  1. [even-more-wise-ass-mode]That´s what I meant and did with 'lifting the veil of darkness' and most other screens seem to be lighted up a little (I do so always) and I can name at least one who did that with recent posted shots and said so...

(hehe, finally I can quote it)

Gamma settings in Doom 3 are always neglected for screenshots

    "You´re lying through your teeth!"

    Because:

I couldn´t believe that there is someone with a darker gamma-setting than me, but after I lifted the veil of darkness I saw a very pretty sight; I say 'beautiful' very often to nice shots, but this really deserves it, sth that was never there before. Too bad we can´t get into the water, oh wait, that was T3. Then again, will you allow the player to swim/dive in there?

  3. Yeah, just the last two days I spent nearly hours in Bikerdudes Cathedral-FM-town-section adjusting the gamma in the bell-tower and on the roof. In the TrainingRoom I can´t see the Capitals in the middle but I don´t want it any brighter. I hope that I have now a setting that fits most missions...

Oh, and congrats for 1.03 Release this way, though 2 days too early, you know that, eh? ;) But the download-speed, only 50kb/s with 54mbps... ^_^

I can´t wait to test the performance with the new settings on my new GPU. Last night I found it that it´s not good to run TDM in 1080p (1920x1080), I´m down to between 30 and 40 FPS on some spots and it IS slower, with my GamePad I notice it even more when looking around. Only at 50 FPS it feels perfect. But in 720p (1280x720) it runs just fine at 60 FPS (playing without Vsync is not an option for me and it doesn´t slow down anyway) in Biker´s map, I wonder if the new settings have a dramatic impact...

You see, updater is so slow that I spam your thread here, but there is so much else to read, see you later...

  4. Hey, THANK YOU! As long as I can create a separate script-file with my changes it´s not really 'hardcoded' for my understanding. :)

In Doom3 it´s a different story however, I scanned the whole script-folder for sth with 'fov 90' but it´s nowhere. Also does Doom3´s method zoom in from the already changed g_fov-value, so here I would have to edit the zoom-in-value that actually is 70, my new fov. But that´s sth I can post over in Doom3world...

Thanks again, Grayman. I scanned Doom3´s script-files before for FOV-stuff, so I didn´t thought that TDM is using a script for the zoom. I thought it´s just the same zoom used in Doom3...

  5. Where are the '_zoom'-values hidden? I mean the 'g_fov'-changes that the Spyglass does.

Because I changed my g_fov to 70 and it´s just awesome, frobbing is much better now and it feels more realistic. Only problem is that the spyglass zooms in from 'g_fov 90' and I need it now to zoom in from '70', where to do that?

It´s not in the def and not in the gui, what else is there for such stuff?

I hope it´s not hardcoded in the dll?

  6. Who the hell are you? I don't know you. Get lost.

Heh, most entertaining post these days, besides Aida´s resurfacing of course! :) And what´s wrong with my 'sth'? I thought it´s common...

As for our 'Russian Problem': They tend to see TDM with all existing FM´s (LongShad, how many TDM-FM´s did you play, btw?) as a whole and projecting criticism meant for the FM to the Mod itself, I guess that was what Tels didn´t liked. So I suggest to look into the mission-threads, maybe that helps to get a better 'feel' of the missions and how they are to play and maybe, only maybe, you start seeing the glory of what can be possible and is already done here... :)

  7. No, I meant that much older story that stumpy or Lost-Soul (has to be one of them) mentioned a couple of weeks/months ago. The story was that the Thief-code (which game I don´t know) was accidentally sold by Eidos (?) on an old HD they wanted to get rid off. So, if it´s sold, the copyright is sold with it, right? If the story is true, though...

  8. Sorry that I walk in this lately, but I´m/was atm totally sucked in by SystemShock1/2, can´t help but play it, even now I´m listening to the Soundtrack and after this post I´ll go back...

As KoMaG said, Pinnacle is the one to choose, though you have to pay for it. A trail is not very helpful, because it only runs 10 minutes. But you can do almost everything in it, like Komag said. I also implemented Rumble(Force Feedback, consoles call it simply Vibration iirc)-effects for the end of jumping, swinging weapons and an increasing effect for the bow, all perfectly timed. At the start it can be a bit confusing, but at the end you always got what you want. With switches and Double-commands you can assign everything. :)

With a little modding you can also achieve different walk-speeds for the Analog-stick, besides sneak/walk/run I mean...

Sidenote: with the last pinnacle-version-update I encountered some bugs with the Rumbe-effects, the version I use now is 5.4.0 that comes with the installer, so, atm I don´t recommend to update.

Before I used Joy2key that was already mentioned here and I tested others before I came to Pinnacle. None of them fitted my TDM-needs but Pinnacle.

Ok, advertising ends now, my goddess needs me...

  9. I don´t know where to ask else, it seems there is no (quake1) consolecommand for this:

In HeXeN II, how to set the cd-path so I can hear the nice music from the cd if it´s not in D:/?

    edit:

Alright, alternately I found a way to use the soundtrack as oggs... :)

  10. Well, the walk-speed really is a joke. I changed that to 140 (it was 290!!! even doom3 had 220 for running!!) and now it plays even better, can walk backwards and slash without being hurt, most of the time.

Yes, the gameplay is very simple, but it was very much fun, I´m just at the second level after I found the bones and I didn´t know what to do with them and also was tired. It looks very good though the blood-decals are a joke too. Well, the flying gargoyles were damn nice animated and without crosshair nice to fight. But again only so few of weapons? I want my sword, but it´s still a demo and I guess the other characters are not included in this release...

It fuels my need to reinstall HeXeN II, but wait, can I play it today with OpenGL? I remember it was only compatibe to 3dfx, hey, I just found this and Hope strongens....(I know it´s not a word but it sounds fitting)

  11. My AA and AF work fine.

I agree that the "next weapon" button should skip empty slots and also work from "the go". However, I think having a hole in the slots can be covered by pressing "next" twice? I usually use the mouse to scroll through weapons, and I can't remember havng problems switching arrows when I have f.i. no gas arrow.

How could you forget, Tels? That´s the infamous 'Mousewheel'-bug!! That bug no one is willing to provide a patch until mod-update-release... -_-

The problem with the leaning seemed to be that the arrow is shot from its showed position, so sometimes it just hits the corner, leaning a little bid 'wider' is the habit to learn. But I´m still not sure if it is a bug or not. Ideally the AlterEgo will hold the bow more to the left/right while leaning.

Hmm, could it be as simple as just adjust some Offset-values for bow-leaning or sth like that?
