  1. Fidcal: I too have the habit to blindfrob AI´s. It seems keys are only highlighted if you center them and not the AI. But even centered they are hard to spot. If an AI does have 2 keys, I never saw the second, so I always make a double-blindfrob.

So far I had no problems with the highlight-system. Like Fidcal, i always deactivate the lantern while searching for sth. But this secret bookcase-levers I don´t saw until now, but I haven´t played all the FMs yet.

As for frobbing itself: well, I like it very much to have everything frobable. (is it 'frobable' or 'frobbable'?) I don´t like the far frob-distance. (object and doors) I want to get close to objects to frob them. And I don´t like the noise when frobbing objects. It´s hard, really hard to know what distance and angle you must have for not making noise if you wanna 'inspect' an object. Isn´t it possible to remove the 'first noise'-effect?

And like Fidcal, I don´t like the crouch-position too. I have now the habit to climb of opened chests to look inside. As we speak of it, Fidcal, what did you talked about crouch-height-toggle? I will look myself in the console for that...

And slashing banners: In Thief I always blindfrobbed (again this blindfrob) banners. Don´t want to slash those nice things. (And some guards will notice! In Ramirez they did.) And I hope it will be possible in DarkMod. It´s like position your hand behind the banner and touching for something.

And as Melan said: The AI is a little bit fast in alert-mode. In example they´re able to see very far and run like Hell to me. You can test this in 'No Honor Among Thieves' in the city mission. They should walk normally and investigate but not be in fighting mode.

The Melee-system is very good. With the difficulties it should work for everyone.

So, the most thing that should be improved IMO is the frob-system.

As for the amount of frobbable objects: it could be a difficulty-setting: the higher it is, the more objects are frobable. (I want to see frobbable chairs, it´s so cool to bump into them! :) )

  2. So, what are the results?

    --

  3.

Just select your 'empty' stash and press 'drop'-button. A little crate will be spawned, so make sure there is enough space on the table.

    :)

BTW, my save for the first mission is about 72 MB. My Menu-save that I used 3 times is only 52 MB. But I never crashed on this mission, only on the second. Will try it again today, but first I wanna find all the loot in mission one, only 50 missing...

  4. As I remember,

the window in the second floor is highlitable

. Or what do you mean with 'feedback'? And, GC? Haven´t I told you about the bathrooms? ;)

Last night I replayed the first mission. 2 hours? No, I spent almost 4 hours in there. But still I can´t find all the damn loot. Don´t know where to look! Still 100 missing! This makes me mad! (I know, I tend to overuse exclamation marks!) I must´ve played this mission 5 or 6 times now in a week! Please, tell me about some hard to find loot! Did I tell you that this makes me mad?

Mission 1 is so much fun to ghost, with John and one guard going everywhere.

Especially if you miss the second key on John.

But now I finally look into the second mission. I just looked into it last night and saw that the blacksmith is still blocking himself after the player grabs the key. (You haven´t tried to change that, GC, or did you? I´m just curious.)

  5. You can try create a 'autoexec.cfg' in the DarkMod-folder.

Edit: I tested it and it works. But what values are you using? I just tested with the standards and 'bloom_hud'. This is the first time I saw Bloom in DarkMod and it is really beautiful, the light seems to be more warm. Only the effect on the lanterns seems a little too much for me and the moon-texture is harder to see. But the moon-glow is stunning. (Tested in the first mission of NHAT-campaign)

As I first heard of Bloom I thought it is an unrealistic effect, but while I see it now I must say that it looks with bloom more realistic. I mean the glow around affected lights. I have to play all FM´s again with this effect and delete all screenshots I made so far. :) I just hope, I´ll have no crashes, though.

For all other players who may not know:

Create a textfile with name 'autoexec.cfg' (enable filename-extensions in windows) and add the line

    set r_bloom 1

    .

You can also add other things like

    seta g_showPlayerShadow 1

    or

    set tdm_door_control 1

. This way you have an overview of what you changed and if there are problems, you can easy change things in this file back to normal or just delete. (0-> means deactivated and 1-> activated) :)

Note: The 'door_control'-command is for smooth opening the doors with the mouse, but it works not on every door and dont´use it on locked doors. But it´s great (if it works) for spying through doors to peer beyond.

Does someone else know other useful commands?

  6. blue screen of death

you get it when windows crashes, it will display a bunch of hex addresses related to the hardware on your system, saying there's something wrong with the hardware or drivers for hardware.

Thanks. Experienced this in the past too. (Who Windows-user does have not?) Ok, I understand this is more serious. Hope, you can somehow fix this, aida.

  7. Did you have the crash on the first or second mission?

My quicksave for the first is up to 72 MB! But I had no crashes. While Betatesting I had exactly this crash on the second mission. (In the caves upon quickloading, and on a later runthrough while quicksaving!! And as I wanted to end the mission (fulfilling objectives, not just quit).

