No, I am not confusing the terms. We will see, if I buy a licensed commercial software, I have a guarantee, for example if a program that I use professionally or publicly depends on this application. I do not have this guarantee in a Freeware, for example in case of a malfunction or the termination of this application.
Although it can also happen that a FOSS application stops developing, true, but always, when supported by a community, a programmer can continue with the project, which in closed source applications is not possible.
Before I mentioned the example with Dark Radiant and the assumption that this was a freeware application, closed source, depending on a company, instead of FOSS. What would happen to TDM, if this company that owns Dark Radiant goes bankrupt and stops updating or serving Dark Radiant? -
Yes, but it is the exception, not the rule. If Dark Radiant were only freeware, it would always depend on the publishing company. Although it allows public and commercial use, if they stop serving it, TDM is over. Freeware is always owned by the publishing company and everything that is developed with this software would never be used for public use for this reason. But anyway in most cases the use would always be preferably private.
For this reason, FOSS is used for public use, there are plenty of alternatives, or commercial applications, where you have the license and guarantees. As I say, read the TOS of the Freeware soft.

Just a little suggestion for the loot. Wouldn't it be possible to add when stealing something, not only the amount stolen until then, but also the total amount available in the mission?
This is how you know, if it is worthwhile to continue searching, before finishing the mission. It is a bit frustrating to finish a mission and only then know that only half of the available loot has been achieved. -
In the case of applications licensed as Freeware for program development, the use of these programs commercially is not allowed (although there may be exceptions)
For example, if Dark Radiant were only Freeware and not OpenSource, it would not be possible to create missions for public use. This is what nobody does, read the TOS of the applications.

This is the difference between FOSS and Freeware
You can do what you want with FOSS and also with Paid Soft licensed to you, but not with Freeware.

Free software, but proprietary, there are many more than what I have exposed in this list. But being proprietary soft they have a huge disadvantage that can make them useless for the people of this forum, they only serve for the development of private use, but not public.
Only OpenSource apps or licensed paid apps are used for development for public use, but not freeware apps.https://alternativeto.net/software/blender/?license=free&p=2

Of course everyone knows Blender, but this is not the only one. For this reason I have thought of adding a small list of the different editors, naturally all of them OpenSource, that may be of interest, some with a specific function that can be useful to create characters and landscapes.

In 2017 China inaugurated a glass bridge on a cliff at a height of 1160m high and 266m long as a tourist attraction. Although absolutely safe with the armored glass used, the engineers thought to make the experience more interesting, incorporating some special effects in the bottom, randomly simulating the breaking of the glass, with the result that we will see in this video. Whether fresh underpants were distributed at the exit is unknown.

I'm a old Metalhead since the 69, but unfortunately Wacken is a bit far for me and I always had to limit myself to local concerts and festivals, or, well, because of COVID what is on YT. The positive is that you can discover new bands that even take Metal to a new level.
Of the current bands, my favorites are Vintersea, Be'lakor and Harakiri for the Sky, !!the latter with brutal videos, but painfully true.- 1

Yes, this is clear to me, the usual thing is to do it with the pick and a tension tool, as is done in other games as well. Not that it bothers me or disapproves of the way I do it in TDM, it was a mere observation.
-
With lockpicking I have no problems, but I have the criticism that it is unrealistic, since normally both picks are used at the same time, as is also done in other games where you have to open doors with picks.
-
I see TDM as a medieval feudalism, with a king (maybe) and barons, but subordinate to the church and the Pope, holding the governing power.
-
Can this serve?
-
As the missions hint, it looks like a feudal theocratic society, run by the Builder Priests.

It is expected how long Firefox can hold out, being also sponsored by Google. In the field of Blink with these measures, there will not be many left, apart from EDGE, which has its own services by MS, Opera, now in the hands of the Chinese, not nor does it inspire a lot of confidence regarding privacy, Brave, which can only synchronize Bookmarks and Vivaldi, which has all the functionalities and full synchronization and can do without Google APIs.
This is why I am not surprised that Vivaldi is becoming more and more loved in the Linux community, even if it is not completely FOSS in the traditional sense (the source is open for audit, but some scripts have a patent to protect themselves against large companies, von Tetzchner does not want to repeat the negative experiences he had with Opera and protect the Vivaldi cooperative he created), some distros even include it as the default browser, for example Feren OS.
As you can see, monopolies in the network begin to cause problems, because they can lead to abuse. Anyway, it does not surprise me too, that the use of decentralized networks increases, Brave already has compatibility with IPFS networks (ipfs: // ....) and in Vivaldi it is also under discussion in future versions.
I've been using Vivaldi since version 1 for years and Firefox as a second.

Google plans to limit some of the Chrome APIs (features) that it includes inside Chromium starting March 15, 2021, making them unavailable for any other browser developed on top of the Chromium open-source codebase.
This doesn't only impact Chrome Sync but also other features such as the Chrome Spelling API, the Contacts API, the Chrome Translate Element, and many more.
All of these APIs are implemented inside the Chromium source code, the open-source skeleton that is at the base of the Chrome browser, and which Google open-sourced years ago.
Full article https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-cuts-off-other-chromium-based-browsers-from-its-sync-service/
Thoughts
Browser war to rule the net:
1 Develop Chromium, fill it with all Google APIs
2 Release the code for Chromium and turn Blink into a weaving standard
3 Sponsor selected ones (Mozilla, Apple ...) and share their user logs with them
4 Wait until everyone uses the Chromium code
5 Block the built-in APIs for anyone who doesn't use Chrome and doesn't have a Google account.(Good that Vivaldi uses his own sysnc and can upload extensions outside from Chrome Store)

The last game I bought years ago was Portal (€ 9.90). There are every few days Giveaways and Freebies games on GOG, Steam, Indiegala, DigiPen, etc. to have good games without having to pay a penny. Currently, however, TDM is what I mainly play, it is enough for me.

I just saw the images of The Order:1886 on IGN (Story driven Shooter). It seems that they are inspired by TDM, seeing the concept art of the environment.
Although I have no illusions, watching scenes from the game, I'm afraid I will need a NASA PC to be able to run it at more than 10 FPS, but surely you can "steal" some ideas for future missions although the genre is different from TDM.

The mission "Arena" in this sense is also a good test to see what your GPU can hold without bursting into flames.
