  1. I think it might be fun to redo a screenshot. Take a cool screenshot from T1 and give it the deluxe treatment. 'How T1 would have looked today' type of thing.

But I'd rather build/play new and different stuff.

Don't ask me how I remember this but, Lady Rowena did just that. Take a look at this thread over at TTLG. http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132299

Its worth the looks, they are fabulous.

  2. Exactly that occurred to me, too. The "bots" have names that are too consistently unique to be auto-generated.

But realistically, what can one do to prevent this? It's kinda like any other "crime" in that it can't be stopped unless it has already happened, thus a "bot" or "spam account" cannot be hindered until it's been put into existence. And then the "damage" has already been done.

Block IP ranges? Nope. That can potentially alienate people who accidentally land within that range, happened to me once.

    Hmm ... ???

And somehow it seems like the status updates are the real target here, I don't see as many spam threads wanting to sell us Viagra or some other drug people apparently can't go without.

    *shrug*

Valid point... There has to be a drawback right? For a good solution there's often a catch.

Use Stop Forum spam and Honey pot, I check the IP's, those sites are a must for the forum staff. It will weed out the good from the bad. I use those sites all the time. If their IP shows nothing, they are let in, simple as that.

  3. They can still check their IP's to see what country they are from, and if there has been a problem. I deal with it all the time on Black Cat, awaiting moderation, they all get checked, every single one of them. Lot of them don't make it in.

  4. I understand, the few die hards, myself, Clayman, PeterSmith, you know how it was back in the day. It was thee absolute best place to be, We shared stories, had a great fucking time in there. I actually printed off years ago, threads I thought were worthy of keeping, and kept them. Glad I did. I still visit in there from time to time, it is pretty quiet, I just don't have the heart to leave there. You still get some of the old crowd that do stop in from time to time, I'll always say hello. I won't dare venture into the Thief 4 forum, because of all that BS. She shouldn't be a moderator, period.

  5. It's true if jtr7 leaves, the forum is screwed. Is that mainly in the thiaf 4 forum? I don't go in there period. So, that's why I asked. The cripple burrick, where Peter Smith moderates is the only Eidos Thief forum I go into. A lot of you know Peter, he's helps test, and in that particular forum, I feel...safe? lol.

  6. One of my top favorites, I wish they made games like this these days. No we're just stupid people thank you for dumming down the games for us, so appreciated.

Question, how many endings do you remember? Some people don't realize there is more than one ending.

  7. I had a blast with this one. It felt like a good old fashion Halloween mission, the story flowed, it was good, it had all the elements. I knew I had to go back to the basement again, got stuck on that last pumpkin, that was clever and good. Damn zombies out back, made me jump. Even the music and sounds in just the right places made me jump a bit, that was appreciated. Nicely done, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you!

  8. Good job there Spring. Had a lot of fun, the audio was killer, and really enhanced the mission, all authors, take note. Audio drags you in, as others have said. I usually wear headphones, being partially deaf, I have to, it was a real treat. The black jack was my friend in this, I loved, loved watching the AI relight a snuffed out candle. So well done, made him a bit more vulnerable to a black jack! ;)

    Looking forward to more, MORE!

Man Skyes, he's a sick bastard!

I missed the archer, yes I was propositioned, yes on the front door. Video's were great too!

  9. Back in the day, when Thievery was at its highest play time, lot of people had a blast playing it. Watching video's, and actually playing are two different things. You can't fully understand what its like to hide in the shadows, and have a human know where those shadows are. There was plenty of areas to hide in, it was not just running around all the time, the fun for me was finding new spots to hide in. SOOO much fun.

I played the hell out of it, can't tell you how many times after a good round, my hands would shake, and shake, my heart pounding. Nothing else like it. I was one of the few women that did play, and not to toot my own horn, I was pretty good, its a difficult game at times, very challenging, and if you do not have the patience to learn, its not for you. It does have a high learning curve, but, its worth it. If you just want to run and gun it, go play something else, like regular UT. This game was ahead of its time, and it still is.

You get a bunch of good friends playing, get on Team Speak, let the fun begin. Chaotic at times, challenging, finding new spots to hide in, how the hell did he do that, rat mode with friends running around. Such an under rated game.
