  1. Awesome. Upgraded and finally it works.

    Flux 3.X in 2016 did not have the fullscreen or exclusion list.

    Flux 4.X in 2017 added the fullscreen and exclusion list.

    It looks like "safe mode" is called "disable for fullscreen apps" and disables both polling and colors on the monitor that is in fullscreen.

    It looks like the whitelist/exclusionlist is called "disable when using ..." if you have a program open and in the foreground.

    I tried out that option, seems that now the Gamma&Brightness in TDM are affected by the game. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Regarding FPS, faq also has safe mode to avoid lag in case you want to test it (fixed my problem at least).

  3. Would be great. Could only find one INI option below. Could not find any to hex-edit in the U-files yet either.

     

    The animated portion of the white reticle icon when aiming the bow can scale to zero and turn off below. The fixed portion of the white reticle is still visible and does not scale though. Obviously the INI option is useless when the entire white reticle icon can be scaled to zero and turned off by starting a new game with the built-in custom difficulty and no reticle option, although too late if already mid-game.

  4. After installing, do you know what I might have to click on to get it to work? The computer's playback devices do not show a razer surround audio controller but the installation seemed to run okay. Opening razor shows only, "please connect a razor synapse 2.0 enabled device." I was just going to use my regular stereo headset/headphone.

     

    Edit: Rebooting windows vista didn't help. Razorzone support does not have much about this problem. Google does not show much about a problem like this. I do not have a 'Razer Surround Audio Service' that forums are talking about so maybe my problem is worse than I thought.

    was intentionally created to obscure search results for The Dark Mod.

    Ever since it was released in February it has obscured search results for TDM...

    I don't think this is a real project.

    Nor do any of the other "mods" from this author look real...

    Try searching in advanced search for results from the last week or last month.

    Were you thinking that gamers looking to play something new are searching only one week of google? I thought new gamers search everything after they hear of a name like the dark mod in a magazine or forum, and maybe later might limit their search if they like the game more.

     

    I see what you mean by just searching for one week; that horror game showed up lower in the results but does not look as prominent because the dark mod has a lot more press and downloads to bump results? Search the whole year and that horror game never shows up.

  6. I really do like the idea of a toggle key between the current weapon and the previously selected weapon. That way I could switch between the water arrow and blackjack easily without having to remember specific keys (I keep forgetting which key brings up the water arrow, so mash either 4 or 5 until I get it right).

    A compromise can be to have the number keys (4 or 5) be the toggle and not the sheath key be the toggle. Pressing 4 can switch between arrow and default blackjack because you are deliberately taking a chance to change your light gem response and you are in control. If there is one key someone loves to use than they could use the 4-key forever and not have to learn anything else. Pressing sheath/fists removes all weapons and keeps them off so the light gem is always dark and safe.

    Of course not! What he wants is that the Sheath key remembers the last used weapon like many games do. Also it's the same issue as with my readables, he wants to use the key he already has his finger on which makes sense

    Would rather have the number keys be the toggle and not the sheath/fist key be the toggle. That sheath / fist key has been an emergency key to keep the light gem dark as fast as possible without ever accidentally bringing out a bright sword or bow. In this game, what is in your hands makes a difference between a guard seeing you or not. Other games might not be so sensitive and let you get away holding any weapon in the environment. If the sheath key ends up a toggle, then I would hate to ask TDM to add yet another option somewhere to make a "toggleable" key "not toggleable" for other players.

  7. A completionist could have an option to lose a bag or two of loot when escaping with guards on his tail. What a conundrum. :D Probably happens in bank robberies when the alarm goes off, or when leaving a dead member of your heist with a sack.

    Sounds convenient but the key would have to maintain a history of which weapon was last used (blackjack, sword, bow, etc). It would usually not be the one to use when drawing again later which will make me have to hit a number key anyway. I like when the key is just used to clear up the clutter in the screen and provide a quick minimalistic display.

  9. Thanks. You fixed it and the new download version 3 starts the mission great.

    That's a neat trick to start the mission via "map business" in the console. When testing v2, start mission also failed but the console made it easier to test and exit safely. Testing v3, start mission works great.

  10. Business as Usual fails to start for me too on my windows vista when downloaded Oct 20 and again on Oct 26. Hope some things below help in your investigation. Thanks for a great FM.

     

    Error:

    No error message. Pressing start mission on the difficulty screen loads the mission, the progress bar fills in one second, and returns to the start mission difficulty screen.

     

    Saved the FM to, C:\darkmod\fms\business\business.pk4

    To test, I installed a fresh darkmod and didn't change the config files yet.

    To test, I rebooted the computer and turned off antivirus programs.

    To test, I can still play the old business as usual from v1.08 okay.

  11. I put third person on a keybind. The example below uses,

    KEYPAD 5 to toggle

    KEYPAD 6/RIGHT for distance (change the number yourself between 100 to 800 til you like it)

     

    Edit, Darkmod.cfg

     

    Check if you are aready using the keypad, search for KP_5 and KP_RIGHT.

    If you are not, then add the code below anywhere.

    If you have those already, then maybe find a key you are not using yet and put it in the code below.

  12. Maybe an AI has alert levels toward each other that are separate from the thief. For example state 3 has scripts for arguing with other ai, but stop arguing and turn to a thief that triggers an alert level higher than 3. Something like that I guess?

     

    alert state 0 is idle to other ai, and notice thief triggers any alert level

    alert state 1 is observant to other ai and questioning the situation, and only notice thief triggered alert level 2 like louder footsteps

    alert state 2 is suspicious to other ai and insults and rude, and only notice thief triggered alert level 3 like walking in the peripheral view

    alert state 3 is searching to other ai and drawing sword and arguing, and only notice thief triggered alert level 4 like was in full view but now hiding

    alert state 4 is agitated to other ai and drawing sword and attacking, and only notice thief triggered alert level 5 like being in full view (Enemy is known)

    alert state 5 is in combat to other ai and drawing sword and attacking, and just ignore thief in alert level 5, exception when thief also engages in combat or physical activity with ai

  13. Or a training mission with more blackjack practicing? Different guards and outfits in a room and get them from behind, front, takedowns, alerted, patrolling, etc. then they reset quicky after.

     

    Should a game have every enemy eliminated the same way forever? LGS did have an intent for different enemy types and alternatives. From thief 1 to 2, I saw cameras were one more enemy that you do not just blackjack like you used to. The dark mod continues the trend with a helmethead and lantern bearer as one more enemy to deal with.

     

    The blackjack works okay for me on the few guards that I use it on. If the plan is to KO every guard, that would just increase the chance for failure. Like with anything that we get too much of, the odds are greater for bad karma to come back around or for winning streaks to lose. I treat a helmeted guard as a different obstacle to get around or distract, and not expect all the same npcs everywhere.

  15. Only had time for one quick look and my g_fov isn't working at all for some reason.

    Hi Fid. Ever figure out why not working at all for you in this fm? I have the same problem and tried everything for this fm. Setting the fov in the autoexec, a doomcfg keybind, the ingame console ... changes and saves the variable okay but the screen never changes and stays supposedly 90. Tried restarting, reinstalling, removing configs in the pk4. Other fms work as intended. Thanks.

  16. I know Nyarlathotep that suggestions are good. I was being sarcastic because it changed, from suggestions, to what jerks there are for not implementing the suggestions. Getting bent out of shape after receiving criticism can be a form of weakness so to speak.
