Alright thanks, I'll still try to get CVS up. As I said Spar it connects and gives me the mesage appears tobe loading but nothing happens. I left it for a good while while I was away( maybe 20-30 min) but it didnt even begin updating anything. It ried creating a new checkout repository but that didn't appear to work. What might I try next?

The only major advantage held by europeans was steel, even gunpowder was fairly unimportant because at that time the indian archers were 100x more efficient killers then the terrible innaccurate guns. Do you know what the big cause of death was in the Indians? 90-95% die off from European diseases that they had no immunity to. The first expeditions by Europeans even in north America were pushed out, it was only after Indian civilization collapsed due to know people that the Europeans had a chance to push in, calling it a sign from god. Without "divine intervention" even the Europeans realized they had no chance to defeat the Indian culture. The Europeans were considered by every other culture that met them at the time backward, dirty, and stupid, from Asia to the Americas to the Middle East. Finally I don't know what you mean by collapsing every 5 minutes since the empires were fairly secure up untill they died. Also a larger city requires much greater technology since agriculturally you have to be able to create and store food supluses to keep the large populations alive, even in cities up into the 18th centuries this was often challenging, not a feat to scoff at.

I do have my key but for some reason it won't checkout. It give me "cvs checkout -P darkmod (in directory C:\)" but then nothing updates. I'm not sure if some part of the setup has changed since I first used it or what.

The button code works and the settings "restart" code, but my version is outdated. It'd be nice if I could get the updated version to plug the code into so that we dont have to splice it all in (there's a fair amount of changes to make everything function). It now I iwhs I was on CVS.

When the Spanish arrived there in the 16th century, they were no more advanced than ancient Egypt, so if that's where they got the ideas from in the first place, through some sort of contact, they didn't advance them very much by themselves, that's my point. How about a city of aproximatly 300K people with 6 major aqueducts coming in an advanced calender system better then that used by most of europe at the time and a number of farming techniques not yet seen. Maybe it's the region I am from as opposed to yours however I truely have no comprehension of why you couldnt believe that a non european civilization could create advanced technology and you have to create massive theories of explanations as opposed to just accepting that theres NO DIFFERENCE.

I guess my problem with speculation on why European society have "fared better" is that you are only looking on a extremely short term, say the past 1000 years, if even that. I would say that this would not be an evolutionary difference in recent years, since people of negroid physical characteristics are no different outside of the habitat of Africa, but instead of the inherent problems with the area they occupy in modern day. I would certainly not argue that they are currently the world power, but I think that it's a very eurocentric view to think things couldn't change in the next 500 years. In this respect we are discussing cultural evolution not biological. I would place the stage of African culture (with exceptions not included) in a equivilent stage to the dakr ages of Europe, with much internal strife. I see no reason why they couldn't rise above that though.

That was my point crispy. I think that to believe that cognisance is that big of a leap goes against both genetic data and observations of the world. And even ignoring that, I still don't get how you could draw the conclusion that africans haven't evolved the same mental traits (if any different "races" can even be classified as different" It seems to make as much sense to me as saying that tall people or people with brown as opposed to blond hair have somehow different intelligence. You have no reason to justify mental connections to physical traits.

lol. In "Real Terms" guys obviously lions = rocks in the real world. I think looking at DNA or not a creature like a dolphin or ape that we can communicate with even on a basic level is closer to us. Neither us nor them can communicate with rocks. Also Your arguement still has no connection to the superiority of any specific race. I really don't see what you're trying to prove.

There are certainly differences between men and women, however if I woman can be better then a man in the same field, which happens, yet cannot get the position because people asume that she is less qualified, that's a problem. I agree that everyone should be based on individdual merit, however I think the notion that western europeans are "more evolved" in 20,000 year, nothing on an evolutionary level, is ridiculous. I don't know about where your at, but I know black and whites born on the same social level with the same educations and neither group outperforms the others. You can say that due to certain cultural and societal ideals other races at are current point and time are behind in their education but you would have to be a fool to not realize historically this is totally false. Lets not forget that middle eastern and north african cultures enslaved white barbarians and had advanced astrological and mathermatical ideals while the europeans were still wearing bear pelts.

yea thats fine, I was going to say that trying to change all the code from mixed up version will be a hassle. It would be great if I could get on CVS so as each of us updates it we could have an up to date version

I've been messing around with the warnings for the options but I was going to try to work on the ingame this weekend. I'm happy to do it unless you have some vast desire to. I was curious if the button should just go beneath the quit game, and if in quit game there should be a quit from level without quiting game option.

Well I know how to create a resume game button, but I'm not sure exactly how to link it so it only appears when the game is going on in the back. I'll dig around in the D3 menu so you don't have to slog through it and see if I can find how they script it.

Hmmm, I'll take a look with the music and see if I can't fix whatever it is. The code for the settings effects should just be pasting in a couple lines, shouldn't take too long. Restettime will probably be the easiest fix since I don't fully know what the problem is and that will most likely fix it regardless.
