  1. From the highly corrupt Liberals

Someone's been listening to Harper a little too much. I love it that he kept going on about it, and then the report came out saying that there was nothing wrong with the current government yet Harper kept saying the "Martin's Liberals" are corrupt.

    I hate politics

  2. Hey, right back at ya! <_< Thanks for making the point and lumping every American resident together. I could counter with "Fuck Canada!" but that would stupidly be including several fine persons from this board. So I won't do that, ya see. Because that would be stupid.

I've never understood why people are "proud" of where they're born. It's not like they had any say in it, nor are they the functioning leaders.

I'm talking about the country and it's leadership, not the citizens. Of course not all of them are bad, just like here we have a lot of idiots too. Sorry I wasn't clearer on the subject.

  3. Well, Canada, Australia, and the UK are practically US states anyway... or at least, their respective leaders want them to be. Free trade for all! (as long as it's one-way)

I have only this to say; Fuck the USA!!

I'm Canadian and damn proud of it. I will never accept US control of this country, although I'm not sure that there is a lot I could do :(

  4. It's only free for the Iraqis if you ignore the fact that the country was just destroyed by the very people who are "generously" volunteering to rebuild it. It's like murdering somebody's family and then expecting gratitude because you generously paid for the funeral expenses.

Who said anything about gratitude?? Just stop hampering the rebuilding efforts so that the Americans can get out as soon as possible.

EDIT: And nobody is "volunteering" to rebuild Iraq, they are getting paid quite well.

I agree it was stupid to go there anyways, and Bush is an idiot as we all know, for going there.

  5. LOL you guys totally took what I said the wrong way. The guy in the video saw them stealing, (yes he was a dick about it and went too far trying to be cool or whatever) he stopped them to tell that they don't allow looting even in times of war (I guess), they didn't understand. So instead of getting a translater they decided to make their point by destroying their car, (which probably caused them to become jihadists).

It was stupid and over the top, but I do agree with the no looting rule. I hate looters period. Unless you are stealing food to feed your starving family (which some people did during Katrina), you don't deserve the right to break the law just because the police aren't around to stop you. (Pathetic)

Besides you can't compare stoping someone from looting and crushing their car and shooting people for no reason. Yes the troops were stupid and macho and idiotic to do that, but they didn't kill the iraqis either.

If your commanding officer tells you to maintain the law and peace in your area (read; no looting, killing, stealing etc etc) then you follow those rules. To bad the soldiers weren't told that crushing a car with a tank to punish looters was stupid and would not work as a point to be taken.

I don't condone what the americans did, but it wasn't "for no reason". What the iraqis probably would have done, had the soldiers just taken their wood and told them to be on their way, is t simply stolen more once the soldiers left. They aren't arresting the civilians, they aren't impounding their car, they can't stop them from doing anything, so they did something even dumber; they destroyed the car so the most they could steal would be what they could carry to their homes.

And what I meant for free was that it's free for Iraq not the contracters. They are making fortunes to build in an incredibly dangerous area. How many contracters have been beheaded now on tv??

Point is; US soldiers in that video acted like teenagers with a tank. It is their fault wether they are sociopaths or not. Most (bad) sociopaths wind up in prison so it is no excuse.

  6. And if they're not outright killing, they'll just oppress civilians and, oh, maybe run their car over with a tank for fun.

Or maybe because they caught them looting?? I hate looters, everyone remembers the looters during Katrina taking beer and cigarettes. Dicks, go help your fellow man instead of stealing for yourself. You wanna steal wood to rebuild?? How about you stop blowing up the American contracters who come over to rebuild schools and other buildings for free.

I know it's not the civilians (non-radicals) who are blowing shit up, but still; Let them rebuild enough to get out of there, then this shit can end. (or get worse for the iraqis)

  7. If you screen out all the sociopaths, there would be no one left for the armies lol.

But this situation is total bullshit!!! I have a strong dislike for weapons in real life and dislike anyone who uses them to kill unarmed civilians or even armed civilians just walking.

