Screenshots And Gallery

What's your position on people using screenshots from your gallery and screenshots section for "personal" reasons? Chopping them up and using them for a forum avatar or signature, for example? What about making your own photocollages?

If there's any restriction on this, please post here. If you think there should be, post here too.

Excellent. I'd like to be able to make my own screenshots using the material you've got here, but I don't own a copy of DOOM3 yet.

On a side note, completely unrelated to this thread, I've been reading up on some of the suggestions your fans have been offering, and I like a whole lot of them, particularly the "ultra-realistic" ones. I'm not one of those dopes who say "GAMEPLAY > REALISM!!11111", because my philosiphy is realism IS gameplay, and without one or the other, a game simply isn't fun, or even a game for that matter.

At any rate, you folks should definitely look into new ideas such as the "swinging arms" one for your weapons and items. For a good example, check out the old game "Die By the Sword". It has a system called VSIM which allows players to control their arms using their mouse, and it works extraordinarily well.

No. I intend to actually use your "Builder Priest" model's upper half as an avatar in this forum, and another completely unrelated forum.

P.S: In fact, if you could make me a nice render of a Builder Priest standing upright, from the front perspective, that would be nice. Perhaps at a slight angle, even. The ones in the gallery are rather dark and moody unfortunately, which is good in any other situation, but I need one which is in normal daylight, or at least in somewhat brighter than DOOM3-campaign light levels.

Yeah, it might be a good idea to check with the individual artists...

Anyway, it would be fantastic to have VSIM type of control in TDM (or any frikken' game, post-1998 for that matter, LET'S GO, GAME DEVS! *swift kick*) but there's just no way, considering the complexity of it. The movement system in DBTS is based around the entire PhD research in physics and computer systems of Peter Akemann, so it's just a tad involved. ;)

Good DBTS reading, by none other than null, T3's Jordan Thomas

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
