  1. I've noticed in the latest beta that certain candles in holders are now start off lit when they should be extinguished. They have a flame particle attached to them but some of them seem to emit no actual light. Look at the ones in the store room and adjoining bedroom in The Outpost for example.

    I'm not able to reproduce this on 2.11beta1, the map loads fine for me. Do you maybe have some leftover script addons or files that could be conflicting with tdm_secrets.script or tdm_main.script?

    One possible culprit would be my old stealth statistic message addon for TDM 2.07, which overwrites tdm_main.script.

    Hmm, yes that seems to be it.

  3. My mission Down & Out works without issue in 2.10, but in the 2.11 beta I get the following error:

    Script error 'TDM_SECRET_MESSAGE' not found on entity 'ATDM_SECRET_MESSAGES_1'

    Is this a 2.11 issue, or a bug in my mission I need to patch?

  4. Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to drop out. Real life has become unbelievably hectic lately, and I'm finding it harder and harder to set aside any uninterrupted mapping time. I'll still finish my mission eventually, but it probably won't be until about March next year. So look forward to a creepy little set piece around then. :)

    Hm, if it's not too much work, maybe you could download some of the older versions and see where it started happening?

    I just pulled and compiled the latest version, and whatever you did to DR yesterday seems to have resolved the problem. I'm no longer getting any lags or other oddities. I'll keep an eye on it to see if the issue reoccurs.

  6. I've been having trouble getting version 3.5 to run properly on Linux. As of a few updates ago, it takes up to ten minutes to start, equally long to load even the smallest map, and then lags like crazy in the 3D view. Quitting DR takes another few minutes and then it leaves keyboard input suppressed entirely- I need to log out to be able to so much as type into a terminal again. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I'm running on Linux Mint 20.2 Uma 64-bit, MATE 1.24.0.  DR isn't producing any log files or giving me any error messages that might help me figure out what's going on.

    Basically I wonder if that brief flash you are seeing also affected the global illumination when it happens and as a result it also affects gameplay because it reveals your location for a split second.

    I think what's happening is that your illumination isn't saved to the savefile. The sequence is basically this:

    * Save in pitch blackness

    * Wander into a brightly lit room

    * Get spotted by guard

    * Quickload

    * Light gem is still lit, takes a moment to update

    I can recommend getting it for free with a single click, which is what I did.

    I played half of the tutorial, and I thought it was boring, confusing, and irritating. Not my cup of tea at all, but it was free so I didn't lose anything.

    What is a Nort??

    The sort of person who, if you gave him a spoon, would complain about it being convex, insist that you fire up your blacksmith's forge to make him a concave one, all the while subjecting you to a barrage of condescending insults.

    Also, do YOU by chance know what causes light to bleed through brushes?

    This happens to me all the time with worldspawn brushes. I've never been able to figure out why, or to reproduce it reliably. But plopping some func_static in front of it usually blocks it. That solution is kind of a kludge, but I figure that if I have a big unadorned wall of worldspawn I'll probably want to decorate it anyway.

    Occasionally cutting the floor and ceiling brushes into two pieces works sometimes as well, but not consistently.

  11. As far as I understand:

    * Guard mumbles or glances in your direction but continues on his way = 0 points

    * Guard stops momentarily to look around = 1 point

    * Guard stops to search = 2 points

    * Draws his weapon and searches = 3 points

    * Sees you and tries to fight you =  4 points
