And the Infrastructure is just a side effect of trade. China wants minerals. But they aren't the common colonial power like us westeners. Whether the Taliban will just siphon up the money and do like us westeners do - or whether they let the whole population benefit - that only time can tell.
We know that they are strictly against drugs - so maybe, the USA can at least parrtially just win its war on drugs by not even trying anymore...I don't think the Taliban are changed at all. I saw them gunning down protestors on the news. I doubt they care what happens to the "Western-Corrupted Commoners" beyond preventing them from fleeing and utilizing them as a labor force, along with occasionally executing any "infidel" amongst them to scare the populace into obedience. I think we should regroup our troops into where the resistance against the Taliban currently resides and try a pushback.

Does anyone else here sometimes feel fear of losing their of grasp of their own sense of morality in the face of personal and global adversity? If so, how do you deal with it? Prayer? Therapy? Talking to loved ones?

I definitely think one of the reasons The Dark Mod community is rather small, besides being based on an older niche stealth game, is because of a mixture of lack of advertisement and not being on more popular platforms.

Which actual people; though? Well, I always liked the song "Talk" by Coldplay. The lyrics are about a man talking to his brother and worrying about the future and wanting to talk to him about it. I'm in my mid-twenties and autistic, and my brother in his late teens. Sometimes I feel like I don't hang out with him as much as I should, because when he was younger he looked up to me as funny and smart, knowing cool things and having a wacky sense of humor. But I guess over the years me and him grew apart despite living in the same home. I'm kept in the basement apartment and he has a second floor room of the 3 story house, so we don't get to speak much, especially since to "enable independence" my parents lock the door to my 1 room apartment to make it so i cant come upstairs uninvited. I miss back when me and my brother talked about things; like movies, video games, tv, myths and legends of monsters, and philosophy. So the song resonates with me.

I'd like to hear the thoughts of the people on this board of what they think the future of mankind holds. Will we eventually diverge as a species into multiple descendant races? Or will we somehow keep our baseline DNA and form universally compatible? Will we be a free society or a dystopia? Is the future still malleable depending on the will of the people and the will to risk it all, or do only a small elite control us all with free choice being an illusion? Will we get into interstellar travel, or are we doomed to die when our sun does, if not wipe ourselves out before then?

Hell, depending on whichever of the various factions the rich person who owns the mansion may or may not have ties to, he could have anything from a magical artifact room from links to the Mages, a room of clockwork devices from the Inventors, a room full of illegal substances from smugglers among Thieves, or a secret door in the cellar that leads to a catacomb where they dabble in Necromancy.

Some ideas could include a smoking room with a pool table and a record player along with a bar and drink display. A trophy room filled with trophies of animals real and fantastic like deer and belchers, a wine cellar with a reference to the casque of amontillado with a skeleton behind a bricked up wall, a bathroom with a fine in-floor marble bath, multiple fireplaces, a library filled with readable books on foreign lands and interesting lore and exotic creatures, a couple guest bedrooms, a main bedroom with opulent bedding, a grand entry hall, long hallways with shadows to hide in, stuff like that.

While I don't personally need any forum moderators to tone down or restrict personal insults hurled at "me", the TDM community is generally in agreement
that we do not want our forums to be a playground for those who seek to insult other members. If you need that type of interaction, go to a scoundrel forum like
quake3world where it is encouraged (and results in quake death matches between members).
Otherwise if you wish to traffic in political controversies, be prepared to offer logically defended statements and adhere to forum rules.
For example, you already have many threads about your personal concerns about Islam. Rather than opening a new thread about Afghanistan to air
these same thoughts, add the Afghanistan issue to an existing thread rather than "spamming the forums" with the same content.
All this said, I doubt very much that you are actually interesting in engaging with these topics in a meaningful way.
I am inclined to believe that you are trying to find hot topics that can polarize members of the forum and try make TDM less comfortable for those who are centrists.
There are several political troll factories who engage with this behavior in the wider interwebs.
( If this applies to you. ) Tell your employer; whether they be Russian propagandists, Chinese propagandists, Saudi propagandists, Cambridge Analytica, Share Blue, Media Matters for America, Republicans, Democrats, CIA, or any other national intelligence agency that the majority of the clear thinking members of this forum do not care about your partisan rhetoric and will not divide into a "forum civil war" over your intentional acrimony.
I'm not a Russian troll farmer. I just have my own opinions. But fine. If you don't want to hear my political beliefs, I'll tone it down.

Now I'll admit: I could word things I bring up in a less hasty or panicked matter. I'll admit, I get anxious when I read about the various terrible things reality serves up like a heaping platter of "nope" almost daily. I'm a bit coarse in my language. But one of the things that attracted me to this forum is that not only does it focus on The Dark Mod, which is inspired by the original Thief Trilogy, which I adored growing up but could never get because I was too young at the time, and also because Springheel is rather pro-free-speech, something many forums don't allow or severely limit nowadays in fear of being "CANCELLED". I'll admit I used to be far left, and pro-cancelling whatever offended me. But over the years my literally autistic self matured (mostly) and learned that screeching at people to shut up because you don't like their opinion on how to stop legitimately bad things in the world when ssometimes, freedom does, indeed, need to be defended with force. And, as such, I gradually became more center left. I still consider myself a liberal in the classic sense, a strong supporter of secularism, and a violent opposed of authoritarianism and theocracy and the normalization of ties with theocracies and authoritarian states. I'm very thankful that Springheel allows for his platform to allow us to discuss and theorize about the news of the world, withoutbeing moderated by ban-happy mods. So, when you come here and start acting shifty and saying basically either I go and the forums start shutting up about what you don't like, or else you, as a Fan Mission creator (something I wish I could do but for multiple reasons can't) will leave the forums, especially when you could just ignore any threads I start, makes me dislike you as being a childish, weaselly suckup who takes advantage of The Dark Mod's low amount of developers to try and unspokenly blackmail the forums into censoring itself when you could just not participate in my threads.

Well, geegee, I'd say I'm sorry if bringing up the problems of the real world in the Off-Topic section whose description reads "You Can Talk about Anything here", where people are allowed to discuss modern politics and world events without the ridiculous amount of one-sided censorship sites like Twitter and Facebook employ, but to be honest, when you post it here saying "I'm not going to name names" and basically saying "Either he goes or I goes oh teh noes", I gotta say you basically slapped the sympathy I had for you out of my hands like a it was a plate of some slightly overcooked Chicken Tendies being slapped by a 600 Pound Neckbeard Neet from his Mammy's hands with a bellowing cry of "IT'S FOOKIN' RAW". I get it, video games are fun. But if you're a fan of the Dark Mod, you're probably a fan of Thief. And Thief came out so long ago, you're probably an adult, especially if you both managed to sign on to the site on your own.
