  1. Or middle-click on a face to select the material in the Media pane; though that'll also copy the shader to the clipboard.

I don't understand "face" or Media pane or shader, but I'm learning and I appreciate your help guys!

I'm so happy to finally be constructing rooms with an idTech engine, nonetheless one that is based in medieval / steampunk a la Thief, which is my holy trinity with SS2 and DOOM!!

    :-)

I'll try to post some new screenshots later.

  2. Sorry for dumb questions again, but I guess it's clipper tool? I can't see to figure out how to select certain vertices and then remove them between two hollowed cubes to make interconnecting regions. I'm sorry that I'm such a newbie and but I have to ask questions to learn and I'm really not good with the wiki I'm really sorry but you guys are awesome helping me out and I promise I will make a level you can play if you help me.

I am posting screenshots so you know that I've been doing some work and I'm not just BSing. :D

I'm excited to make get better at DR but it's kinda difficult when we can't sit next to each other in the same room and teach each other becuase we're all over the world on the internet making this happen. And kudos to that, because this is some mega TDM is a mega success in the independent world of real deal, hardcore stealth games, and not to mention free!

Some days I wish everyone was as into building TDM FMs as those people who just wanna soak up in the hype of Fallout 4, which is the latest flavor. I've yet to try it, I'm at that point where I want to create more than play but I have a severe learning curve with using an editor. I never even built a DOOM level. This is my first go around, and it' a match made in heaven cuz I LOVE the feel of IdTech and the speed and adrenaline and terror it pumps at you but at the same time I'm so fascinated by the depth and story and visuals, and rich world to absorb of the Dark Engine with Thief 1 & 2, so for nostalgic purposes, it's a perfect marriage.

Anyway. How do I cut through walls?

  3. I know we have cards, dice.

    Any other little models?

Dart boards? Other ideas more common with simple and criminal?

Backgammon is there but is more noble, wouldn't see that in a dungeon to keep thieves occupied.

Some sort of medieval competition games to keep the mind going on down time that can be used as static models to add life to an otherwise not so inhabited room?

I know we have plenty of alcohol, bottles, or alcohol, barrels for alchoholl.... But, these guys can't be drinking that much ale, can they?!?! :D

Just brainstorming and sharing a post.

  4. I looked in some of the decals...err...?

Melan did this good with the dead Builder in Whitechapel Row.

Grayman also did good with the suicide jumper in Home Again.

Where can I find to make messy table and walls?

Is it just a texture? A transparent texture? Are there other steps int he process?

Thanks. Looked on wiki but couldn't find, guess I'm a bad searcher.

And don't go blushing but I like communicating with the forum it's more fun, ahem, humane.

Where else do TDM geeks gather and rally behind each others imaginations brought to life through DR? :D

It's coming along, looking a bit more detailed now.

I feel like I'm going to be asking for help testing every area of this mission to tweak it as it is being built. I don't want it to go haywire, it's better to have help coach me along the whole time than at the end get a list of 100 things wrong and feel dwarfed to be able to fix them.

As a newbie to DR, the one thing that constantly throws me is how much there is to look through to decide what to put in a level. I've been looking for spiderwebs, still can't find them. That program is filled with assets.

  6. I'll read that section and adjust.

I'm aware that I should be reading the A to Z, but to be completely honest I'm just way more intrigued by messing with the program instead of reading the manual, even though it may be a bit counter productive in the long run, as I may have to unlearn bad editing habits. At the same time, it will help me develop a personal mapping style and not be "taught" how to use a program.

Thanks for the info. I'll try out the ambient_world light and see what I can manage.

  7. I guess I'm not as much the stealth maniac as a lot of you, but "Strange Bedfellows" on Expert was a super pain in the ass. I lost a lot of health in the beginning and it made the trek underground damn near impossible. "Maw Of Chaos" is also a difficult stroll.

What kind of stealth system does Hitman use? Is it visual like Dishonored and Deus Ex or are there sound cues like footsteps and talking like in Thief?