  8. Is it possible? Maybe with some program that converts the brushes? Because my girlfriend had made a lot of work for the game 'Undying', that used Unreal-engine 1.5 or something like that. She used UndyingEd 2, much improved. I think a little similar to Unreal Tournament. What I wanna know is if it´s possible to use the brushes she made in DarkRadiant? Maybe more?

  9. Hmm, so the Linux problem was: The DarkMod searched for 'politics', but there was only 'Politics', right?

GC, I found all this loot you mentioned. As you may remember, I always thought the 'secret' tile in the priest quarter is too easy to find.

I´m missing 100, is there maybe one item that has this amount of GP´s?

I found the gem on the rafters, the necklace in the tower, there must be something really well hidden. Or very obvious, that I missed. unsure.gif The ring in the spider-cave is the first loot you can grab, right? Is there more loot in the belltower than the necklace and the purse with coins? There isn´t something on the well, is there? And there is also no way to get up in the chapel/cathedral, right? I even searched the benches in there, but nothing.

Fidcal: Candles under your PC? LOL! But what PowerFalure? Your PC or your whole house? :)

Yeah, I think too that Mission 2 is maybe too big for some systems, I had crashes while Betatest, too. I´ll play Mission 2 now and I´ll try not to save so often, so I´ll tell later how it worked out...

  10. According to the light gem it really is very bright everywhere. But I had no problems with gameplay, though I´m using an improved Difficulty for Guard-awareness. And the fixes I tried just did something to the fog and sky settings. It´s this damn fog, without fog it really looks good. I can´t remember the mist-comment, I look into it again...

woah: Well, I´m not sure why you can´t run the old Thief´s but you should try the ddfix-update (included in Tafferpatcher, but there is not the newest, though), with this both Thief´s run on newer systems just fine. This here is the first issue I saw. But I had never crashes or something like that...

  11. OH hell, didn´t expect so much problems before even starting the mission. Not me, I had no probs.

As for the loot in mission 1, I already have the ring in the spider-cave. ´Cause I betatested it want some hard to find loot tips, please! 100, there is it? Don´t know where to search.

I had to pay tribute for all the betatesting the last days it seems. I slept almost 9 hours today! In a couple of hours I´ll continue the second mission. I hope there will be no crashes this time. (I guess the cause is too much quicksaving & reloading)

And what is with this Linux-thing? What existing politics? I don´t get that. *just got back alive though*

  12. PranQster: This seems to happen when you alert someone (sleeping thief?) in the hotel. Stay away from the AI´s in the hotel, then the guards outside should act fine.

I just played the first mission. Had a lot of fun. Tis was the first time I saw the patrol routes working. Was so great to have AI´s everywhere. But I´m exactly 100 loot missing. Can´t find anymore, hints please!!!

And I had no problems downloading. Installed all three missions. And yeah, the cool kids use 7zip! :P

  13. Damn, I´m so lucky. I just finished watching Komags Tutorial videos and you just put it online.

Some odd thing on Firefox: As I started the download 'normal', there I had only 50 kb/s. But now as I´m using the add-on DownloadHelpers/DownThemAll I have about 270 kb/s! This is some kind of a difference. But anyway, still too slow... On the other hand, 36% done, 5 minutes left. I gotta go to the bathroom first...

  14. Yeah, right! I had very much fun watching this Videos while waiting for NHAT-campaign release. This videos are very helpful, indeed, because there went everything wrong what could´ve been, almost. Beginning with Autoplay. ;) But this must be some slow machine, and this keybord, my goodness. :P

But I was very glad to see tutorials for DarkRadiant, I will surely follow them. Thanks a lot Komag! :)

  15. I experienced some annoying loudness-issues in the past FMs that I commented too in their threads. But now I found out it has to do with the Audio-sliders in the Menu of DarkMod. It seems that music and some sounds are played on full volume and it doesn´t matter what setting the SFX-slider has.

For example: I had SFX and Ambient on 50% and this was the reason I had so often too loud music and too loud voices (as they appear in the new No Honor Among Thieves-campaign).

So I suggest to every player to adjust all the Audio-sliders to 100%! On most missions it doesn´t matter how you set the sliders, anyway. In some missions, the music is adjustable by the Ambient-slider, but most of the time music is played at 100%. So if you have the slider on 100% in the first place you will most likely experience no differences in the several missions you play.

This whole slider-issue will most likely solved in the next TDM-updates. But I guess it will effect then only newer missions...

  16. Ah, very good. This way I only have to delete the file once. Though one has to make sure to first install new missions.

And I made myself a folder in the DarkMod/fms folder like '0_non-active FMs' where I place missions I don´t want to appear on the ingame Missions-list. I guess other players would appreciate this. (You only need to move the Mapname-folders in the 'fms'-folder. The ones in Doom3\ can be left alone)

It would be cool if DarkMod would do this itself, like a managing FM-system. And for the duplicate-thing I suggest some sort of developer-mode for the DarkMod in which the missions are left in the fms-folder, but in normal Player-mode they get deleted. But this would be something for the future, not important now because this can easily done by the players themselves, if they know what to do.
