Is hibernation eating memory in Win10 (I don't see how)? This wasn't the case in Win7 afaik.

If it is due to the operation of hibernation itself. You open an application with hibernation activated, then Windows will create a copy of this program so that it loads right away when you hibernate the PC and take it out of it again. You will have the program open where you left it. It can be useful, but it invariably consumes resources.
With indexing something similar happens, you occupy the system with recording each change and file activity to update the index, which in traditional HDs accelerated the search somewhat but which today, especially with SSD disks, is practically meaningless.
They are two of the services that can be perfectly dispensed with, adding the other services and drivers for non-existent or unused peripherals, which has Windows activated by default and not to mention certain telemetries and services (Cortana) to 'improve the User experience (?) '.
Removing this can increase Windows performance by 10-30% and provide the missing resources to play TDM fluently.
I have always do the mentioned and on my previous PC with even fewer resources (4Gb RAM 1 Gb GPU) I have always been able to play TDM, DOOM III and the like with a more than acceptable FPS..

Windows has always had the need for a general entrance cleaning to put it in shape, it's like a Porsche that comes by default with a trailer full of junk.

@ Zerg Rush: Are you the artist that made this map? It is exceptionally well made, my compliments. If it's yours, would you be willing to add some Bridgeport districts and locations to this map?

I've paste simply a old map from Constantinople in a pergament vector which I've found in the web, using the Lunapic online editor. Nothing special, everybody can do this. (Lunapic also has a extension for browser "Right click edit with Lunapic" which you can find in your browser store. Very practical, it allows you to edit an image from the web before sharing it with a few clicks)

  3. Thanks for the reply. Yes, the increase in light when turning off the lamp is certainly not very logical, although I think that it is not something that influences the gameplay too much taking it into account. The mission as such is impeccable, this little bug aside, but it seemed important to report it, maybe for un future update.

  4. I do not intend to disparage the work of the developers, on the contrary, I consider TDM one of the best games in my collection that I have been playing since the first standalone version.
Nor do I ask for a rocket launcher, or that developers immediately sacrifice every minute of their free time to implement every tiny glitch that may exist right away.
But if I can report a possible bug and ask why it is due, as well as suggestions that perhaps in future updates may be useful for some.
So far I have not had any problem with finishing each mission, although the light gem, at least for me, is not reliable as an indicator as it is now.

  5. Certainly a great mission, I've really enjoyed playing it (masterful the spooky mansion)
But I have a small complaint about the strange behavior of the light in some places, especially in the warehouse.
Turning off the light increases the level of visibility instead of decreasing, as would be more logical.

Same behavior in other sites of the map. Can anyone else confirm this?

I hope we can find the bug that might be causing this, because your suggestion would clash completely with the look and feel  of the UI in my opinion!

It is not necessarily this design, I have just edited it quickly to illustrate the idea

Can you verify this by also displaying the lightgem values? I think there was a console command for displaying it. If not I may have done it differently in the past and would need to provide something. Note that a brighter lightgem can have to reasons: (1) the lightgem value is higher, which would also result in you beeing more visible to the ai (which doesn't seem to be the case) or (2) the surface just gets rendered brighter.

Increasing gamma and or brightness will probably also effect the appearence of the gui elements, unless it is explicitely designed to not to. I don't know that. That the gem appeared to be brighter after turning of the light could be an optical illusion, though. It may appeaed brighter as everything else got darker. Especially when playing in a dark room this could be the case, imho.

But as afore mentioned this needs testing.

. No, no is an optical illusion. I will see this afternoon if I can make a capture. The place in question where it is most noticeable is entering the warehouse in the small room with the wine barrels that are there. By turning off the lamps there, the gem increases the brightness, also considerably. It may be a bug.
Yesterday I was thinking that the other may have to do with some incompatibility of 2.09 with my graphics card, but this I have to look more deeply.

  7. It's pretty much always more or less on, it's never completely dark in the settings I have.
Sure, if I reduce  the light, the gem also reduces the brightness, but then I see less than the eventual guards.
I think this should be independent of the Gamma setting, as was the case in previous versions. I haven't changed anything in the brightness settings since then.
Perhaps it would be more practical when instead of shining more or less, the gem would fill from the left to the right as a progress bar, depending on the visibility.

For the moment I will manage, relying more on the shadows and taking advantage of boxes or distracting the guards than in the gem, but this does not exactly facilitate much in missions with guards at every corner.

  8. In the last update to 2'09 I have observed that the light gem is shines, even while being invisible to the guards, depending directly on the Gamma and brightness settings. I have it somewhat higher because my eyesight is no longer what it was and I have a hard time playing in environments as dark as they are by default.
This in the previous versions was not a problem with the same settings, since the light gem still showed the visibility correctly.
It would be perhaps more appropriate to use some scale as in other stealth games, this would greatly facilitate adapting the position to remain invisible.

My system is optimized and clean. I recently installed it. That's not the point. The point is to remove unnecessary load for my graphics card. since the card heats up quickly. it is from the Silent category.

Precisely when it is newly installed, the first task is always to throw out a lot of garbage and unnecessary things 'to improve the user experience' that always come by default with Windows. Freshly installed Windows is never 'clean'.  Really clean up Windows can increment the performance up to 20-30%, trust me.

A recomended tool (by MS itself) https://wpd.app (free, portable)

  10. I forgot before, in old PCs with few resources, Windows ultimately offers a function called Ready Boost, which allows you to expand the RAM, using a pendrive. It is a feature included since Vista.

    https://www.flashbay.com/support/faq/windows-readyboost

This can considerably increase performance on PCs with limited resources, on PCs with more than 4Gb, however the difference is only minimal.

(Disable this function before removing the pendrive, if not, it causes a system crash)