    EDIT: just incase you were looking for a definition;

People with this disorder may exhibit criminal behavior. They may

not work. If they do work, they are frequently absent or may quit

suddenly. They do not consider other people's wishes, welfare or

rights. They can be manipulative and may lie to gain personal

pleasure or profit. They may default on loans, fail to provide child

support, or fail to care for their dependents adequately. High risk

sexual behavior and substance abuse are common. Impulsiveness,

failure to plan ahead, aggressiveness, irritability, irresponsibility,

and a reckless disregard for their own safety and the safety of

others are traits of the antisocial personality.

  8. Heres a tip for BG combat, outfit your thieves and warriors with those throwing knives or shuriken or whatever, especially the poisonous ones. They dont do much damage themselves but they are usually the first missiles to strike a foe and as such they are great for interrupting enemy magic users that are in the process of spell casting. I didnt use them at first cause of their inconsiderable damage but when I realized they could hamper magic casting I always kept one party member armed with them in a lead position. This advantage fades as your foes become tougher but its valuable in the earlier stages.

    Titties and WORD YO!!! lol

I seriously loved that game, especially the Power Word: Death spell. Awesome.

  9. Yeah it's not that simple :) My arrows also power up the longer you hold the button, and the launch velocity is different. This is because idProjectile is allowed to take on those kinds of paramaters on launch time.

Unfortunatley, when you define a melee damage entity, that's it. You can't pass it any variables, and there is only one allowed per weapon. So you can't even make the damage more powerful for an overhead swing!

I was talking to Brian (of id Software) about this, and he said you would definetly have to modify the SDK to allow for this kind of thing.

So this is a built in limitation of the weapon script system, and someone needs to modify the SDK to give the weapon system more features available to the script.

Could you modify the script to create a projectile on contact with the sword, that does varying damage based on time held for sword swing??

Like when someone gets hit with the flashlight, on contact, a projectile is created/released that has it's damage set based on how long the fire button was held??

  10. Ah that's what it was - damage. The attack anims may be different, but the melee damage a player weapon does is fixed - each weapon can only have one melee damage associated with it. That's why I couldn't program a powerup attack with the sword when I was scripting the weapons.

But doom3's weapons already have something like that don't they?? The BFG "powers up" the longer you hold the fire button. Same thing with the grenades but that is with throwing power (Swinging power of the sword??) not the damage.

The damage is just a number that can be added/multiplied/divided etc. to, so I'm not sure where the problem lies. A quick side attack could have the same damage as a quick downstroke attack, but the only one that is different is the power attack, which could use a different type of amunition (dumb way to go about it I know, but I just started looking at this stuff a few days ago)

EDIT: Just thought of something, it's all one attack, just depends on how long you hold the button down to fire the sword lol.

TimeHeld * BaseDamage (up to a max damage), if TimeHeld > 1500 then execute the overhead swing animations and multiply the basedamage by whatever. else do the min damage and play the side animation.

  11. Yes, the flashbomb should create a temporary AI state-- "blinded" so that we can play specific animations/behaviour during that time.

You will have to make sure it only affects AI who have the impact point in their FOV, however. Likewise, if the impact point is in the player's FOV, they should have a modified vision effect (like the power-up effects of D3) where the screen goes white.

Not only in the field of view, but a distance check to find the distance to AI/Player to scale the effect of the blinding. Being a 100 feet away from a flash bomb will affect you differently than being within 5 feet etc.

But guys, do I need your source or should I just go with the flash bomb and can't this stuff be done with scripts??

  12. The weapons programming :)

Well I don't have the official word, but last I was involved, the sword needed various attacks (left and right slash etc.) Currently it's only able to do normal attack, and power up attack.

If I could see the code for the other attacks I might be able to code some side attacks. This is usually the way I learn best.
