Its funny how great even old games like Unreal look on a 32 in monitor in 1080P.

Doom and Wolfenstein 3d would like to disagree - The monsters anyway, environments are still nice.

The "good artists" holds true for any game, even today. You can throw all sorts of fancy effects and tech at something, but if the content isn't good enough, it will still look flakey.
