There's a difference between "the internet" as in "Corporate owned websites" and "the internet".

I've had my work "copied" and used before - which is fine - but they altered it in a small way and were charging money for it - someone pointed it out and, when I sought out what I could do to stop them defacing my work (don't care about copying) - was told, "if you don't want it copied, don't put it on the /public/ internet".

Internet is a malleable anarchy, similar to that zit that you squeeze and the pus just kind of moves around under the surface and it goes red and angry for a bit, leaving nail marks, before going a bit scabby then settling down to normal.

Well, systems like YouTube are ”safe harbour” rules to avoid having to deal with the legal system. Nothing better was invented thus far.

Because we cannot go with the assumption that pirates who make money off of sharing are the good guys if they have ads all over the place (Neij and Sunde v. Sweden at the European Court). Leading to the pirate movement failing in Europe. Lost seats in the EU Parliament.
