  1. Jesus H Christ sparhawk. Do I have to find a new warpost from you everytime I click on this thread? Take it. TO THE PMs!!!!
  2. Alright people, everyone shut up now. Get on topic or take it to the PMs ffs.
  3. So Macsen and mines posts have been censored then? Edit: Oh, I see where it went. A pointer would have been nice. Come on oDDity, there are alot of changes you have made to models and such because of non-modeller input. Off the top of my head, and because I was involved, think of that rope arrow concept. You had an interesting idea which was altered to it's current state by other people's input. Equally if the plot was really stupid I'd expect you to get input and for your comments to be taken heed of even though you are are not a writer.
  4. Well explain it to me. You can come out with all the "it's not that important anyway" you want but the fact is you stated you should name him. Derek Gordon is rubbish name. Rubbish. Sound's like the local wino/butcher/taxi driver. All those against Derek put the following at the end of thier posts: Derek is teh suxxor
  5. Stop being silly sparhawk. "I wrote the code that brings him alive so I should name him." WTF? Shouldn't Renz get to name the city and all the places seeng as he is lead mapper then? It's a team vote and Derek isn't much liked. Fearghal is far, far too Irish imho. We might as well call him Shamus/Seamus.
  6. Well that crazy mix is perfect if you ask me. But the names themselves are err, not quite right. Farrell is far superior to Derek. I know people who use different names from their real name, Derek, because they dislike it so. And Garrett is widely acknowledged to be but 5' 8" Macsen, based on his height compared to other people (he is a little shorter than most other male AI) and compared to items in both DromEd (where it is judged by eye level) and T3Ed.
  7. That's pretty cool oDDity. I like it. Macsen - there is magic remember. And who said that nutritional availability has to be an issue? I seriously doubt anyone is going to quibble about thief vs guard height. Here's a test - how tall is Garrett? I know, do you?
  8. I think Macsen is forgetting that this isn't a medieval docu-game. It's not even set on Earth is it? Thief certainly wasn't. There are some things you can and should extrapolate to medieval times because otherwise they would be too anachronistic. Height related to diet is not one of them.
  9. He's 5'4" isn't he? Are you sure it's 5'7"? And as to has it damaged his career? No, but that's because all the films hide it. Do you really think he'd make it if he was shown to be his true height on film?
  10. 5'8" at the smallest I say. Anything under that is short.
  11. Why are we having haunt speech? Haunt speech that says the same thing as the haunts in Thief?
  12. I don't think you are a traitor. In truth I believe that once TDM comes out all the people who have been working with T3Ed with all its limitations will be all "Wow, THIS is the thing I've been waiting for." It's an excellent stop-gap for them (and me ), and will keep interest in Thief mapping going.
  13. No surprises there then That site is always too busy for me to use
  14. Durham is a great place for pics Masen. The cathedral and the castle and even the streets of the city center.
  15. But if the water is magic it can theoretically have any property. And I'm not the one who came up with the growing thing btw. Once more: No-one likes your gel idea (okay, 1 other guy) and if you want to put it to the vote you'll see that water arrows come out on top even after this thread of multiple explanations.
  16. oDDity - I don't like the gel idea because I just don't see it working and water arrows (with the special fire-retardant water) is just so simple. I'd be much more inclined to accept some other method but I just can't think of one that is better than water. Please stop with the "joo guys only liek it cuz tis in Theif"" rubbish. We have all agreed that the standard rope, fire and gas arrows in The Dark Mod world should be mechanical. Gel - no. Something else - perhaps. Heck, I'm trying to think of some other way but the convienence of a water arrow that has 3 functions (extinguish torches, clean up blood, make things grow) is just too overwhelming.
  17. Close the thread then. No-one likes it and that's that. I don't moan that no-one likes my bodkins.
  18. Points 1,2,4 and 5 are just arbitary properties that you could add to a foam, powder, anti-oxygen miasma arrow or whatever. We can just have this with water arrows, and what is wrong with magic? TDM world is full of magic. Point 3 makes it LESS stealthy since someone trying to light the torch with think "WTF is this residue?". There is no reason FOR having gel arrows. There is nothing in the definition or description which makes them superior and they just seem like silly "gloop" arrows to me. And aren't we having the water arrow make other things grow? - something which people will have to suspend disbelief with even more with gel arrows.
  19. Sorry oDDity, I've been reading the thread and I don't see where or how it's superior. I'm all for change and so don't even start with the whole "fanboy" faggery - I've suggested and backed many things that are very different/improved over Thief so you'd better check your facts before you start suggesting rubbish.
  20. Why are we even talking about this? Unless the gel arrow is superior to the water arrow in some way there is no need for it at all. WTF?
  21. Jeepers oDDity, get out of thief role and back into mod developer role. I like the idea because it adds to gameplay. If we took out all the things that a thief would dislike from the game there would be no guards, locks, need to sneak or need for tools. Heck, you'd just have a giant pile of magic refilling loot. What the in the hell ARE you on about?
  22. I also like the idea of relightable torches and guards or servants that relight them.
  23. The problem with gel, and the advantage of water, is that gel doesn't cover/splash as wide an area because it errr, gels together. Is the water supposed to be totally normal anyway? I always thought of it as having some small amount of magical properties.
  24. Yeah, actually, he does have a bit of an attitude with that step. Agreed on the shoulder pads.
