemis missile. That run somehow ended up being the best run of my career, with a score of 4242, and the end boss was cake. Cloak/teleporter combo is imho the best endgame solution. Screw the drones unless you are lucky enough to get a boarding drone, which I've only seen once in my entire FTL career(?!)

About Osprey: have you managed to get a weapon pre-igniter on one yet? i've tried a bunch and never got one. Could totally rape the whole game with that, if it applies to the artillery.

I've unlocked everything now except Rock and Crystal cruisers. I finally unlocked the Mantis ship, and it is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE awful. I hate it. Slugships so much better. Maybe things will turn around when I unlock type B Mantis.

  8. Heh.. Like this?

    oh..my..god. *facepalm*

I had to stop watching that first video after like 2 minutes because I was going to claw my eyes out... ah, who am I kidding, you can't look away from a train wreck *watches the rest*

edit: ahahaha, the beginning of the 2nd video put a great big smile on my face. And he even has the balls to say that the patch dumbs down the game to COD level. How f'ing classic. The eternal conflict of "I say 'camping', you say 'tactics' " continues.

re-edit: I'm going to watch some more MWO videos. I really hope MWO is as potentially brutal and tactical as I dream it could be. I'd like to see TAG's, NARCs, and LRM's in use, along with flamers, axes, and offensive jump-jets used to DFA crash-land on top of other mechs.

  9. We would also like to remind people that the ECM is not all powerful. The rock to its scissors is the TAG laser. If you use it to hit anyone cloaked by an ECM, you and your team will be able to target them. Like any new addition to the game, this just requires a shift in thinking how to equip your Mech and/or team.

I think this is probably a good thing, as it will likely remove/reduce the popularity of the traditional "elite" codfag sniper camping gameplay over-running MWO. You will know these players because they will sit back at range with 4 LRM20's equipped, let everyone else do the work, run away if something comes towards them, and constantly ask questions about how to control their mech. Or at least, thats how I imagine it happening if I played the game.

  10. According to the linked video, you can target your allies targets and stuff. Are NARC beacons available in MWO? Because that would allow for some seriously crazy target painting for extra long range LRM destruction in a multiplayer scenario. I'm envisioning a NARC'd target with 100 incoming missiles from 10KM range right now.
