  1. "We could use someone who updates some of our "crude" models. F.i. creates "broken shards" from the glass bottles/lab glass. Or we have some statues which show clipping etc."

A lot of models has it's smoothing wrong, i intended to fix some of those but i dont see a way of converting the fixed meshes back to .lwo.. Only to .ase from an older blender build. But that would be no good i guess as the old maps using the model use .lwo-s..

Anyway, after the initial failures i think i am stepping back from the helmet for the moment, to something simpler so there is some useable results..

  2. "That way you could produce books, scrolls, sheets prefabs the mapper could just insert in his FM where needed. "

I like this idea, it would be cool if the world had its repository of popular books, so copies of them could be found in several FMs..Could make a nice connection between maps, maybe even inspire one to find more volumes of the same book in other maps. Not to mention finally libraries would have readable books that are not neceserraly connected with the particular FM.

  3. He was kind of a nutjob judged by his views..

He's a racist, but also an anti-racist..He only hates muslims as it seems.

He's a right wing extremist, a christian but also a zionist ( well, that counts as right wing too i guess )

    Also was a Freemason..

The frightening thing is..there surely was people around him who agrees with him on plans like this.

    My condolences..

  4. Thanks for the tip with Xnormals, will try it.. Well the pshychedelic stuff was because i set the wrong object to active, but then i switched it correctly, and it still was a bit messy i guess because of overlapping, will do another try with Xnormals.

"I think the rocks looks way too boxy. You can clearly see that you started out with a cube. So IMO they will need to be adjusted/remade. " was just for test.

AO, hm i bake this and blend it with the future diffuse? or can we use some kind of AO maps now?

  5. Did a test about this.. A rock formation

    Triangle count goes like this:

    192

    768

    3072

All baked with the ulrahigh-res sculpt. And the best is that the normals dont fail anywhere:)

I think 768 for a reasonably well sized rock piece is not bad,

and the 192 one can be optimized easily to a fine looking real lowres shadowmesh it just messes up the uvs but shadowmeshes dont need those..

Using the 3k higher res could even make it a medium landmark.

  6. Thanks for the replies..

It was in tangent mode (the one that is not the space oriented), it was wrong because meshes didnt really fit..and this thing i am still not sure of but will do a search after this if the high poly should encase the low or the other way..

Btw just checked how this multires works. It is similar to subdividing, but its working a bit different, and it turned out to be great.

Basically, you make a model at lowest res, then add as many detail level as you want.

The levels effect each other both ways.

So a head could be made like..a box..add a level form it a blob shaped like a head..add a level, put in major geometry distorts(nose, eyes etc.)..add a level , model details, add a level, model minor details, than you can go back to whatever level and bake higher res geometry to them.

  7. I fear i kinda failed with the helmet, and might need redoing it in parts..I made the lowpoly as a separate model but now i have a hard time baking it correctly..its a psychedelic mess.

But as i see..and it would've been nice to know, its possible to bake normals using a multires object's certain detail level...damn it would have been so much nicer and cleaner thinking with that from the start :)

but that's what learning is for..

Am i also right that if i unwrap a low poly and apply various multires the uv won't get severed majorly?

  8. Started on the spanish helmet. That's how it stands as of now,

I will make the low poly now, then i think i will try making a bit more dented/used version.

I didnt do the belt part, that might interfere with anims i guess, but hopefully the side-burn like things wont be trouble, when they'll be adjusted to an actual ingame head.

That rim will need a bit more strenght there when getting in-game.

  9. Just make sure to get the enchanced edition of the first.. I heard that originally the writing wasnt so good in it, but it got corrected and rewritten for the enchanced..It also nicer and better i guess..didnt play it too much however..The original put me off exactly because of its bad writing.. Also mind that the first game's combat is a rythclicking mess..at least of what i've played.

ps: you cant finish morrowind! :ph34r:I mean this in a good way :)

  10. i read somewhere that setting the slider to high equals the disabled now..Tried it, and it did get better..but its still funky..at least not reversed..

This is kinda bullshit from them anyway..implementing a shitty feature that cant be disabled..

  11. I'll try making a helmet, will use an already wearable for size to make a 'prop' helmet.

Then i think i will need a head model to make a wearable version..Is there a good way to import md5 to blender? The body parts are in md5 if i see it well.

  12. Yes, its that , I just sent the PM to Fllood.

Well i would be glad if you did, beware it may not be so welcoming to newcomers who see it the first time..Bits done here, bits done there..some things in detail some are left plain..most of the main geometry is carved however..

(Úgy is mondhatnám elég nagy fejszébe vágtam vele a fejem :) )

  13. Hm i think i will just do this.. I have a map and was going on and off with it..but it wont get anywhere like that..Will see to this.

As i see this.. If someone picks up the map, and then maybe abandon it. This way i can even pick it up myself later?

  14. I am a huge fan of Morrowind but the video you linked is really ugly for my taste.

That HDR is surely overdone there, and some of the texture replacements just don't fit. Another problem is that while a huge view distance sounds nice, MW was not designed to have it..So if you increase it too much things just loose their "weight" , their massiveness..it also ruins the feeling of exploration..

But it's maybe just me.. but i also think that morrowind is meant to played with the original heads..however ugly they are, they are allways better to me than those 'better heads' all roundy, modelish faces.

MGE is a great tool, it would be nice if it would come with some presets that are fine-tuned already.

  15. Jedi Knight 2? Only first third of the game is FPS only , latter parts are tps/fps but i remember it as a good action-filled game with lots of variety and nice puzzles.

btw: Halo gets better later, i liked it for its great AI, and i guess because of the nice shiny specularmaps:D

  16. By fantasy i really only meant some creativity..especially since TDM is half fantasy it could take in a bit more than snow/fallen leaves/ birds singing on the rooftops when talking about seasons. Like in the real world its not just winter/spring/summer/autumn carved in stone but has a lot more colour to it.

Another idea based on the above concept: Bridgeport industrial area's springtime means not sunshine and happiness, but acidic rains and poisionous heavy fogs, among these conditions nature's remaining forces fight for its yearly resurrection.Alchemists of bridgeport sets out to gather the rare short-living ingreadients this time of the year, which means a scavenge amongst the eldest of the city's ruins and sewers, some are trying with indoor/underground fields...meanwhile the natural areas are still in their slowly melting late-winter days, pagans making huge bonfires that are sometimes visible at nights from the city's towers to celebrate the coming warm.

So basically i think if its handled not like a snow/fallen leaves contest but as how it could happen in this strange dark world, how it effects the life of people around , it could get real interesting and valueable .
